Get To Know Me Q&A

It’s been a while since I sat down and did one of these videos. I think this was the last one! My eyebrows have come a loooonggggg way since then 🙂 This time I asked on Instagram if any of you had any questions. Thank god you did! So if you want to get to know me a little better, click on the video above.

Would ya look at me posing, pretending I’m reading the lovely questions. I definitely am not, I was just trying to get a thumbnail. Also something you might not know about SEO, it loves pictures, so here’s another one 🙂

I don’t give my whole life away online. I don’t think there’s any real need and also, I’m not a hugely interesting person. But I think it’s important to get to know me a little. Instastories is where you see a lot of it, but it’s nice to shake it up every now and again.

I was really digging this super easy makeup look too, so I wanted to show that off a bit as well. And for anyone wondering, cause I would be too! My awesome Ms Piggy jumper is from Zara. I got it while we were in Spain, but I know it was here in store too for a minute. Obsessed is not the word, although it isn’t the best quality.

Affordable Everyday Makeup Tutorial

As per usual, I just thought of a concept for this video and then when into it and hoped for the best 🙂 This my affordable everyday makeup tutorial. It’s definitely more just me doing my makeup with affordable and easy to get hold of products here in Ireland. I call it a tutorial, just because it’s good for when people are searching for things online. A makeup enthusiast is what I am, not a professional 🙂

I kept things really simple for this affordable everyday makeup. The eyeshadow on the lid is the star of the show and then everything else just falls around it. This pretty much just me wanting to look more awake and alive. How did I do? 🙂

Some of the products I used I love and have been using for ages. Some are newbies that I am loving. And then there’s a couple I used for the first time. I talk through all of that in the video, so be sure to have a click. As always, I’ll link what I can below.

Primer: PS Beauty Matte Primer.

Foundation: Revolution Conceal & Define Foundation.

Brows: Maybelline Brow Precise Micro Brow Pencil in soft brown. Isa Dora Shaping Gel.

Eyes: Zoeva Matte Eyeshadow Fix. PS Nude Addiction Eyeshaow Palette. Essence Melted Chrome eyeshadow and liquid liner. Catrice Glam & Doll waterproof mascara.

Powder: Maybelline Master Fix Loose Setting Powder.

Bronzer: PS Bronze Bronze Queen Matte Bronzer.

Blush: Models Own Sculpt & Glow Contour Palette.

Highlighter: Wet n Wild Megaglo Highlighter in Precious Petal.

Lips: Catrice Lip Foundation Lip Pencil. Note Cosmetics Mattemoist Lipstick over top.

Then, I finished everything off with the CYO Fixing Spray. I used this because I had it. I can’t really recommend it in all honesty.

theBalm Balm Jour Creamy Lip Stain Swatches

This post on the new theBalm Balm Jour Creamy Lip Stain (s) is ridiculously overdue. I’ve been threatening to do this for like two weeks now. I even gave away the whole collection over on my Instagram last week. The PR were super cool and sent over two sets, how deadly of them 🙂

I have been using these pretty much every day since I’ve had them in my possession. They’re just a really easy lip product to throw on. The colours are really wearable, the formula is pigmented and easy to apply, as you’ll see in the video here or above.

Are the eight shades available in the new theBalm Balm Jour Creamy Lip Stain collection ground breaking? Absolutely not, but they did a really good job at covering all bases I think, so there’s a shade in here for everyone.

It’s good to note too, that the formula isn’t sticky either. Also, you get the best of both worlds with them. Gloss and high impact colour that leaves a hint of a stain behind when the shine wears off. I’m a big fan overall, as you can probably tell. If you’re a fan of their Meet Matt(e) Hughes Liquid Lipsticks, but are over the dryness of a matte liquid lip, these are definitely worth checking out in my very humble opinion.

I swatch all eight in the video, with just one dip into the tube, just to show you the colour pay off and how they perform. Here are all eight, as I call it, ‘arm swatched’ too, just so you can see the shades close up.

Hair Curling Tutorial

I am very hesitant to call this a hair curling tutorial. I’m forever hesitant to use that word anywhere on Beautynook to be honest. But, it’s what people search for, so I’m just jumping on the bandwagon. Don’t think any less of me 🙂

Myself and hair styling would not be the best of friends. I’m lucky in that my hair isn’t too unruly so I can get away with doing the bare minimum with it most of the time. There is really only two facets to my ability. Straightening, which I use the L’Oréal Steampod for. (Review here). Or, I can curl it, which I’m doing a lot of lately.

At first when I was asked a few times by you lovely lot on Snapchat and Instagram how I curl my hair, I kind of got embarrassed. I just think of myself as so shit at hair. I decided to give a ‘hair curling tutorial’ a go anyways though and as I got into it, I realised, maybe I do have a couple of tips that people might learn from. We all do these things differently, right?

I generally curl my hair when it’s freshly clean. I know most people don’t do that, but I have oily roots and if I did it on second or third day hair, it just wouldn’t be worth my while. I’ll use heat protection spray before drying and then just blast dry it. I used the fancy Dyson hairdryer in this video because we’re house sitting. Sad to say, I definitely don’t have one of these at home 🙁

I’ll link the vent brush here too that I use in case you like the look of it 🙂 I let my hair cool and let my really old but favourite Babyliss curling wand heat up. I like less uniformed waves rather than full on curls. That’s of course personal preference though.

I do one side of my head at a time, taking approximately one inch sections. I like the tousled look, so I don’t think too much about it, once all the hair has a bit of a wave I’m happy. Glam Purple Makeup Tutorial

This was like all my makeup look posts pretty much off the cuff 🙂 I needed to do my makeup, had some time so thought I would do a glam purple makeup ‘tutorial’.

I hate calling it a tutorial, but that’s what people seem to search so it just gives me more reach. As I always reiterate, I’m a makeup enthusiast, I know I’m not a professional. I had notions of attempting to do a cut crease, but my hands just wouldn’t let me, so this is what I came up with 🙂

There’s definitely a mix of high end brands and more affordable brands within this purple makeup look. I don’t think it’s too over complicated either.

I think I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. To me it’s a glam purple makeup look. I could see myself rocking this on a night out. Pretend I didn’t just do it and then sit on my laptop for the rest of the day 🙂

Urban Decay BackTalk Tutorial

Yes, I am talking about it again! I said I would 🙂 In the last post here, I gave you swatches and my initial thoughts on it. Now I am back with a full on Urban Decay BackTalk Tutorial! Lipstick included.

Usually I probably would have went a bit more neutral on the eyes showcasing a palette like this. But the lighter shimmery eyeshadows really don’t float my makeup boat. So my Urban Decay BackTalk Tutorial ended up being a bit darker than intended. But that’s ok and I hope it gives you an idea of how some of the better shadows work. I don’t want to write the palette off completely. I want to hopefully give you an indication of the good and the bad. I think most things in this beauty industry is up for interpretation. We all have different needs and wants.

I also used the namesake BackTalk lippie in this video, which I am really a fan of. This whole palette is based around this, their best selling lipstick.

I also used a dark purple liner to add some definition to the top lash line. Lots of mascara, top and bottom and then a flesh coloured liner in the inner rim of my eyes just to make me look more awake. I know pinks and mauves can sometimes make the eyes look a little tired if you don’t break them up a little.
