What I Got For Christmas 2017 Beautynook

I’ve done it! I know it’s a controversial kind of post, but I love having a nose, so here’s my offering of ‘What I Got For Christmas’ 2017. We didn’t go to mad on pressies this year, but I did get some lovely bits and though I would chat through some of them 🙂

I’ll list some of the main things in case anything takes your fancy or you want to add anything to your list for next year.

John got me the L’Oréal Steampod. He bought it directly from Peter Mark in one of the salons. But you can find it online here.

My red lipstick for this season was the Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Lipstick in 56 Rouge Charnel. You can get in from Debenhams online here.

My very fancy lip balm is the infamous ByTerry Baume De Rose. He picked it up from Spacenk in store, but it’s online here if you want a closer look.

My future Fenty purchases will be from Harvey Nicks in store, but they also sell online here. You just can’t use gift cards on their website which is a bit of a pain.

Here is the candle I chat about close up. It’s a Malin + Goetz Dark Rum candle and John picked it up from Spacenk here.

My Chanel Mademoiselle Body Oil is from Brown Thomas here.

The Casio watch is from Asos. It’s not there anymore unfortunately. However they do have a a yellow gold one (which I want now as well), here. The bracelet is from TK Maxx so I can’t link it.what I got for christmas

Anything else, just holler 🙂 The full video is over on my YouTube channel here.

So, I’ve told you what I got for Christmas this year. It was a really nice chilled affair. I ate and drank loads and I’m still recovering. Now you tell me, what did you get?

Happy 2018. Hope it brings loads of lovely happy memories.

Thanks for sticking around.

Highlighters My Most Used At The MomentIf I’m wearing makeup, you best believe I have highlighter on! I sometimes just go for a more subtle liquid approach, or a mixture of liquid and powder. Generally though, powder highlighters are my jam.

most used powder highlighters

I am going to run you through the three powder highlighters in my collection that I gravitate towards the most. I’ve loads of lovely other ones, but these are my ‘don’t have to think about it’ picks. They work for me and last well throughout the day.

First up, is the infamous Mary-Lou Manizer from theBalm Cosmetics.thebalm

I think the majority of makeup lover have Mary-Lou in their lives, or one of her very lovely sisters.irish beauty blog

She isn’t too warm, she isn’t too cool. She’s the perfect in between slightly golden shade. The powder itself is soft and really easy to blend.irish beauty bloggerbeauty blog irelandirish beauty website

If you have yet to see Mary-Lou in the flesh, go check her out in your local Debenhams. You won’t be disappointed. She will set you back €19 online here.

My next choice in my most used highlights is one I picked up at Christmas time last year.becca shimmering skin perfector
This is the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Pearl.

If you have pale skin like me or even paler, this could be your perfect shade! It has more of a silvery tone, that can be more suited to pink toned skin tones. It gives shine without sparkle (all of the Shimmering Skin Perfectors do). They melt into the skin effortlessly. top irish beauty website

You can also use this wet if you really want to amp up the glow. I did a whole review on this when I first picked it up here. Becca is in store from Spacenk or online from Cult Beauty here.

My last choice is the more pink shade out of the three highlighters. It’s still has a pale gold finish to it on the skin, so works really nicely for me without looking too obvious. I like that look sometimes, but generally everyday, I just want a bit of shine.too faced prismactic highlighter
It is the Too Faced Prismatic Highlighter in Blinded By The Light.beauty blogtop irish beauty blog

This is the lightest shade in the three Prismatic Highlighters from Too Faced. There is a more pink shade too that I do use too, but this is just the one I reach for the most. They give such a lovely shine, nearly wet look to the skin. top beauty blogdublin beauty blog

I tend to reach for this more in the evenings. It looks so pretty as an eye shadow too. You can find these in store or online from Debenhams here.

And there you have my current faves. Any of them your favourites? What’s your most reached for highlighter?

affordable red lip look

I wanted to do an affordable red lip look, but with a really simple premise. I think usually,  especially this time of year. The normality is to go for a cat eye, gold or smoky eye with a bold lip.

Affordable red lip look

My vision for the affordable red lip look was a really simple olive toned eye with a matte red lip. I didn’t use any liner, just lashings of mascara. I wanted the lip to be the focal point, but also have the shadow play an interesting role too 🙂 Most of the time when I do my makeup, even for Beautynook, I just wing it! Not literally, of course 😉 But then sometimes, my imagination is so specific in what it wants. This was one of those times.

I ended up even leaving my hair up and messy. That literally never happens either! You can of course see me waffle about it in video form above, or directly over on YouTube here.

All of the products I used are affordable of course, and they’re all items I really enjoy too. I had applied my base and brows before turning on the camera, but they happened to be all budget friendly products as well.irish beauty blog

So, the main products I used to create my really simple affordable red lip look were:

Initially the Sleek Au Natural Palette. Although I did switch it up, it didn’t quite work for what I was going for.beauty blogger ireland

Inglot single eyeshadows in 305 and 419. You can buy them in store or online here.beauty blog irelandMax Factor Creme Bronzer. Review here.

Nyx High Definition blush in Amber. You can buy online here.

Wet n Wild Highlighter in Under The Midnight Sea. You can see more info on this here.irish beauty blogger

Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner in Red Diva. You can buy online here.

Bourjois Rouge Velvet Lipstick in 08 Rubi’s Cute. More info on this here.

And there you have it! I really like this look. It’s super simple and gives me low key grunge vibes. Let me know what you think 🙂

We all need a bit of festive glitter in our lives. I am bringing some in eyeshadow form, with this really simple, but effective festive sparkle makeup look.

Sparkle Makeup Tutorial

This sparkle makeup look is super easy to achieve and doesn’t require too much faffing around. I actually created it last week, when going out with friends. I already had some ‘daytime’ makeup on. So when it came to doing a more night time appropriate face. I really just went over what I already had on. It made me think this would be really great for going out straight after work. If you don’t have a lot of time, but still want to look put together.

You can check out how the full look comes together in video form here.

Beauty And Fashion Haul

I put myself on a bit of spending ban for a bit. It didn’t go great, I still managed to spend money. And I use the blog as a reason to buy makeup too, don’t judge me 🙂 But, we have a little holiday coming up and the season is changing so that’s a good excuse to go shopping for both beauty and fashion stuff, right?

We’re only going on holidays for five days and we’re going to spend most of it chilling by the pool, so I didn’t need much for that. But an excuse is an excuse.

Beauty And Fashion Haul

I ended up getting some beauty stuff from Penneys and Boots. I still haven’t let myself into Harvey Nicks to check out the Fenty stand. I know I’ll end up spending a fortune 🙂 Alot of the beauty stuff consists of mini products to bring away with us, but I did pick up a few other bits.

irish beauty blogger

For clothes, I didn’t go too crazy. I picked up some bits in Penneys and H&M in store. I went into Zara thinking I was going to spend a fortune, but they had feck all here in Dublin. Some online shopping happened on ASOS and Boohoo aswell for some holiday bits.

penneys ps makeup brushes

I am going through a bit of  a weird time with clothes at the moment. I’ve been trying to go to the gym a good bit lately. I haven’t lost tonnes of weight or anything. I still enjoy eating too much. But my body shape is changing every so slightly. So, I feel like I don’t want to spend a fortune on stuff that might end up not fitting in the near future.

Anyways, I shall stop rambling here. I do enough of it in the video :). As always you can click above to watch or click here to go directly to my YouTube channel.

Off the bat, I will say, I am not a very ‘typical’ romantic person. Romance to me is very simple. Give me time and give me food and I’ll be yours forever 🙂 Saying that, it’s always fun to have a reason to be a little creative with your makeup. So this is my interpretation of Valentine’s Makeup. I took major inspo from the gorgeous look Lily Collins rocked to the Golden Globes this year. The look was created by Fiona Stiles, using all Lancôme products.

Valentine's Makeup Look

Now, some obvious disclaimers, I do not look anything like Lily Collins, I am not as talented as Fiona Stiles and I am using no Lancôme products to do my makeup 🙂 I just really enjoy the idea of the soft pink eye and the bold red lip. Actually the beautiful Emma, creator of the blog Ol’ Green Eyes recreated this look on her social media too and did a beautiful job. So she has definitely inspired me aswell.

For my Valentine’s makeup look interpretation, I went a bit more shimmery on the eyes and used a more glossy red on the lips.

You can see my look take shape in the YouTube video above or you can click here to see it directly on my channel.

The main components of this Valentine’s makeup look for me, were the Nyx Lid Lingerie Eye Tint in Rose Pearl, I used that as a base on the eyes. You can see swatches of it here. I used the eyeshadow ‘Paranoia’ from the Urban Decay Full Spectrum Palette then over top. You can see this swatched in a previous post here.

The lip choice I went for was the Essence Longlasting Lipliner in 01 ‘Ready For Red’. With the Métier De Beauté Hydra-Crème lipstick in ‘Maraschino’ over the top. This is a new brand to Spacenk here in Dublin. John bought me it for Christmas and I am in love with the formula and colour. Pricey, but a really lovely treat.

And there you have my really simple ode to Valentine’s Day in makeup form. Let me know what you think. Would you wear red and pink together? I never thought I would, but I am actually in love with the combo now.
