colourpop cosmetics

Zoella collaborated with Colourpop Cosmetics, (just in case you didn’t know). Zoe lives in the UK and Colourpop are in LA, so to celebrate the launch of the collection, they had free world wide shipping.

colourpop cosmetics haul

I’ve bought from Colourpop Cosmetics before, seen here, and never had any issues. Since this order, I’ve seen articles about it being illegal for them to ship to the EU. Apparently they violate EU regulations. I just wanted to state that. I don’t want anyone being out of pocket at all. Always do your research. There’s yet to be an issue for me, but maybe I just got lucky. I always keep my order below the VAT threshold, so I don’t have to pay anything extra. The threshold is only €22 now I believe, before you could have to pay customs charges for orders from America. Because the shipping was free, no matter how much money you spent at the time, I made two small orders and sent them to two different addresses. colourpop international shipping

They both came in about a week. I am obsessed with having an eyeliner in every colour imaginable. In case you don’t follow me on Instagram and didn’t know that 🙂 My Colourpop order definitely reflects that, so might not be for everyone. They have loads and loads of products to choose from though, with decent packaging, quality and price tag.

I am not Zoella’s target market whatsoever, but I liked the look of her collection, so picked up the blush to try. I brought this away with me at the weekend, so excuse its grubby appearance. It’s called Soul Mate and it’s a lovely pinky peachy shade. For me, the payoff is subtle but buildable with this.zoella x colourpop

The Mar Pressed Powder Eyeshadow Palette came on my trip away too, so it has been used before photographing it for this post. The blogger shame is real 🙂

This is beautiful and the colour payoff is immense. I just wish I didn’t go for such a predictable shade. I have loads of similar colours in my collection already.top beauty blog

Lastly, I picked up three colourful eyeliners in three different formulas. I haven’t put any of these to the test yet.

Kiko Smart Cult Eyeshadow Palette - Matte RevolutionI hauled the Kiko Smart Cult Eyeshadow Palette in Matte Revolution here a while back. I picked up a few bits in one of their Brussels stores. (You can see a sneak peek of the store in our vlog of the city here too).

Kiko Smart Cult Eyeshadow Palette - Matte Revolution

As I said in the haul, I had seen the Kiko Smart Cult Eyeshadow Palette on social media before I went, and they were on my wish list.Kiko Cosmetics ireland

There is two to choose from. The Matte Revolution one that I have here and a Shocking Sparkle Shades too. I wanted both, but they only had the matte one in stock.

At first sight, this palette really is gorgeous. Obviously with a name like Matte Revolution, of course all of the shades are matte.

It comes in a sleek black palette, with a large mirror on the lid which is always appreciated.beauty blogger ireland

There is 12 colours within the palette ranging from a nude skin colour to a matte black. There’s more wearable cool toned mauve shades, with a couple of more warm browns with some fun colours thrown in for good measure. The shade choices are inspired by Autumn, which I think makes complete sense.

On first swatch, I was impressed with the Kiko Smart Cult Eyeshadow Palette matte palette. The shades seemed soft to the touch and had decent pay off.

irish beauty blogtop irish beauty bloggerirish beauty bloggertop beauty blog irelandbeauty blog irelandtop beauty blogger ireland

However, upon using this palette on the eyes, I have to admit, I am not overly impressed with the performance. Now, I know generally, for more affordable makeup brands, matte shades seem to be where they let themselves down. If you pack on one of the colours in a block form, so on the lash line or onto the lid, they’ll perform ok. However, if you try to blend them out, it just becomes a bit of a mess. The pigment disappears and you are left with just a muddy look on the eyelid. There’s also a decent amount of fallout.

Overall, I can’t say I could recommend the Kiko Smart Cult Eyeshadow Palette in Matte Revolution even for the price point and even with it having 30% off! I will get use out of it maybe over cream shadows or as coloured liner wet on the lash line, but as a palette it disappoints. I’m gutted as I love everything else I got in the haul, this is just a bit of a lukewarm purchase for me. You can pick it up here from the Kiko website.

Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink

It is not often I get lip products through the door and want to put on every shade straight away. I received the new Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Lip Colours last week.

Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink

I want to try them all out so I thought I would do it in blogpost form. This is definitely not a review. Although I have been wearing the mauve shade (surprise, surprise), from the bunch the last few days and have been really enjoying it.

It feels weird because my last post here was from the same brand. Not on purpose I promise I just really wanted to swatch these 🙂

Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink

My first impressions of the Maybelline Superstay Matte Lip Colours are, they are super easy to apply, really pigmented and I like the tear drop applicator. The tapered end makes applying them really easy. They dry down matte, which of course isn’t the most comfortable of lip formulas. But saying that this doesn’t seem to be the worst. And from wearing the shade ‘Lover’ over the past few days, I didn’t get any balling or patchiness. The formula does feel tacky on the lips though, even when it dries. Upon swatching all the colours for this blogpost, I can say they are a bitch to get off too. They require a decent amount of vigor and makeup remover. From a liquid lipstick perspective, in my book, that’s a good thing 🙂 I used an oil based eye makeup remover to remove the swatches, it worked really well. They smell of sweet vanilla so that is something to be mindful of, but once the formula is dry on the lips, it seems to dissipate.

The come in 10 shades. You can find them on the Boots website here for €14.99 a piece.

I have five of the most wearable shades to swatch here. Nothing ground breaking colour wise here. They do have some purples and nudes in the collection as well.

First up, there’s 15 Lover. This is the shade I gravitated towards first. My everyday go to lip colour is mauve. And I am loving this!

After swatching all five of the Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Lip Colours I have. I can honestly say I will hand on heart wear all five of them in everyday life. Not just for Instagram 🙂

Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Liquid Lipsticks
The formula although matte goes on really smoothly and easily. It doesn’t catch onto any dryness you might have. Although, I would always say be liberal with the lip balm before applying any matte formula.
What do you think? Do any of them take your fancy?

Too Faced Melted Latex

Too Faced are just constantly bringing out new products. I only road tested some of their new releases here not too long ago. There is lots more coming from the brand in the near future too. I have here one of their latest releases, the Too Faced Melted Latex Liquified High Shine Lipsticks. Try saying that with a few jars on you 🙂

Too Faced Melted Latex

There are 16 shades within the Too Faced Melted Latex range. I have five of the more wearable colours to show you here. That was my doing completely. Some of the colours are super fun, but they would have been completely wasted on me.

Too Faced Melted Latex

These are completely new to me, so this definitely isn’t a review. It’s more of just a try on of the colours in blog post form, so you can see them too 🙂 Of course, from the name Too Faced Melted Latex, we know these are going to be super shiny!

First impressions of the Too Faced Melted Latex lippes are, the colours are super opaque and…shock horror, super shiny 🙂 They are quite thick and sticky in consistency and if you have any dry patches or wet residue on the lips, they don’t apply greatly over it. Make sure to prep your lips before application. I really like the applicator and the range of colours is great too! They smell fruity, but the scent isn’t majorly over powering. If you are looking for a high shine, full on colour liquid lipstick, these could definitely be for you.

You can find the new Too Faced Melted Latex Liquid Lipsticks online now here from Debenhams. They cost €23 each.

******PR SAMPLE******

I haven’t done a round up like this in a while. So, here is five of my current budget friendly makeup favourites.

Current Budget Friendly Makeup Favourites

I am not a makeup snob by any means. If a product is good, it’s good, regardless of the price 🙂

Current Budget Friendly Makeup Favourites

My first budget friendly makeup pick of the minute is the very talked about Coverage Foundation from The Ordinary.

beauty blog ireland

I harped on about this here in a dedicated blogpost, so I won’t go into too much detail. But, I am a big fan. I always judge a foundation on whether I would pick it up to wear for a night out or going out all day. This is definitely one I reach for alot. I love the coverage, the finish and the longevity. Oh and may I add, the price point too!

My second choice will come as no surprise either (sorry ha!). The Maybelline Eraser Eye in the shade ‘Brightener’.

irish beauty site

I like both of the colour correcting shades (details on both of them here). I think I just reach for the Brightener more. I feel like I can get away with it just on it’s own. Whereas the ‘Neutralizer’ leaves a bit of a yellow hue to the skin. I am delighted these shades are available in Ireland now, because for me, the ‘Light’ concealer version, just wasn’t light enough. These work so much better.

My third budget friendly makeup favourite is another Maybelline Product. This is their Master Fix Setting & Perfecting Loose Powder.

irish beauty blogger

This is actually Maybelline’s first loose setting powder. It is super finely milled and applies really lightly and smoothly onto the skin.

top irish beauty blogger

It’s really mattifying, so I usually apply a liberal layer of it and then use a setting spray over top to lift the skin a bit. It absorbs oils really well though and definitely helps with the longevity of your makeup. It is a more pricey ‘affordable product’ at €13.79 from Boots here.

Number four is the Catrice Metallic Liquid Liner in 010 ‘Bronze Lee’. I bloody love that name 🙂

beauty blog irelandbeauty blogger ireland

You can see it in action is a previous blogpost here. These Metallic liners come in a couple of different shades, I believe. I need to find the others to add to my collection. I really like the formula and the finish. The shade is less intimidating than black or even dark brown. And I can generally create a flick with the applicator. When I can say that you know a liquid liner is half good. Feline flicks are not my forte at all.

Last on my budget friendly makeup roundup is the Maybelline Brow Artist Plumper.

top irish beauty blog

I am way late to the party with this one. I don’t know why I never tried it up until now. I have the shade Medium/Dark. I like that the spooley isn’t very tightly bound.

top beauty blogdublin beauty blog

It means it doesn’t hold onto alot of product. I can find with some coloured brow gels, it can end up all over your skin. This doesn’t leave your eyebrows feeling crispy either. It just adds a bit of a tint with some added fibers for fluffiness. It’s a really decent tinted brow gel. It costs €8.49 from Boots here.

And that’s my five current picks! Things that are actually in rotation on my makeup desk at the moment, that hopefully won’t break the bank 🙂

I already posted about the Serum Foundation here if that would tickle your fancy more. This post is all about The Ordinary Colours Coverage Foundation though. My personal favourite out of the two 🙂

the ordinary colours coverage foundation

The Ordinary Colours Coverage Foundation is as the name would suggest the more full coverage of the two foundations.

the ordinary colours coverage foundation

They both have the same 30ml plastic bottle with a rubberized pump (although you can buy a glass pipette separately if you would prefer).

the ordinary skincare

They both come in the same 21 shade ranges and are deemed SPF 15 here in Europe. I will quote Deciem for the pigment explanation because they do it better: ‘These foundations contain higher pigment levels than our Serum Foundations but still offer a smooth finish that avoids the heavy makeup look that can make skin appear more aged. The texture is that of a lightweight, non-oily cream.’  For me, this sums up the Coverage foundation perfectly.

I feel it’s a medium coverage foundation, that you can build up easy enough without it looking too caked on the skin. I definitely do not think it’s full coverage like Deciem say, but it’s a solid medium coverage which I can definitely live with.

top beauty blog ireland
irish beauty website

The Ordinary Colours Coverage Foundation is a little thicker in formula than the Serum. Here they are side so you can see the difference. Serum is on the left and Coverage is on the right.

top irish beauty website

On my skin, it applies really easily and smoothly. I always use a primer underneath foundation, which I thought was good to note. I have the shade 1.1N which is a decent match for my paler skin.

beauty blogger ireland

It has a semi matte finish on me. I say semi matte because although it’s not dewy, it’s not drying or heavy either. It blends really lovely and evens out my skin tone really well. It glides over my pores really nicely too and it doesn’t sit in any fine lines.

Before:

After:

I like this personally more than the Serum foundation for two main reasons. 1, it has more coverage. And 2 it lasts really well on my skin. This is a foundation I can confidently apply in the morning and know it will stand the test of time. The Serum foundation is lovely but I don’t have that longevity guarantee with it on my oilier skin.

This is a just a winner in my book! I really like it!

irish beauty blog beautynook

The Ordinary Colours Coverage Foundation is still awaiting stock on the Deciem website, but the link to order it is here. You can sign up to get an email when it’s back in though. That’s how I got my hands on it. It costs the same as the serum, a very reasonable €6.90. I thought it was good to add here that the Colours are alcohol free, oil free, silicone free, vegan and cruelty free.

Are you intrigued?
