Makeup Favourites of the momentI didn’t do monthly favourites last month. I went on holidays. Have I mentioned that already? 🙂 And just didn’t get around to it. So I thought I would have a look at my stash and talk about five of my makeup favourites of the moment. You know I like to do these things in fives for some reason. I have no idea why.

Makeup favourites

Five makeup favourites that have been on my face consistently for the past few weeks. All of these were on holiday with me. Although I will say I did buy two of them while I was there. But once I did, I didn’t stop wearing them.

First up is something I haven’t really shut up about and have a collective post on the range here.

In particular, this eyeshadow called  Zinc About You’, from the Essence Melted Chrome range has been making it onto my eyelids a lot.

It’s just a cool taupe pinky colour to wear on it’s own patted on the lid. You can check it out in that capacity here. See told you I haven’t shut up about it, I have a ridiculous amount of content on these.  But it also works within a full on makeup look. I wore it out for dinner more dramatically with a smidgen of glitter added over top and got so many compliments. And it’s only €3.80. Bloody score!affordable everyday makeup tutorial

Second of my current makeup favourites is something I got in a giant press pack from theBalm, seriously it was epic. This was one of the things that stayed in my possession from all the loot. It’s their Balm Beach Long Wearing Blush.

beauty blog ireland

It’s just a really un offensive, goes with anything kind of blush.

It has a bit of pink to it and a hint of peach, so I just feel like it works well for warming up my skin tone. It’s a blush you can build up or just add a wash of colour to the cheeks with, which is what I personally like. Just a really good staple.

Third up is a product I’ve bought time and time again through the years. I have a review of it here that I did years ago. Sorry about the brows 🙂

They’ve changed the name since then and it’s now called the Catrice Glam & Doll. I generally always use a waterproof mascara, just because they hold a curl better.irish beauty youtuber

I just bloody love this mascara. It lengthens my lashes, gives them volume and keeps the curl after I use an eyelash curlers. I bought a fresh tube to bring on holidays with me just because I know it works for me, and I am so glad to be using it again. It’s also less then a fiver and so readily available too.

My last two makeup favourites of the moment are holiday purchases from Kiko.

One was something specific that I went in for, although they didn’t have the exact colour. My lovely OG blogger friend Dee said to me the last time I went to Kiko to get their Water Eyeshadow in 200. Not only is it a lovely eyeshadow, it makes such a gorgeous highlight. I forgot that time, so I was made sure not to this time round.top irish blog

They didn’t have the shade unfortunately, but I did find a great alternative in 208 Light Gold.

These are specifically formulated to work wet or dry. I think as a shadow it’s better to wet your brush, as a highlighter it works perfectly as is. It’s a lovely light gold shade.  And I think €8.95 for a dual use product is pretty decent.

My other makeup favourite from Kiko was a last minute decision. And a bit random, but it totes worked out 🙂

This is the  Kiko Pencil Lip Gloss in 06 Pink Glitter.

It was €3.95, it’s pink, it’s sparkly and I bloody love it. I’ve never owned a gloss in pencil form. It’s not the easiest thing to sharpen because the product is quite soft, that’s definitely a downer. But, I love the colour, love the sparkle and love that you can draw your lip line and fill in with your lipgloss. It’s kind of ingenious, right?

And for now, I’ll stop rambling because this post is 700 words long 🙂

top irish beauty blogThere’s been a lot of talk about the new Urban Decay BackTalk Palette. Yes I was trying to be clever using the name there and what of it? 🙂

top irish beauty blog

I’ve had my eye on it since it’s release. As you probably know I am a huge Urban Decay fan just in general. I always keep informed about their new releases. And Jesus there’s a lot of them to keep up with. I may look at the brand through rose coloured glasses, but I always feel like they put their own spin on new trends. The products are generally really good quality too, so they keep me interested.

I’ve been really liking the Huda Beauty Mauve Obsessions Palette of late, so the Urban Decay BackTalk Palette is right up my mauve loving street.

Just in case you didn’t know the BackTalk Palette is completely inspired by Urban Decay’s best selling Vice lipstick BackTalk, which as you can see is a mauve lip lovers delight.top irish beauty bloggerurban decay vice lipstick backtalk

I recently went to a Masterclass in the Urban Decay Flagship store here in Dublin for the palette. They kindly gave me it to bring home and the lipstick too. I am obsessed with the lippie, it’s right up my street. Mauve, matte but not drying, opaque in colour and really comfortable. I can understand why it’s a best seller. We’re here to talk about the new release though 🙂

Urban Decay BackTalk Palette

The Urban Decay BackTalk Palette contains two components separated by a magnetic, removable mirror within the middle of it.Urban Decay BackTalk Palette

On one side we have blush and highlights, all within the mauve monochromatic theme.

Then if we flip over to the other side of the mirror, there is eight eyeshadow shades. Ranging from a pinky nude, to a dark coppered brown shade. Containing mattes and shimmers.urban decay BackTalk Palette Ireland

From left to right:

3 Sheets, Bare, Curve, Backtalk, Shade, Attitude, WTF, 180.

If I am being completely honest. Overall, this palette just doesn’t perform for me. There are some shades that I do like. The Party Foul highlighter is nice and I like Backtalk, Shade and WTF particularly. There’s no consistency to the formulas though. The lighter shimmer shadows Bare and Curve take a lot of work. I find the magnetic mirror really good in theory, as you can take it out to do your makeup or whatever. But if you leave it in it’s just a bit cumbersome when you are switching between sides. It moves around! If I hadn’t been kindly gifted this palette, I totally would have gone out myself and bought it. Would I have been disappointed with my purchase? I think I would have been yes 🙁irish beauty blog

I’ll definitely do a look over on my YouTube channel with the palette so you can see it in real action on the visage. For now, I’ll just leave you with my messy swatches.

The Urban Decay BackTalk Palette will be available from House Of Fraser and Debenhams in store and online from the 14th of June here in Ireland. The RRP is €43.00.

Does it float your mauve loving boat?

Now normally I wouldn’t be posting about something right after I get it. Unless it’s a new release and I want to show you swatches and up close pictures. The L’Oréal Infallible Blush Paint Longwear High-Intensity Palette, kind of falls into that category. And I will not be calling it it’s full name throughout this blogpost, it’s too bloody long 🙂

L'Oréal Infallible Blush Paint

I wanted to get a post up about it quickly because well they are new. But, they are also on special in Boots at the moment. A few people were intrigued when I showed this one I got on social media. So, I thought I would rustle together a quick post showing you it in action.

There are two shade ranges in the L’Oréal Infallible Blush Paint Palettes to choose from.

A more orange, peachy toned one called ‘Amber’, that looked a little dark for me.

I picked up the ‘Pinks’ one, just because I thought it would suit my complexion more.

L'Oréal Blush PaletteL'Oréal Infallible Blush Paint

Obviously this can’t be a full on review, I haven’t used the product enough. But I can give you a first impression and thoughts. Off the bat, the powders, yes they are powders, the name is a little misleading. They smell like sweets. If sweet scents isn’t your thing, this could be a deal breaker. You get 5 powdered blushes within the palette, totaling up to ten grams of product.

The pans are approximately a third bigger than a standard single Mac eyeshadow. Not the easiest to get a brush into, but it is doable.

Here they are swatched on my arm from left to right:

On first swatch and application, I think the blushes are really nice. They feel soft, have good colour pay off and blend nicely into the skin too. The lighter colours need a bit mroe building then the two intense shades. I am OK with that, it means I am in control of the amount of colour I apply. And they do build up nicely. I also think I personally will get use out of all five shades in the ‘Pinks’ palette. That’s an added bonus as sometimes there is one of two that just wouldn’t float my boat. Now as you can see not all the shades are pink, there is a couple more of a peachy tone, but we won’t split hairs 🙂

At the moment the L’Oréal Infallible Blush Paint palette is available from Boots in store and online here for €10.99 and L’Oréal are on 3 for 2. That’s why I wanted to get this post up now, as this palette normally retails for €16.99. So, if you like what you see, get shopping 🙂

Milani was one of those American brands that was always out of reach for us Irish makeup addicts. Not any more. It’s getting easier and easier for us to get our greedy mitts on what makeup we want from all over the world. This is both a good and a bad thing, depending on how you look at it 🙂

milani baked blush luminoso

The Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso is spoken about so fondly in the beauty world. Everyone who owns it seems to love it. Hence why I needed it in my life.

milani baked blush luminoso

It comes in gold plastic packaging with the 3.5 grams of product on the top and then a mirror and little brush underneath.

milani makeup irelandirish beauty blog sitetop irish beauty blog

The brush is ok. I probably won’t get much use out of it. It isn’t the worst though.

The blush itself is really nice. It is soft to the touch and applies lovely and smoothly to the skin. It’s a peach blush swirled and baked within a more iridescent golden peach colour.

top irish beauty blogger

The finish reminds me of Nars Orgasm blush if Orgasm was more peach and less pink. I can see why it is so popular. It is just a really universal shade that would work for most skin colours. It gives a really pretty peachy sheen to the skin.

As it is pigmented, I use a less dense blush brush to apply it to the apples of my cheeks. Too much of this product on my pale would make me look a bit clown like.

It lifts my complexion and makes my skin look a bit more alive. I do love a bit of blush 😉

You can see here one cheek has the Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso applied and one doesn’t.

Overall I am so glad to have this in my makeup stash. It’s one of those colours that goes with any type of makeup look. I have been picking it up non stop since I bought it.

You can get the Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso and other colours online from Beauty Bay here. They are priced at €9.80.

I managed to nab a Becca Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face Palette. Phew, that’s a mouthful, right? 🙂

Becca Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face Palette
I went in to Space NK Grafton Street just to have a look and ask about them as they had had a shipment the week before. Low and behold the lovely ladies told me they were getting another shipment in the next day and I could put my name down if I was certain I could be in to collect in that very day. And so, I did just that 🙂

Completely spur of the moment really, the Becca Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face Palette became mine.

Becca Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face Palette

If you don’t know already, Jaclyn Hill is a very successful American beauty You-tuber. She had previously collaborated with Becca Cosmetics and that was when Champagne Pop was born. (I have a full review of it here). The collection has now grown and includes: Champagne Splits which are a blush and highlighter combo. Liquid and cream Champagne Pop shimmering skin perfectors. There was also an eye-shadow palette that Becca controversially had to take off of the market because of quality issues and of course finally what I am showing you now, the Becca Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face Palette.

Becca Cosmetics

I really love the gold and white packaging of the palette. It is smooth to the touch, is a little weighty so feels nice in your hands and contains a large mirror in the lid, which is always appreciated.

It contains 5 powders in total. 3 blushes and 2 shimmering skin perfectors i.e highlighters.

Becca Cosmetics Ireland

We have Rosè Spritz which is deemed a luminous blush.

Amaretto – A mineral blush.

Pamplemousse – This is also a mineral blush.

Then we have the highlighter that started it all Champagne Pop.

And then finally, Prosecco Pop.

Here are all the powders swatched together just so you can get a sense of the colour differences and finishes.

Without the flash on

All of the powders are as you would expect from Becca super soft and pigmented. They swatched really nicely onto the skin. The blushes are a good mix of colours and finishes.  I use Champagne Pop alot already even though I think it might be a little too deep for my skin tone, I don’t care, I love it 🙂 I am foreseeing I might have the same problem with Prosecco Pop, it is very golden. But, it’s very pretty so I’ll make it work 🙂 I think it will make for a lovely eye shadow too.

The Becca Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face Palette retails in Ireland for €54 from Space NK if you can get your hands on it. They do have it on the UK website here though if you want to get it shipped and it costs £48.

So, let me know what you think? 🙂

Urban Decay released the rest of their Gwen Stefani collaboration goodies last week! The lipsticks, lipliners and the brow kit look beautiful…that packaging though? I only caved slightly and bought the blush palette.

Urban Decay Ireland

I got the eyeshadow palette when it was first released and I am so happy to have it in my Urban Decay collection. Have I ever told you, I kind of sort of collect Urban Decay palettes? 🙂 You can see the eyeshadow palette up close here if you are undecided about picking it up and want to see it in more detail.

I’m talking all things blush in this Urban Decay Gwen Stefani post though. Here she is in all her glory.

Gwen Stefani blush swatches

I am in love with the packaging, it’s sturdy, stylish and compliments the eyeshadow palette, which makes me very happy not going to lie, I love a good theme ha!

You get six shades of blush in the palette. They each contain 2.8 grams of product.

The colour range and finish is varied and as you would expect from Urban Decay they are pigmented and very smooth.

Here they are swatched on my arm for reference:

irishbeautyblogtop irish beauty bloggerThis is ‘OC’

beauty blog irelandurban decay irelandOverall, I personally really like the Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Palette. I think I would be more inclined to call it a face palette though. ‘Angel’ for example is more of a highlight shade than a blush. I would probably mix this in with other shades to change the colour or add shimmer to them. Also, ‘Lo-Fi’ to me is more of a warm bronzer shade. I think the other four colours ‘Cherry’,’Easy’ ‘Hush’ and ‘OC’ are really lovely blush shades and I will get plenty of use out of them day to day.

I don’t think this a definite go out and buy it release, but I think if you do pick it up you’ll be happy to have it in your collection. Also, they’ve made it limited edition which always makes us a bit more obsessed, right? Clever marketers 🙂

The Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Blush Palette will set you back €42 and you can buy it from Debenhams in store or online here and House of Fraser.

Let me know your thoughts?
