Penneys PS Bronze Collection

I was very lucky enough to attend the launch of the new Penneys PS Bronze Collection. This collection includes a full range of tanning products. It covers prepping the skin, the tanning itself and the removal and application. They’ve literally thought of every product. I just have a few of them here to show you, including a pre tan exfoliator, pre tan primer, mousse, instant tan gel and a tan eraser. Everything is under a fiver!

The Penneys PS Bronze Collection also comes with a bucket load of new makeup products too.

You know I am ALL about the makeup, so I am going to give you a good oul look at the products I was lucky enough to take home from the event. The prices range from €1.50 up to €8.00.

First up we have the PS Bronze Shimmer Glow Powder Highlight in Golden Sands.

There is a matte bronzer called Bronze Queen. I have the shade Sunrise.

We have Instant Radiance Drops in Goddess.

I have two shades of the Bronze Loose Highlighter Powder.

Vacation and Island Life.

I just opened the lighter one so I can keep the darker more bronzed shade to give away to someone more suited to it.

There is Gloss Metals within the Penneys PS Bronze Range too.

There’s two here, Malibu and Tahiti.

One of the products I was super excited to see was the Metallic Cream Eyeshadows.

I bought two of these from the Nudes range and really like them. These are in the shades Heatwave and Bronzed.

This collection comes with what they are calling a Dewy Glow Highlighting Face & Body Butter.

We have a Contour & Shape Contour Stick. This is the shade, Shape, ironically 🙂

The cheapest products I have from the collection are actually two of my most used since I got them. These are the Nourishing Lip Oil Balms.

I have two shades, Cannes and Cuba. Cannes is nude, Cuba has a red tint.

There is three palettes in this collection.

First up we have the Vacay Vibes Complete Face Palette.

It contains a peachy blush, two highlighters, a matte bronzer, four eyeshadows and four matte lipsticks.

The Bronze Me Up Highlight & Contour Face Palette contains a matte cream contour and highlight.

Matte powder contour and yellow toned highlight. And then two shimmery powder highlighters.

Then finally, probably my favourite thing from the whole collection.

This is the Shade & Shimmer Eyeshadow Palette. Mine got a little damaged in transit, apologies for the dent 🙂

It contains 9 eyeshadows. Four shimmers and five mattes and smells like coconut. For €6, I am super impressed with this palette. Out of all the products, this is what I think I personally will get the most use out of.

The Penneys PS Bronze tanning products are in stores now. The makeup starts rolling in from the end of March.

Penneys PS Pro Makeup Brushes

This is my second Penneys post in the space of a couple of weeks. That must mean I am either going mad, or they are really stepping up their game! The last one was about their new individual eyeshadows here. It was more just a show and tell. This post is going to be on the Penneys PS Pro Makeup Brushes.

I’ve have been using these for a good chunk of time now, so think I can give a decent review on the ones I own. I wanted to use them and to clean them a few times, so I could show you properly how they fared.

They have pretty much all manner of brushes in this collection. I picked up the ones that I thought people would be interested in and of course I would actually use myself. They are all synthetic and from what I can see all under a fiver too.

I have nine brushes from the collection. Five eye brushes, and four face.

I have the Duo Precision Brush Set. This was €4.

It contains two eye brushes. One duo fiber pencil brush and a blending brush with a more splayed out tip.

The other double pack is The Duo Blending Brush Set. Again, this was €4. This contains a black bristled tapered shadow brush and then a blending brush very much like the Mac 217 just synthetic.

My last eyeshadow brush from the Penneys PS Pro Makeup Brushes range is probably my least favourite out of the ones I have. This is €2. It’s their Eyeshadow Shading Brush. Just personal preference but I find this a bit too soft to pack on colour with, and that’s what I would mostly use this shape brush for. I don’t get much use out of it.

I have their Touch Up Brush with is a duo fiber little domed brush. This costs €3. Generally, I use this for under eye powder or highlight.

This is the Large Duo Buffing brush is €4.

To me this is a standard enough large stippling brush. I have been loving this for applying bronzer.

I have been using their Large Powder brush for it’s complete name sake and loving it. This costs €4.

I’ve actually purchased very similar tapered brushes to this in the past that I found shed alot. The dye also ran dreadfully when I washed them. I can confidently say, neither of these things has happened with the Penneys version.

The last brush I have from the Penneys PS Pro Makeup Brushes range is their foundation brush. This costs €4.

This was the hardest brush to get my hands on and the one most people told me to get! It’s a soft, but densely packed, rounded, with a slight slant, kabuki brush.

Overall, I am a big fan of the Penneys PS Pro Makeup Brushes! I have used other brushes from the brand in the past that have ended up in the bin. These, however have made it into my daily rotation. I am picking up some of these brushes instead of my Zoeva, Sigma, Blank Canvas and even Mac. I have washed them all a few times now and haven’t had much hair shed as of yet. They all washed really well. (Have a click here to see how I clean my brushes).

The handles are plastic, so if you enjoy a more weighty makeup brush, these won’t be for you. All of the ones I have are soft, and do pretty much what they are supposed to do. I honestly cannot say anything bad about them, and generally I try to be objective here! If you’re in the market for some new brushes that work and don’t want to break the bank, look no further.

Essence & The Lovely Little Things Trend Edition

My posts on the Essence Cosmetics collections seem to go down well, so I thought I would throw another one into the mix. The newest one on the block is the Essence & The Lovely Little Things Trend Edition.

I have the majority of what will be available here. I am just missing the new nail polish shades.

The Essence & The Lovely Little Things Trend Edition has the cutest of packaging. The illustrations on all of the palettes is adorable! You can read more about the story behind them, directly on the Essence Cosmetics website here.

First up we have the Face Palette (01 & My Crazy Family).

It contains six powders. Two highlighters, two blushes and two contour shades.

This retails for €7.50.

There’s three eyeshadow palettes within this trend edition collection. The illustrations capture each name which is very cute. There is seven eyeshadows inside each palettes and they range from shimmers to mattes. We have 01 & My BFF On The Phone. The more nude of the trio.

02 & The Love Story With My Wardrobe. These shadows are more bronzed in tone. This one is probably my favourite of the three. The shadows seem the most pigmented in my humble opinion.

03 & Our Secret Date At Midnight. This is deemed the smoky palette.

All three of the eyeshadow palettes retail for €6.25 each.

There’s two flavoured clear lip balms in the collection too.

01 & You Smile, is strawberry scented.

01 & We Kissed, is mango scented.

There is a mini nail file too which retails for €1.90.

And then finally we have some nail and styling stickers. These can be used on your nails or to actually customise the products which is another cute touch! These cost €1.60.

The Essence & The Lovely Little Things Trend Edition is available in Penneys stores nationwide from the 14th of August until September.

NYX Cosmetics Eye Makeup Look

I received some NYX goodies in the post a couple of weeks ago. I had some single shadows of the same tones already myself, so I really fancied playing with them all together. This is where the Nyx Cosmetics Eye Makeup Look came about. I popped the camera on and sure didn’t I film it 🙂

I didn’t do a whole face of one brand, because I didn’t think I had enough product to warrant it. But I did have some cheek, mascara and lip products to add into the mix too. So, I added them in to finish off the look.

This NYX Cosmetics eye makeup look ended up being a little bit more ‘out there’ than I would generally go for. But, I was actually really happy with it how it came out. The single eyeshadows are really lovely and easy to work with.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Shapeshifter

John kindly bought me the new Urban Decay Naked Skin Shapeshifter for my birthday.

I asked him why because it wasn’t something I had hinted at or anything and he simply said. ‘Because you collect Urban Decay.’ Cannot argue with that logic 🙂

The Urban Decay Naked Skin Shapeshifter is a contour, colour correct and highlighting palette. It comes in two shade ranges. One for darker skin tones and then the one I have here which is the light medium shift, more suited to lighter skin.

The palette itself is quite narrow and is two sided. The creams are on one side. You get five in total.

And the powders on the other. You get four in total.

Both are separated by decent sized, double sided mirror and the palette has a magnetic closure. The packaging reminds me a lot of the Naked Smoky Palette which I reviewed here when it first came out.

The creams consist of a dark contour shade, a light contour, a colour corrector (peach toned), a colour corrector/highlighter (pink toned) and then a pearl highlighter. You get 2.15 grams of product in each pan.

The powder side consists of a dark contour, a medium contour, a light contour and a pearl highlighter. You get 3.7 grams of product in each pan.

Both the creams and the powders are really nice quality. They are all soft, pigmented and easy to blend. The creams do not have any slip too them which I like. And, the powders do have some kick back once a brush is introduced, like most Urban Decay powders because they are so soft in texture. I particularly like the lighter powder contour shade and the highlight shades in both. The dark cream contour shade is a bit too full and brown on for me though.

Here they are in action on my face. I used the cream peachy colour corrector and the pink colour corrector/highlight under my eyes and set it with the light powder contour shade. I also used the medium powder contour shade as contour. Then, the cream and powder highlighter shades to highlight the tops of the cheeks and the tear ducts.

I find the light contour shades on both sides a bit confusing. To me, they are both just yellow toned product. I would probably use both to brighten under the eyes. I really couldn’t see them being used as contour products personally.

Benefit Cosmetics! New Products!

I received a very cute package in the post this week from Benefit Cosmetics.

Seriously, they do the cutest packaging in the business! The Hoola family has expanded and there is also a new box highlighter in the mix too. I thought I would give a closer look at them, and of course swatch all the products here too.

I am a big fan of the original Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Bronzer.

It’s just a really good, build-able matte bronzer. You can find it on the Debenhams website here. At €34, it is pricey, but they do last a really long time.

They’ve now released a new version, Hoola Lite.

As the name would suggest, it’s Hoola, but lighter 🙂 It is matte and slightly cool toned. Definitely more suited to paler skin tones.

It is in the same box format, containing 8 grams of products. You can find it on Cloud 10 Beauty here.

The second new product being welcomed into the Benefit Cosmetics Hoola family is their Quickie Contour Stick.

This is a cream stick version of Hoola.

It’s super creamy and easy to blend. I think I would personally use this for warming up the face or for layering colour to help with longevity.

The last newbie on the scene is Dandelion Twinkle Highlighting Powder. Packaged the same as any of the boxed products. You get 3 grams of product within.

Benefit describe it as as, ‘delicate strobing powder’. It is a really soft light pink shade with a silvered sparkle running through it. It gives a very subtle highlight to the skin.
