Top beauty blog irelandDo you know what I like to do when I’m broke? Put potential beauty items in my basket online. It somehow makes be feel like I’m beauty shopping. Do I sound deranged? Probably, but it makes me feel like I’m kind of, sort of shopping Pander to me people 🙂

If money was no object right at this moment in time and I was beauty shopping online, these products would be in my baskets all across the internet. And I could actually put in payment details to proceed with order!!

Two things from Anastasia Beverly Hills are currently in my Cult Beauty basket. The first is the Soft Glam Palette. (£43 from Cult Beauty).

irish beauty blogTo think I actually call myself a beauty addict and I’ve never owned an eyeshadow palette from Anastasia. It’s embarrassing really. This one just speaks to me. I feel like it has everything you would want. Transition colours, lid crease and liner colours. It’s pretty simple, but I think that’s what gets me with it. I think it’s going to be a great palette for makeup lovers but also artists too. It would make the perfect wedding day palette.

The other thing is probably on everyone’s beauty shopping lust list at the moment. The Amrezy Highlighter, again from Anastasia. (£29 from Cult Beauty).

anastiasia beverly hills

They’ve either just marketed this impeccably or it’s the shiniest highlighter out there at the moment. Every time I see the promo videos or pictures, drool comes out of the side of my mouth.

Ok, there’s another two eyeshadow palettes on my list currently. I have a weakness for them if you didn’t know already.

First up is the Urban Decay Naked Petite Heat. (Will be available in limited supply from the UD flag shop in Grafton street. Available everywhere else from the end of April. RRP is €32).

This is the Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette‘s little sister. Do I need it? No? Do I already own the original full sized one? Yes. There’s something about UD palettes that has me hooked though. I have a bajillion of them and still can’t get enough. This would make for a great travel companion. There, that’s my justification 🙂

My other palette want is, surprise surprise the Huda Beauty Desert Dusk. (€65 from Cult Beauty).

top irish beauty blogger

Anyone who has this palette just says you need it in your life. And if EVERYONE says it, sure it must be true. After trialling the brand with the Mauve Obsessions and the Smokey Obsessions, I seriously need to try more.

There’s another highlighter on my lust list, but hear me out. This is the limited edition Estée Lauder Golden Goddess Illuminating Powder.

irish beauty bloggerestee lauder bronze goddess

They release this every year as part of their Summer Golden Goddess Collection. Every year I want it and every time I decide to bite the bullet and get it…..it’s sold out! The packaging alone has me wanting this and I see so many YouTubers using it and the want grows. I can’t find it to shop for from here currently though, I will keep hunting!

I had a voucher and nearly bought the Nars Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation (€42 from Feel Unique).

nars foundation

I couldn’t get a sample though, so that put me off. I’ve seen so much hype about this foundation online though, so it’s made it back onto my want list. It’s meant to be long wearing with full coverage but still have a radiance to it. When I have cash money to blow, this is going to checkout!

The Ordinary Glycolic acid 7% Toning Solution is not exactly a financial stretch. (€8.70 from Cult Beauty).

beauty blog ireland

The reason this is still in my basket is because it’s an enigma, it is never in stock. This is like the Pixi Glow Tonic I love so much. I have a really old blogpost on it here. The Pixi one is 5% Glycolic, this one is 7% and nearly half the price. My oily, giant pored skin needs to try this.

Last on my beauty shopping lust list is the newest member of the Victor & Rolf Flowerbomb family (€71 for 30ml from Debenhams).

top irish beauty blog

This is Flowerbomb Nectar. Now I’ve yet to sniff this, but I adore Flowerbomb. I know it can be a bit heady and overpowering for some. I love how deep but still sweet it is though. I always have a bottle in my collection. This release intrigues me immensely though. You have the flowery bergamot goodness from traditional Flowerbomb but with a Orange Flower and Osmanthus twist. They had me at nectar to be fair 🙂

And there you have my beauty shopping musings. What’s in your online shopping basket?

Urban Decay All Nighter ConcealerMy lovely friend Sue aka @itscherrysue (she LOVES to be called that out in the non digital world FYI 🙂 ), very kindly gave me the Urban Decay All Nighter Concealer. How much of a sound dude is she?

Urban Decay All Nighter Concealer

We were having a cheeky pint after an event and she pulled it out her back and exclaimed, ‘Gem, this is too light for me, you should try it’. The most romantic words I ever did hear. Sometimes having blue skin comes in handy!Urban Decay Concealer

So what is the Urban Decay All Nighter Concealer? Well I am so glad you asked. This is a followup to their All Nighter Foundation, which I actually wasn’t a fan of. It didn’t work great for my skin. I found it just slipped around.

There is 14 shades in the concealer range and Urban Decay say it’s 73% more pigmented than their Naked Skin Foundation. What a peculiar statistic!irish beauty blog

I have the shade Neutral Fair (thanks to Sue). It’s definitely a shade or two lighter than my skin tone. This concealer is famously known to oxidise though. UD actually recommend you to opt for the lighter shade if you’re in between colours, so that’s definitely something to note.

For me, this is a thick, full coverage concealer. I find it does a really good job at covering darkness and pigmentation, including redness and blemishes. I do for the most part only use it under my eyes. It sets super quickly, so you have to work particularly fast with it to make sure it blends into the skin. But if you do, it applies really nicely. On me, once it’s blended and set with powder, it doesn’t crease or get caught in any fine lines. I don’t generally have major problems with that happening though. I think if you have particularly dry skin around your eyes, this might be a miss.

If you’re using a more full coverage base, I would be careful with applying this as you could go ‘cakey’ really is as it is quite thick in consistency.

I’ve heard talk of the Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation being compared to the infamous Tarte Shape Tape. As I own both, I will offer my humble opinion.

irish beauty blogger

I think I prefer the packaging from UD, it’s more sleek and I prefer a smaller doe foot applicator. Shape Tape comes with a huge one and I can sometimes find it cumbersome and a bit messy as it can retain a lot of product. They come in at a similar price if buying directly. ST is a bit of a pain in the arse to get in Europe though with taxes. QVC do sell it but with a decent mark up and a more limited shade range. You get 3.5 grams of product from UD, whereas ST has 10 mls! For me, Shape Tape wins over All Nighter just because it has a thinner consistency and blends easier but still has the coverage and the staying power.top irish beauty blog

Saying that though, I really do like the Urban Decay All Nighter Concealer. It does a really great job. You can find it online from Debenhams here.

This is a bit of an all over the place February Favourites!

february favourites

The cabin fever has gotten to me and the tangents are mighty. Hope you don’t mind a bit of rambling 🙂

february favouritesAs I write this, the snow is still coming down strong and after three days indoors, I miss civilisation. Ok, I am being totes dramatic and I hope everyone who stumbles across this post in real time is safe and warm. Oh and has enough bread and milk to keep you going. 🙂

In my cabin fevered state, I managed to add in a favourite that I spoke about already in my January favourites. I could have edited it out, but then I thought, I loved it enough to talk about it twice, so I must really like it!

irish beauty blog

It’s all beauty related chatter for February favourites 2018. I did try to see if I had anything else to add into the pot, but I want it to be genuine. Beauty is the thing I am consistently trying, hence the monthly turn around.irish beauty blogger

As always I’ll list and link everything below, just in case anything takes your fancy and you want a closer look.

Estée Lauder Double Wear Nude Foundation.

Maybelline Super Stay Full Coverage Foundation.

Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Primer.

Urban Decay All Nighter Concealer.

Huda Beauty Smokey Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette.

Kérastase Balancing Shampoo.

top irish beauty blog

And I think that’s it. It felt like so much more when I was talking to camera about them ha! I really hope everyone had a lovely February. March is off to a bit of a miserable snowy start, so surely it has to be all up from here?

Oh here is my Edinburgh haul in case you want to check it out!

As always thanks for clicking, I really appreciate it. Let me know if there was anything you were loving through the month of February.

*******PR SAMPLES INCLUDED IN THIS POST*******

Maybelline Super Stay Full Coverage FoundationI had seen the Maybelline Super Stay Full Coverage Foundation advertised on their Instagram page. I often take screenshots of product, to either spread the word, or to remind me to keep an eye out for them in store.Maybelline Super Stay Full Coverage Foundation

Maybelline say that it: ‘delivers 24-hour wear for concentrated coverage and a flawless finish that doesn’t fade or shift all day’.irish beauty blogI was in Dundrum Shopping Centre a few weeks ago and remembered to go to the stand and have a look. I was actually surprised we had it. We don’t always get the new releases as quickly as they do in the states.irish beauty blogger
I’ve been using it on and off for the past few weeks. Blindly, I picked up the shade Ivory. I didn’t swatch, I just picked it up assuming it was my shade. It’s probably a shade or even two too dark for me. There is a lighter shade in the collection, so if you’re a similar skin tone to me (NC20), get that one.

It definitely is a medium to full coverage foundation. The consistency of it isn’t too thick though. For example, I reviewed the Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation & Concealer here a while ago. This is a full coverage foundation and I find it harder to work with because it’s thicker in formula. I also find I can feel it on my skin even after it settles. I don’t find this with the Super Stay.

For me, the Maybelline offering is easy to blend for a more full coverage foundation. It doesn’t dry too fast so I can use a brush or a sponge with it and they both work really nicely. It covers redness and applies well over textured skin.top irish beauty site

The finish isn’t too drying either. I would class it as a satin matte finish. Not quite satin, not quite matte 🙂 It lasts reasonably well on me too. I do get some t- zone shine after a few hours (with primer and powder). There’s no oxidisation or major movement though.

Overall I really like it and find myself reaching for it a lot since I bought it.
I picked up the Maybelline Super Stay Full Coverage Foundation from Boots for €15.99. I think that’s a bit steep for a more ‘drugstore’ foundation. However I found it online here for €11.99. Have you tried it?

top beauty blogI have been using the Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer on and off for a few months now. It’s high time I tell you my thoughts on it 🙂

Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer

Off the bat I will say if you are looking for a light, breathable foundation, stop reading now. The Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer is not for you I’m afraid. If you like a more high coverage foundation, or perhaps you need something for a special occasion, then keep reading.

Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer

First up, I have to say I am not particularly a fan of the packaging of the Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer. I like the glass bottle, yes. But, it comes with a doe foot applicator attached to the lid. (Like the Rimmel Lasting Finish Breathable Foundation I talked about here). I am just not really a fan. I don’t tend to complain when there’s one on concealer but I like to decant my foundation onto my hand myself and apply.

clinique foundationirish beauty blogger

My relationship with it is a bit mixed. It’s quite thick, (not as thick as the Estée Lauder Double Wear for example though). You can have it at medium or full on coverage.

beauty blog irelandbeauty blogger ireland

I have the shade Alabaster. It goes on a little darker than my skin tone initially, but does blend in and match quite well after a few minutes. It has a more emollient texture, which for me, with more oily skin can be quite problematic as it can be hard to blend. If you have drier skin, the texture might work in your favour though. As you can probably see from the swatch here, it does gather in fine lines, so you do have to be careful and make sure to blend really well. I would definitely recommend using a primer before application as it will help with the settling. Once you work it into the skin it though, I don’t find it too heavy or uncomfortable.

If you have redness, slight rosacea or acne scarring, it will cover well and you can build it up on the areas you want more coverage. I don’t tend to bring it up to the eye area too much though, as it does settle. But if you don’t have that problem, it will work well for under eye concealing. The emollient texture means it’s not too drying. The staying power is decent too. I do always use primer and powder with it.

For me, I found I like this foundation mixed with something else. So I will add it to another foundation to bump up the coverage. I don’t like the finish on my skin by itself. That’s obviously just personal preference though. If you are looking for something with high coverage and you don’t mind having to work with it a bit, the Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer could be for you.
You can find it online here, or in store from Brown Thomas, Arnotts and even Boots. Have you tried it?

Rimmel Lasting Finish Breathable FoundationOne of my favourite, more affordable foundations for a long time, before I believe it was discontinued. (Damn them!), was the Rimmel Lasting Finish Nude. It was the one with the white top not the red one. I liked it the best because it wasn’t as thick, but it still gave decent coverage and lasted well on my oily skin. Their newest member of the range is the Rimmel Lasting Finish Breathable Foundation.

Rimmel Lasting Finish Breathable Foundation

First up, I got this pretty early on, I hadn’t seen much media hype about it. It took me a long time to figure out how to open the bottle. Yes, it took me longer than necessary to realise you have to twist the cap, not pull it. It has a doe foot applicator, not a pump like it’s predecessors. Not my favourite choice of application, but each to their own. You can dispense it onto your hand or a palette and use it that way if you prefer.

Rimmel Ireland

According to Rimmel, the Rimmel Lasting Finish Breathable Foundation: ‘Perfects your skin with light to medium buildable coverage. It is enriched with breathable skin technology and moisturises for up to 25h. Up to SPF 20.’

If you’re familiar with Rimmel foundations, you will be familiar with the scent. The flowery aroma is something to be weary of, it can be quite overwhelming at first, although it does die down as the product settles.

For me, this foundation definitely has a light but buildable coverage. It dries down more matte in finish than I expected it to. I’ve read other reviews and they said it gave a satin finish on their skin. Obviously all of this beauty talk is subjective. On me, it definitely has more of a semi-matte finish. I have the shade 101 Classic Ivory which matches my skin tone pretty well. It’s a little more warmer than my bare skin. I prefer this, as it makes me look less pink 🙂

Rimmel Lasting Finish Breathable Foundation_2949

It covers redness and slight imperfections, not so great with deep pores or wrinkles. The wear time on me is pretty good, although if you have more dry skin it’ll be even better. Overall, I rate is as a grand foundation. I don’t really get the breathable aspect of it though? It’s not super heavy on the skin, but you definitely know it’s there. Also, if you have a drier skin type, and are looking for a more radiant finish, this definitely won’t work either. I’ll for sure get wear out of it as a day time foundation. But, I’m not head over heels in love with it.

You can find the Rimmel Lasting Finish Breathable Foundation available in store from Boots and online here now. And I found it for the cheapest price online from a reputable retailer from Feel Unique here.
