This is the last product that was in my mini Boots Maybelline splurge! They were on 3 for 2 after all 🙂 This is the Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara in the new waterproof formula….try saying that fast!

Maybelline The Falsies Push up Drama MascaraMaybelline The Falsies Push up Drama MascaraWhen it comes to mascara, I think most of the time you know off the bat if you like it or not, so I’ve kept the Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama stashed since I got it and thought I would try it for the first time in this post, just to change things up a little, hope that’s ok.

Maybelline say: ‘Dare to get the Push Up Effect. Bold, thick volume, gravity defying lift, now with waterproof protection. Introducing Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara. Will you dare to get the Push Up Effect? Our 1st Push-Up brush with Cup-Shaped bristles boosts and thickens lashes. The formula Instantly plumps & volumises the look of lashes, with Styling Wax to keep them lifted. Intense black colour for a dramatic, sultry look.Result: A luscious pair of plumped up, full, thick lashes that last all day and night!’

So, let’s have a look 🙂

On first look, the Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama has quite a wet formula. The spooley is large, with small plastic bristles.

As my lashes are super straight, I did curl them just a little.

beauty blogger irelandI applied the mascara from the root of the lashes and wiggled the formula through them.

Here’s the difference after a couple of coats.

top irish beauty bloggerAs the formula is really wet and the brush is large, I did have issues with it getting on my eyelids, I wanted to get as much mascara on my lashes as possible, so it’s probably inevitable really.

maybelline mascara waterproofThe Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama in waterproof definitely gives length and volume and does help with curl. You can see the difference in the before and after below.

I used it on my bottom lashes aswell, although the larger wand does make it a little trickier. However, it lasted well and there was no smudging or flaking. It does clump somewhat, so if that’s something you can’t stand, don’t pick this up! I don’t mind it because it adds volume to the lashes.

Overall, I think Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara in waterproof is a decent mascara. As with most of the makeup advertising campaigns, I think they’re pulling our leg somewhat with their claims, but I think that’s where us bloggers come in and show you how they work on real people 🙂

You can pick up Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara in waterproof from Boots in store and online here now. It costs €11.99.

I’ve seen this comparison being made a few times online, so I had to investigate it myself! Today I am comparing (and contrasting) the cult beauty product that is the YSL Touche Eclat to the purse friendly W7 Light Diffusing Concealer.

ysl touch eclat

I will say, when it comes to the word ‘dupe’, I am very reluctant to ever use it, and in this comparison it will not be muttered again, because in my humble opinion, these products are not the same!

Just in case, you haven’t encountered either of these products throughout your makeup journey yet, I’ll give you a quick synopsis of both.

We’ll start by talking about the YSL Touche Eclat. It comes in encased it the well known sleek metal plated gold packaging.

ysl vs w7

Mine says ‘no need to sleep’ on it. They brought out some slogan collectors edition ones not too long ago. They’ve also since released colour correction variations of the YSL Touche Eclat. What I have here is just the original highlighter in number 1.

You click the top to release the product into the brush.

ysl ireland

The YSL Touche Eclat is a skin highlighter. It’s not a concealer, although I know alot of people use it for this purpose, as it does have some coverage to it. It does have a salmon hue to it aswell so can work to help brighten under the eyes. It has a creamy really blend-able texture. For me and my skin tone, it doesn’t do much highlighting unfortunately, I can get away with it a little under my eyes. Overall, it’s a really unnecessary purchase (that I’ve made about 5 times in my lifetime) because everyone loves it so much, I want to aswell 🙂

On to the W7 Light Diffusing Concealer.

under eye concealer review

This product does claim to be a concealer. It comes is a similar looking to the YSL Touche Eclat (from afar) plastic pen.

You twist the top of the pen to get the product out onto the brush, again similar to the YSL.

top irish blog

For me, this is where the comparison ends. The product itself,to me, is just crap. It doesn’t have any major coverage, doesn’t really conceal and can come out of the pen in little hardened balls which makes it hard to blend into the skin.

Here’s both pens swatched side by side. The YSL Touche Eclat is on the left and the W7 Light Diffusing Concealer is on the right. The YSL is more peachy toned and the W7 pen is definitely a more suited colour for highlighting for lighter skinned people like myself.

The W7 concealer is here on my right eye

Close up, I can’t seen any major difference between either eye, except there is a build up of product on the side of nose where I applied the concealer.

Onto the YSL Touche Eclat.

The W7 Concealer is on my right and the YSL Touche Eclat on my left.

I personally think the YSL Touche Eclat does a better job at concealing even though it’s not actually formulated as a concealer. The W7 Light Diffusing Concealer just doesn’t nothing really.

There is a pretty huge price difference between both of these products. The YSL Touche Eclat will set you back €35, you can get it from Debenhams online here And the the W7 Light Diffusing Concealer will set you back around 5/6 euro depending on where you pick it up. I can’t find a direct Irish stockist link to it, but here it is on the W7 website.

What do you think, would you pick up either? Are you a YSL Touche Eclat advocate?

The Maybelline Bricks Bronzer is a new addition to the Maybelline stand. They are on fire at the minute with releases and are constantly updating which is really brilliant! So here are all the deets on this new release and my honest first impressions too!

Maybelline Bricks BronzerThe Maybelline Bricks Bronzer seems to only come is one shade 01 Blondes. You get 7 grams of product within the palette.

irish beauty blogMaybelline describe is as their ‘all in one bronzing palette’ as it has a matte bronzer on one side. And then a shimmery more colourful side on the other.

top irish beauty blog

The packaging on this palette is a bit pants in my opinion. It’s really old school hollow plastic with a clear lid and just doesn’t do anything for me really.

So let’s give both sides a swatch and see how they far on the skin, shall we? 🙂

I’m going to dig into the matte shade first.

top irish beauty bloggerHere it is swatched with my finger on one side and then blended into the skin with a brush on the other.

It’s a warm and not very pigmented bronzer. You really have to build it up.

top blogger irelandThen here’s the shimmery part of the Maybelline Bricks Bronzer.

beauty blog IrelandAnd again swatched with my finger on one side and blended with a brush on the other.

The shimmery side is kind of underwhelming too. It’s more pink than bronze which is not surprising really looking at it in the pan. Once it’s blended out on the skin, it gives very little pay off.

beauty blogger irelandBoth sides are a little powdery too. This is the pan, after I finished swatching.

top blog ireland

Overall, I just think it’s ok, nothing to be too excited about!

I picked up the Maybelline Bricks Bronzer in Boots, but it doesn’t seem to be listed on the website yet which is a bit of a pain! It cost me €11.49 which isn’t particularly cheap I know! Here’s a link to it on the Superdrug site in case you want to see any more information on it.

Would it float your bronzing boat? Let me know 🙂

Check out my first impressions of the Revlon Ultra Volume Waterproof mascara. I only bought this mascara in Boots the other day. This was my first time to use the mascara, so I documented it in video form 🙂
As the formula is waterproof I also left it on all day and reported back to see how well it wore. Just click on the video for all the deets. Let me know if you like these sorts of videos and please please subscribe to my Youtube channel here, if you like it!

Thanks as always for stopping by.

Cocoa Brown Golden Goddess Shimmering Dry Body Oil, the newest Cocoa Brown kid on the block.

cocoa brown reviewCocoa Brown already has us glittering with their Shimmering Instant Tan Bronzing Gel (you can see it up close here) and now they are spoiling us, with a shimmering body oil.

irish beauty blogFirst off the packaging of the Golden Goddess is really pretty. It’s a 50ml clear glass bottle, with a pump on the top, which I always appreciate. The clear bottle lets you see the prettiness of the shimmering oil inside and keeps you knowing how much product you have left.

The product itself is a separated oil formula that you have to shake up to get the golden goddess going 🙂

irish makeup and beauty blogA little of it goes a long way, it’s really easy to apply, has the familiar Cocoa Brown scent (which I really like) and absorbs really quickly. Because it’s a dry oil, it doesn’t leave behind an greasy residue. When massaged into the skin, it leaves behind the prettiest golden shimmer.

cocoa brown irish beauty blogWithout any Cocoa Brown tanning help, I am naturally a pale Irish girl and the Golden Goddess still manages to give me a hint of colour as well as a shimmer…bonus!

It looks really gorgeous applied down the shin bone, on your collar bone, anywhere you would want a shimmery sheen really. I’ve seen people are using Golden Goddess even as a cheek bone highlighter, great idea!

You can pick up the Cocoa Brown Golden Goddess Shimmering Dry Body Oil in Penneys stores nationwide and from Cara Pharmacy. It will set you back €11.99 and will last you aaaagggggeeeesssss! 🙂

Inglot Gel Brow Liner

You know, the first ever blog post I wrote was about the Inglot AMC Gel Liner in black 77, still a staple in my makeup today, but the blogpost here I suppose was a little bit more rough around the edges 🙂

I am here today talking about my newest Inglot purchase. Their new AMC Brow Gel Liner.

Inglot Gel Brow Liner Review

I picked up the shade number 17 and I think it’s a pretty good match for my medium/dark brows. They come in an array of colours and the girls will gladly match you up to the one that suits your colouring the best.

The pot itself is absolutely tiny (2 grams to be exact), but I had it on good authority from Sinead of The Beautiful Truth that a little product goes a long way and she wasn’t kidding.

This stuff is ridiculously pigmented. I bought the Anastasia Dipbrow when it was first released here, so I have used a gel for my brows before. I still have the Anastasia one, but it has dried up so is more difficult to use. I think I like the Inglot version of it better anyhow.

Here’s my brows with no product.

Beauty Blog

Irish Beauty Blog

I start off by combing my brows with a spooley to get any foundation off them.

Irish Beauty Blog Beautynook

It goes on super easy, so much so you have to be very aware of how much is on your brush, be sure to take the access off in the lid before you apply.

irish makeup blog

irish lifestyle blog

irish makeup and beauty blog beautynook

I use the Inglot 31T angled brush. I apply it to the tail of my brows first as that’s where I want the most product I use the brush in flicking motions on the brow to try to (kinda) mimic hairs rather than just putting down a complete block of colour.

irishbeautyblog

Then, whatever is left on the brush I apply it to the front of my brow again flicking it into the hairs and trying to just fill in the gaps and make my brows look more groomed. I have a good amount of brow, they just don’t grow how I want them too. And sometimes I get a bit too over zealous with the tweezers aswell…it’s a problem :p

beauty blog beautynook

Then I comb through again with a spooley to take away any excess gel.

irish makeup and beauty blog

The Inglot AMC Brow Gel Liner stays put once it’s applied. My brows get pretty oily throughout the day so, usually if I use something like a pencil I’ll set it with a powder aswell just to lock in the colour for as long as I can. I find the Inglot gel liner lasts really on me. I do use a brow gel on top, but that’s more to keep the brows I already have in place rather then to help set the product. This one here is the Essence Make Me Brow which I love and have a review of here.

Here’s one brow finished. You can see the difference right? 🙂

irish lifestyle blog

Then two brows completed.

beautynook beauty blog

I really like the Inglot Brow Gel Liner. It’s pigmented, it goes on smoothly, it’s easy to use and it lasts. You can use it sparingly for more natural brows, or go full on with it for more bushy caterpillars, whatever your preference 🙂

It will set you back €16 and it will honestly last you an age!
