January Favourites 2018

It’s time for my first faves of 2018! Yep, it’s January favourites time. I think I say this in every favourites post, but didn’t that month go fast? I’m actually in disbelief that it’s already February.

Quick disclaimer! My camera for some reason was on a low resolution setting while I filmed this. I am not too knowledgable about the technical side of all this stuff unfortunately. So as a result, this video isn’t in HD. I apologise profusely. I wanted to upload it anyways, because I think if I filmed it again, it would be more contrived as I would be repeating myself. Hope you don’t mind.

My January favourites for this year consist mostly of beauty things, (shock horror), with one ‘fashion’ thing thrown in for good measure. I also chat….in depth about one oral hygiene product. I honestly didn’t think I had that much to say on the subject and I was going to cut a lot of it out. But it ended up being a little personal story about me along with a good chunk of jabber so I kept it in. Hope you don’t mind. I always worry people just want to hear about the products and thats it. But then I remember I want to try make videos I would actually watch and I love a bit of life waffle amidst all of the beauty talk 🙂

January Favourites 2018

As always I’ll list the things I chat about in case you want to learn more about them.

Oral B Electric toothbrush is just from Boots online here.

Design.Me hair products. The website is here. Salon Services has one of their products in stock online, so hopefully that means they will get more in over time.

Huda Beauty Smokey Obsessions Palette. You can buy online here. My review of the Mauve Obsessions is here if you want to check it out.beauty blogger ireland

Zoeva Matte Eyeshadow Fix is online here.beauty blog ireland

Catrice Lashes To Kill Pro Waterproof Mascara. It comes in non waterproof too. I actually think this was already a standing mascara, they might have just updated the packaging. Regardless, I bloody love it and have been using it everyday since it was sent to me. I can’t find it online, but it’s in Penneys and decent pharmacies nationwide now. I’ll do a full review of it soon so you can see it in action.

My very last January favourite is a pair of runners. I think everyone in the world has at the moment. Old Skool Vans!

I have the suede ones. John got me these for Christmas and apparently people say the suede ones are easier to break in. He got them from Littlewoods but I found them on JD Sports here.

And I’m done! Let me know what you were enjoying especially in January. Click here to check out the video in full and as always thanks for watching 🙂

As you probably know if you watched my ‘What I Got For Christmas‘ video. John very kindly got me a L’Oréal Steampod for Christmas.

irish beauty blogI say it all the time, hair is not my forte. I’m lucky enough that I have a decent mop on my head, so I don’t always think too much about it. I can straighten and curl it and that’s about as fancy as I get. I have quite the chubby face, so I wear it down most of the time, it’s kind of my comfort blanket. My previous straighteners was a GHD (that was around eleven years old). So a new one was definitely overdue.irish beauty blogger

After doing some research and listening to some of my awesome blogging buddies, the L’Oréal Steampod was decided on. I got the second generation one.L'Oreal Steampod Review

‘The Steampod 2.0 is a revolutionary hairstyling tool from L’Oreal. A combination of steam and pro-keratin technology helps to tame hair movement and leave it silky smooth, whilst protecting from heat damage’, according to L’Oréal.top irish beauty blog

There’s loads of videos and blogposts already on it. But I thought I would throw my opinion into the mix. And also give a very basic demo of it on my hair. I have a lot of hair, but it is quite fine and it tends to get limp very quickly. As always you can watch the demo and hear my thoughts by clicking on the video above. Or, you can click here to go directly to my YouTube channel.top irish beauty bloggerbeauty blog irelandbeauty blogger ireland

John got my L’Oréal Steampod directly from Peter Mark salon here in Dublin. I believe it was Liffey Valley. It’s generally cheaper online though. I found it on Look Fantastic here for the best price.

Let me know what you think. Have you tried the Steampod yourself? What’s your favourite hair tool or product?

I get a bit carried away when I am just chatting.beauty favourites

Have you any stand out beauty favourites from 2017? It was definitely a year for so many new releases, both good and bad!

As always thanks for sticking around these parts. For reading, watching, engaging and just being a part of this Beautynook journey with me. I really appreciate it. It definitely makes all the work a bit sweeter knowing there’s people actually paying attention 🙂

Hopefully 2018 is another deadly year for makeup!

What I Got For Christmas 2017 Beautynook

I’ve done it! I know it’s a controversial kind of post, but I love having a nose, so here’s my offering of ‘What I Got For Christmas’ 2017. We didn’t go to mad on pressies this year, but I did get some lovely bits and though I would chat through some of them 🙂

I’ll list some of the main things in case anything takes your fancy or you want to add anything to your list for next year.

John got me the L’Oréal Steampod. He bought it directly from Peter Mark in one of the salons. But you can find it online here.

My red lipstick for this season was the Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Lipstick in 56 Rouge Charnel. You can get in from Debenhams online here.

My very fancy lip balm is the infamous ByTerry Baume De Rose. He picked it up from Spacenk in store, but it’s online here if you want a closer look.

My future Fenty purchases will be from Harvey Nicks in store, but they also sell online here. You just can’t use gift cards on their website which is a bit of a pain.

Here is the candle I chat about close up. It’s a Malin + Goetz Dark Rum candle and John picked it up from Spacenk here.

My Chanel Mademoiselle Body Oil is from Brown Thomas here.

The Casio watch is from Asos. It’s not there anymore unfortunately. However they do have a a yellow gold one (which I want now as well), here. The bracelet is from TK Maxx so I can’t link it.what I got for christmas

So, I’ve told you what I got for Christmas this year. It was a really nice chilled affair. I ate and drank loads and I’m still recovering. Now you tell me, what did you get?

Happy 2018. Hope it brings loads of lovely happy memories.

Thanks for sticking around.

We all need a bit of festive glitter in our lives. I am bringing some in eyeshadow form, with this really simple, but effective festive sparkle makeup look.

Sparkle Makeup Tutorial

This sparkle makeup look is super easy to achieve and doesn’t require too much faffing around. I actually created it last week, when going out with friends. I already had some ‘daytime’ makeup on. So when it came to doing a more night time appropriate face. I really just went over what I already had on. It made me think this would be really great for going out straight after work. If you don’t have a lot of time, but still want to look put together.

You can check out how the full look comes together in video form here.

  • Urban Decay Original Naked Palette. You find here.
  • Stila Magnificent Metal Glitter Eyeshadow in Kitten Karma. You can find it online here.
  • La Girl Glide On Pencil. More info on this here.
  • Bellamianta lashes. You can buy them here.

irish beauty blogMyself and the Rouge Edition Velvets go way back! They’re one of my favourite liquid lip formulas. However, as much as I love liquid lipstick for it’s longevity, it’s not always the most comfortable formula to wear. This is where the new Bourjois Rouge Velvet The Lipstick comes in.

Bourjois Rouge Velvet The Lipstick

I wasn’t in the market for more lipstick, I have to be honest. I have ALOT. And most of the time when new collections come out, they are in the same standard colour ways to all of the other lipstick collections. This makes it hard for me to splurge and buy more than one for review purposes. But so many people have been saying such good things about the Bourjois Rouge Velvet The Lipstick formula. I couldn’t resist. I was also lucky to pick up fives shades from my awesome friends in Siopaella. They often have deadly beauty deals in their Cecilia street store.Bourjois Rouge Velvet The Lipstick

Not to sound dramatic or anything, but I am pretty blown away by the formula of these lipsticks. They are so soft and buttery and so bloody pigmented from the first swipe. Pictures are all well and good most of the time, but I wanted to capture the formula at work in video form too. So have a click here to see them in action on the lips.

I have quick arm swatches here too and close ups of the colours so all angles are covered 🙂

The bullet of the lipsticks is a tear shape which (in theory), makes it easier to hug the lips. Although you’ll see in the video, I have a tough time keeping the lipstick within my lip line. They’re just so darn pigmented!
