dublin beauty blogI am sure you’ve seen buckets of social media pics of the new theBalm Cosmetics releases, so forgive me if this is repetitive.

irish blog

I received them all in a press pack though and was very eager to swatch. So, why not do it in blogpost form, right?

I am a huge fan of theBalm Cosmetics. They do some great products. I actually did a post a while here back creating a whole face of makeup using just them, if you fancy checking it out.

The newest products on the block from the brand consist of:

A new eyeshadow palette called Meet Matt(e) Shmaker.thebalm cosmetics eyeshadow

This actually has an intriguing concept. Every matte shade has a shimmery mate for company.thebalm cosmetics ireland

You get 12 shades, 6 matte, six shimmer. Here they are swatched from left to right.

First the top shades, which are lighter, more everyday colours.top irish blog

Then, the bottom. These are little bit darker and daring.irish beauty blog

Of course these are just swatched on my arm, so of course I can’t give a proper review, but they evenly and opaquely. Cloud10Beauty stock it online here.

Next up we have the Mr Write Long Lasting Eyeliner Pencils. (They have previously released Mr Write Now). There are six shades to choose from in the collection.top irish beauty blogger

I have five of them to swatch here. They are retractable kohl pencils. The sixth is a green shade called Seymour Vacations. There’s a Seymour theme throughout πŸ™‚irish beauty blog

I have:irish beauty blogger

Seymour Datenights which is a nude. Seymour Romance which is described as a prune shade. Purple to you and I. Seymour Compliments is a navy blue. Seymour Loveletters is medium brown. Then finally Seymour Diamonds is a matte black.top irish beauty blog

I’ve only really tried the brown shade properly so far. It smoothly lined my upper lash line and it worked well and lasted decently in my water line too.

As of yet, I cannot find a stockist of these online.

The last releases are probably everyone’s most anticipated!top beauty blog ireland

These are liquid versions of theBalm Cosmetics infamous Mary-Lou and Bonnie-Lou powder highlighters. Say hello to Mary-Dew Manizer and Bonnie-Dew Manizer. See what they did there? πŸ™‚top beauty blog ireland

cocoa brown travel setirish beauty blogger

They are all scented with the Tahitian gardenia scent which is now synonymous with Cocoa Brown with a hint of peach in there too. Cocoa Brown actually say the fragrance used in the products is so minimal that they didn’t technically even have to list the ingredients used on the tube, but they did which is nice. The Kind Range is derived from natural sources and contains coconut oil and fruit sugars. They are paraben, alcohol and formaldehyde free. Marissa herself suffers with dermatitis on her scalp so wanted to create and shampoo and conditioner that works for sensitive scalp and skin conditions. They’re also kind to coloured hair and extensions. An added bonus too, the products are ph neutral, so they won’t get interfere with your fake tanning!

The Cocoa Brown Kind Range Travel Set also contains their new Face & Body Self Tanning Wipes.

I was lucky enough to have lunch with Cocoa Brown yesterday to hear about (and of course receive) the new products. Marissa said upon talking to buyers of Cocoa Brown, there was a market for tanning wipes. So, she decided she wanted to release her own and do them right!

beauty blogger ireland

The wipes are said ‘to be an easy way to maintain your Cocoa Brown tan on the go’.

top irish beauty blogMarissa also made the point that when your travelling, the wipes won’t take up any of the liquid allowance in your luggage.

I will of course be giving all the products a go, so keep an eye on my social media to see how I get on. πŸ™‚

So there you have it, the newest Cocoa Brown Kind Range in travel form. What do you think?

It’s available in Cocoa Brown stockists since yesterday the 7th of June, so you can get your hands on it and try for yourself. Cloud10beauty have it to buy online here. The set is priced at €7.95.

These are the new Rimmel Colour Precise Eyeliner(s).

Rimmel Colour Precise Eyeliner

Well two of them anyways πŸ™‚

irish beauty blogI hauled these in my last YouTube video here if you didn’t catch it, along with some other makeup bits and bobs.

From what I can gather there are three colours in the new Rimmel Colour Precise Eyeliner range. A black, blue and a white. All of the white ones had been opened and ruined in the Boots I picked these two up in which is a shame, and I have been in another couple since and they were all the same!Β  So I only have two here to show.

The Rimmel Colour Precise Eyeliner(s) are new liquid liners to hit the Rimmel stand. They have a thin, tapered felt tip nib.

irish makeup and beauty blogRimmel say describe them as ‘Bold colours, clean liners, all day wear’.

The nib sold me on these. I am not particularly good with liquid liner especially trying to create a cat eye with one, although I do try my best and buy varied ones that come onto the market to try, in hopes I will find the perfect one for me πŸ™‚

I thought the felt tip applicator on the Rimmel Colour Precise Eyeliner(s) looked like a good match for my easily tickled eyeballs (yes that’s what I suffer from the most when trying to apply liner ha), as I could place the colour on with the length of the nib rather than having to draw it on completely.

The eyeliner itself is nice and opaque and applies without dragging the eyes too much and getting messy. It dries reasonably quickly not completely matte, but not super shiny either.

The blue Rimmel Colour Precise Eyeliner swatched

Here is the blue one applied to my eyeballs.

The blue liner at the end of the day, still in place.

It lasted really well throughout the day, there was no transfer onto my upper lid. I didn’t use eyeshadow primer to really test them on my oily eyelids. I just used some concealer and powder over the top.

The nib does dry out a bit if you’re like me and it takes you a while to get the line somewhat even, but a little shake seems to sort it out pretty quickly.

Here’s the black crudely applied to my eyes too. I actually don’t think a strong black line on its own really suits my eyes at all, but all in the name of blogging πŸ™‚

irish beauty blog beautynook

And after a day of wearing.

beauty blogger irelandThe black didn’t last as well as the blue on me throughout the day. It did smudge and transfer. Not majorly, but sure you can see for yourself here πŸ™‚

Overall, I really like the blue Rimmel Colour Precise Eyeliner. The colour is super pretty, applies well and lasts throughout the day. I would say the black is just OK. Maybe with eye shadow primer and shadow applied, it will last longer without moving on the lash line. And of course, if you don’t suffer with oily lids like me,it should last longer too. They are €7.99 from Boots here and with Rimmel always on special, they definitely won’t break the bank.

If you don’t follow me on social media, firstly eh why? πŸ™‚ and secondly you won’t have seen that I took the chop with my hair this week. I decided to go to Lisa in Zinc Hair and Beauty because I had heard such great things about her. I can attest to that and say I had a really great experience there and I would definitely recommend them! I was happy to find out my hair is in pretty good shape too, so it sparked the idea to talk about my current hair care favourites in a blog post πŸ™‚

hair care favourites beauty blogI am by no means an expert on hair care, these are just the products I am using at the minute and seem to be working for me. I have alot of hair, although the hair itself is quite fine. I also get oily roots really quickly so products can weigh my hair down and make it look flat and greasy. I have to be careful.

First up is my shampoo and conditioner.

joico irelandirish makeup and beauty blogThese are from the Joico Body Luxe Range. I got sent these at Christmas and only got around to using them in the last few weeks. I have really been liking them. These are designed for fullness and volume. I usually wash my hair twice with the shampoo and then add a little conditioner to the ends while finishing off the rest of my shower routine. My hair feels lovely and soft after using them and not at all weighed down.

After washing and to add a bit more conditioning…because I can’t get enough of it πŸ™‚ I’ve been using the Mane n’ Tail Olive Oil Complex Spray Therapy.

mane n tail irelandbeauty blog irelandThis is for shine, detangling and it’s a heat protector, score!

My hair comes out by the bucket load, honestly I shed like a dog, so something like this is great. I apply a layer to my towel dried hair and then use my trusty Wet Brush (I actually have a full review of this here).

the wet brush irelandThis combo seems to give me the less amount of breakage, it doesn’t tug on any knots and I’ve definitely noticed less hair in the brush afterwards.

If I know I am going to be washing my hair early in the morning or early in the day, I love to do a conditioning treatment the night before. I call it a treatment, I literally mean put loads of conditioner into my hair and pin it up when I’m going to bed πŸ™‚

alfaparf irelandmakeup and beauty blogger irelandThe last few months, I have been using the Alfaparf Precious Nature Leave In Spray. I spoke about doing this on my Snapchat a while back. I love giving mini reviews over there. My username is ‘Beautynook’.

It’s a leave in conditioner so it doesn’t make my hair hard and unmoveable when going to sleep. You know when you put a conditioning treatment in and then your hair is like a rock so it’s super uncomfortable? If I’m super fancy, I’ll even apply some, then throw a towel into the microwave for a couple of seconds to heat it up and then put my hair into it, the heat helps the conditioner on it’s way and your hair feels extra awesome then when you wash it! The Precious Nature Leave In Spray is made specifically for coloured hair. It’s also sulphate and paraben free.

The last thing I wanted to mention is this Joico Hair Shaker.

joico hair shakerirish makeup and beauty bloggerThis is a liquid to powder texturising spray. Now I know texturising sprays don’t make your hair feel particularly nice, but if you’re looking for extra volume, they are a fab addition to your hair care collection. I don’t like backcombing my hair if I can help it, it’s so bad for the condition of it and it makes my hair fuzzy. The Hair Shaker is cool because it applies to your hair as a liquid, so you can move your hair freely into your desired style. For me that’s pretty much straight or wavy I’m low maintenance ha, and then the Hair Shaker dries to a powder finish to hold the volume you created in place. I’ve used hair powders in the past and they are just messy and leave your hair looking dull because the powder is white. Charles Worthington do a texturising spray that I love too and you can buy in Boots.

There you have it. All the hair care products I have been truly using and loving over the last couple of months. I would have included dry shampoo in this too, but the one I’m using has been discontinued…devo!

You can buy Joico from Shampoo.ie

Salon places like Xpert Professional sell Alfaparf

And Mane n Tail is available in pharmacies nationwide.

Coloured Eye Liner doesn’t have to be scary and it doesn’t necessarily have to be used just in the traditional sense. This is a look I do alot when I want to do something fun, but don’t want to faff about too much. It’s simple and packs a punch πŸ™‚

Here’s the mug with some foundation and brows done.

irish beauty blog

To begin with I took a taupe shadow and added some definition into the crease, you know the drill by now if you’ve read my blog before πŸ™‚

makeup geekirish blogger

I want to keep the lid colour pretty simple but still look ‘done’ if that makes sense? Satin Taupe from Mac is a brilliant colour for this.

satin taupe mac cosmeticsI packed this all over the lid.

beauty blogger irelandTo blend it out and deepen up the crease I used a warm brown on a tapered brush in the crease.

makeup geek irelandmakeup and beauty blog irelandThen to just conceal any redness and lighten up the brow bone, I added a light shimmery shadow.

vanilla bean makeupgeekirishbeautyblog

I did a thin line of brown liner to the top lashes.

makeup blog irelandAnd added some concealer and added some mascara.

top irish beauty bloggerNot necessary but for a little definition, I used a couple of my beloved Penneys individual lashes on both eyes.

penneys lashesblogger ireland

I added a little wash of Satin Taupe under my eye and some mascara.

makeup and beauty blogI used Makeup Geek’s Shimma Shimma in my inner corner.

irish bloggerirish makeup and beauty bloggerThen onto the fun part, the liner πŸ™‚

I chose one of my all time favourites but anything you have that’s pigmented will work. You could even put a light liner on and then add some shadow of your choice over top.

This is Inglot’s Matte Amc Gel liner in 87, I’ll put a link to it here

inglot amc gel liner 87inglot gel liner irelandMine has certainly seen better days but a drop of Duraline (review here) brings it back to life.

I use a pencil to apply gel liner to my waterline. I find a brush too ticklish and uncomfortable, so dipping a liner pencil into the gel works for me, even if it’s not the same colour. You can always wipe it off after you use it πŸ™‚

easy fun gel eye liner lookAnd the eyes are done! An easy coloured eye liner look πŸ™‚

This is one of my favourite looks to do and as you can see it’s so simple. I always get compliments too which is nice.

Here’s the finished look.

Will you give coloured liner a go? Let me know. (that rhymes ha)

Ok, I’ll hold my hands up I’ve never actually used the Benefit Gimme Brow so I can’t really compare. But seeing it in action online and on other people I reckon the Essence Make Me Brow Eyebrow Gel is a really good…alternative to it πŸ™‚ And the best part is, it will only set you back 3 quid!!

Essence Makeup Me Brow Brow GelI picked mine up in Penneys/Primark but I am sure you can get this in any place that stocks Essence. I got the darker shade but there is a light one, which I might get aswell, to have, just in case πŸ™‚

Essence Make Me Brow reviewThe packaging itself is tiny and so is the brush which is awesome because you can really use it to catch onto every eyebrow hair. The gel itself is coloured and has tiny fibres on it to help bulk up the brows you already have. So you can use it on it’s own for a naturally enhanced look. Great for days when you just don’t feel like doing much but you want to look somewhat put together.

It doesn’t go hard or flakey which is a really important element. That is one of my pet peeves with brow gel. Your caterpillars still feel soft and…hair like when the gel has dried.

I personally have a hate relationship with my damn brows so I would usually use the Make Me Brow over powder or pencil or even both depending on my brow mood. But I have used it below on a clean brow to show you the subtle but definite difference it gives.

Beautynook brow before

Before Make Me Brow Application

Beautynook brow after

After Make Me Brow Application

Can you see it? Don’t judge my brow it’s the best one I have πŸ™‚

Honestly, I cannot say anything bad about the Essence Make Me Brow. Its such a great little product with a great little price to boot. If you’ve been toying with getting the Benefit Gimme Brow, give the Make Me Brow a go first, you’ve nothing to loose sure πŸ™‚
