Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define ConcealerI ordered the Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer along with their stick foundation and new liquid liner on a whim at like three in the morning. I couldn’t sleep so I was scrolling through Instagram and something came up about them. The trigger was pulled, and they were ordered ๐Ÿ™‚

Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer

There is so many comparisons being made online to it and the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer. I own Shape Tape, so that was justification enough in buying it, right? Makeup Revolution are more than well known for releasing ‘dupe’ products. Mostly of more expensive brands, which they do for a much more palatable price.beauty blog ireland

The Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer is definitely a more reasonable price, coming in at โ‚ฌ4.99! I have to admit, other than the chubby packaging it comes in, I can’t really compare it to Shape Tape. I feel like they’re two different formulas. ST is a much thicker consistency, longer wearing and more full coverage, in my humble opinion.

The Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer comes in a bucketload of shades, which is bloody awesome! 25 to be exact with different undertones to boot. I have the colour C1 which is a good match for me.top irish beauty blog

I actually like the doe-foot applicator more on the MR concealer over Shape Tape. It’s a bit smaller and easier to clean up under the eyes with.beauty blogger ireland

The consistency of this concealer is what I would describe as thick-ish. Perfect english I know. I just mean, it’s not Shape Tape thick, but it’s not runny either. It’s somewhere in the middle ๐Ÿ™‚ You can apply a fairly light layer of it and it will give grand coverage, or you can really build up the opacity. For me, it works better in a couple of lighter layers.

It is a super drying formula, in my opinion, so that is something to note if you suffer with creasing under the eyes. It sets super quickly too, so you have to work fast with it.

I don’t get much creasing personally and always set my under my eyes, so I haven’t had a problem with it myself. Here it is in action on my skin.

Overall, I think the Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer ย is a damn good, more high coverage concealer for the price point. On my skin type, I will just be sticking to using it under my eyes. I don’t think the staying power is quite there for the rest of my more oily skin.

Have you tried it?

Urban Decay All Nighter ConcealerMy lovely friend Sue aka @itscherrysue (she LOVES to be called that out in the non digital world FYI ๐Ÿ™‚ ), very kindly gave me the Urban Decay All Nighter Concealer. How much of a sound dude is she?

Urban Decay All Nighter Concealer

We were having a cheeky pint after an event and she pulled it out her back and exclaimed, ‘Gem, this is too light for me, you should try it’. The most romantic words I ever did hear. Sometimes having blue skin comes in handy!Urban Decay Concealer

So what is the Urban Decay All Nighter Concealer? Well I am so glad you asked. This is a followup to their All Nighter Foundation, which I actually wasn’t a fan of. It didn’t work great for my skin. I found it just slipped around.

There is 14 shades in the concealer range and Urban Decay say it’s 73% more pigmented than their Naked Skin Foundation. What a peculiar statistic!irish beauty blog

I have the shade Neutral Fair (thanks to Sue). It’s definitely a shade or two lighter than my skin tone. This concealer is famously known to oxidise though. UD actually recommend you to opt for the lighter shade if you’re in between colours, so that’s definitely something to note.

For me, this is a thick, full coverage concealer. I find it does a really good job at covering darkness and pigmentation, including redness and blemishes. I do for the most part only use it under my eyes. It sets super quickly, so you have to work particularly fast with it to make sure it blends into the skin. But if you do, it applies really nicely. On me, once it’s blended and set with powder, it doesn’t crease or get caught in any fine lines. I don’t generally have major problems with that happening though. I think if you have particularly dry skin around your eyes, this might be a miss.

If you’re using a more full coverage base, I would be careful with applying this as you could go ‘cakey’ really is as it is quite thick in consistency.

ย I’ve heard talk of the Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation being compared to the infamous Tarte Shape Tape. As I own both, I will offer my humble opinion.

irish beauty blogger

I think I prefer the packaging from UD, it’s more sleek and I prefer a smaller doe foot applicator. Shape Tape comes with a huge one and I can sometimes find it cumbersome and a bit messy as it can retain a lot of product. They come in at a similar price if buying directly. ST is a bit of a pain in the arse to get in Europe though with taxes. QVC do sell it but with a decent mark up and a more limited shade range. You get 3.5 grams of product from UD, whereas ST has 10 mls! For me, Shape Tape wins over All Nighter just because it has a thinner consistency and blends easier but still has the coverage and the staying power.top irish beauty blog

Saying that though, I really do like the Urban Decay All Nighter Concealer. It does a really great job. You can find it online from Debenhams here.

I’ve been talking alot about Kat Von D of late, Since they’ve parked their bums in Debenhams, I want to try everything! I did a post on the Shade & Light Eye Contour Palette here too if you are interested. This post is all about the under eyes though. I am giving my thoughts on the Kat Von D Lock It Concealer and the Brightening Powder.

kat von d lock it concealer

I picked up both products together a few weeks ago and have been using the pretty much consistently since.

There is a whole array of products in the Kat Von D Lock it line, ranging from face primer, to setting spray.
I’ll start out talking about the Lock It Concealer.

kat von d lock it

Off the bat, I love the packaging, specifically the doe foot applicator. It has a tear drop shape, so it works really nicely around the eye contours. I also love that it comes in an abundance of shade ranges, and they differentiate by tone too! So, you can get warm, neutral and cool.

I went with L5 Neutral, which is a really good match for me:

It has quite a thick consistency on the skin, but blends like a dream. It covers really nicely and brightens up the under eye area too. On me, it has yet to crease, flake or settle in any fine lines once I set it. I usually go in with a light (ish) layer, blend it in and then apply another dot to the darkest area of my under eyes.

Overall, I am a big fan of the Kat Von D Lock It Concealer. It gives me very similar vibes to the Clarins Instant Light which I am a huge fan of too! It costs โ‚ฌ26 from Debenhams in store or online here.

Next up we have the Kat Von D Lock It Brightening Powder.

kat von d lock it brightening powder petal

I bought this specifically to use over the concealer. I am sure if you wanted just a little brightens under the eyes without using a concealer, this could work too.

It comes in three shades, I picked up the lightest one ‘Petal’. It is a really finely milled loose powder with a peachy undertone.

With it being a loose powder and in a smaller container, it can get messy to use, I won’t lie. Saying that, it does a really lovely job at setting my concealer and really does help smooth out under the eyes, as well as adding extra brightness.

It feels like velvet on the skin and a little goes a really long way. It doesn’t leave your under eyes feeling tight or dry when you apply it. Again, this is another Kat Von D purchase I am glad I made. The Brightening Powder costs โ‚ฌ24.50. You can buy from Debenhams in store or online here.

Now, I just need to get my hands on the Kat Von D Lock It primer, foundation and setting spray and I’ll be good to go :). Have you tried anything from the range?

I finally got myself to the new Kat Von D Makeup counter in Debenhams! It’s been a long time coming. Well actually it’s only been up and running for a couple of weeks, but for me it seems like an age ๐Ÿ™‚ A few of you asked on social media when I shared what I bought for a video on the products. So, I thought I would do a first impressions using all of the goodies.

Not gonna lie, I want more or less everything that we have on offer here at the Kat Von D makeup stand, but I had to be logical. My budget won’t stretch to that! I did want to try the Lock It Foundation. I was only delighted that I even colour matched myself to the right colour. But of course that was the one shade that was out of stock. Devastating!

I picked up the Shade & Light Eye Contour Palette.

I am not surprised to say my first impressions of the new Kat Von D makeup I picked up are really good. I am sure I will be talking about them individually here in the very near future.

Have you picked up any products from the range? I need recommendations…pronto ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks for clicking.

The Catrice Makeup Transformer Drops are not a new phenomenon.

Catrice Makeup Transformer Drops

Many brands have their own offering of the concept. However, the Catrice Makeup Transformer Drops are the cheapest version I have come across as of yet on the market. That alone is exciting. Who doesn’t like a bargain? ๐Ÿ™‚

If you are unfamiliar with the concept, they are basically a pigment you can add into a foundation to either lighten or darken the shade and customise if to your preferred colour. These drops come in 15ml tubes.

Catrice Makeup Transformer Drops

As a pale skinned gal. The Lightening Catrice Makeup Transformer Drops are definitely something that could enrich my foundation wearing life. Alot of the time the palest shade in a foundation range is still too dark for me. The Darkening Drops probably won’t get much use from me personally, but they are equally as important for warming up foundations for darker skinned beauties. Or, of course for fake tan wearing days ๐Ÿ™‚

catrice makeup ireland

They have a light but creamy consistency that blends super easily with foundation. I was kind of worried about them changing how my foundation applies and lasts on the skin. But, after trying the lightening ones everyday for the past week or so, I can confidently say they don’t on me.

catrice cosmetics

Here it is in action on my skin with a foundation that is a couple of shades too dark for me. Now I will say, some of the transformer products on the market come in white which would give more colour scope. The Catrice offering are more of a very light skin shade.

The Darkening Drops work in much the same way.

I would say add product and mix as you go. The first time I played with these I ended up wasting alot. They’re called drops for a reason, a little goes a long way ๐Ÿ™‚

Catrice also say on the website you can use the drops for highlighting and contouring, which makes sense since they are pigmented and blendable, and of course the right kind of shades. Not something I have tried as of yet, but I definitely will at some stage.

Overall, I am a fan of the Catrice Makeup Transformer Drops. A variation of colours would be as always more beneficial to more skin tones. But, for the price point (โ‚ฌ3.95), they are a great addition to your personal makeup collection. They are available in retailers now.

The Too Faced Born This Way Concealer was majorly hyped when it first came out!

Too Faced Born This Way Concealer

I am way late to the party that’s for sure, but I did get there in the end ๐Ÿ™‚

The Too Faced Born This Way Concealer is meant to be a ‘naturally radiant concealer’.

Too Faced Ireland

It’s said to ‘vanish the appearance of dark circles, blur the look of lines and wrinkles for complete coverage’. It contains coconut water and hyaluronic acid.

You get 7 grams of product in the very nicely packaged tube and it has a standard doe foot applicator.

too faced debenhams ireland

For me, the consistency of the Too Faced Born This Way concealer is really nice and light. It blends evenly and smoothly onto the skin. I have the shade ‘very fair’, which has a more pink undertone. This is the shade I was matched up to by the lovely Elaine in Debenhams. I think it’s a good match for me.

Because the consistency is so light, I prefer to blend it in with a brush. I find a damp sponge soaks up too much of the product and you end up using way more. Here is one layer applied to one of my eyes so you can see the difference it makes.

Before:

After:

You can see my where I have applied the concealer is definitely a tad more bright, but the darkness is still visible. I do really like the finish and how easy it is to blend though. However, I have to add a couple of layers to see a difference:

irish beauty blog beautynook
beauty blogger ireland

On me, I haven’t noticed any creasing or flaking throughout the day once I set it with powder. It doesn’t settle in lines and it does glide over fine ones making them look less visible.

If you don’t suffer with major darkness under your eyes, this would be a great concealer for you. It does a great job at brightening and highlighting. My dark circles are not something I am majorly concerned about. I do have some discoloration though and find I usually have to layer up this product to counteract it. Most of the time I use a colour corrector and then the concealer. I don’t mind using two products, but if you like less steps in your makeup routine, obviously this wouldn’t be ideal.

The Too Faced Born This Way Concealer is available in store and online from Debenhams here. It costs โ‚ฌ24.
