Lush The Man In The MoonDon’t be jealous, but last week I popped into Lush in Grafton Street to have a look at some of the new Christmas stock. Yes it’s not even Halloween yet and I’m talking about Christmas. This is the way of the retail world 🙂 I got to hang out, play with some bubbles and even got to make my own Butter Bear! I also very generously got to take home a goodie bag with me. Mine contained the new Lush The Man In The Moon Christmas Tin. Do you want to see what’s inside?

Lush Dublin

Lush The Man In The Moon comes in a really cool Christmas Tin. When I first saw it I was saying if you wrapped it up and gave it to someone, they would just assume it was a box of Roses or Quality Street. The theme of the tin is very much night time relaxing and helping you to drift off to sleep.Lush ChristmasLush Christmas 2017

It comes with eight products within. Two bubble bars, one sparkle jar, three bath bombs, a shower gel and a body lotion. You can have a look at it in full on the UK Lush website here.

Lush The Man In The Moon

First up we have the gift’s namesake, the Man In The Moon Bubble Bar.

irish beauty blogger

It’s very sweet and limey, but it has an underlying muskiness too. It will turn your bath green. Neroli and lime are the main components of the scent so that makes sense completely.

The Magic Of Christmas reusable bubble bar in the other bubble maker in the tin. I’ve actually had this before. I got it a couple of Christmases ago in the Lush Wonderland set here.

Cinnamon is definitely the main component for the Magic Of Christmas, which I’m sure isn’t surprising it all. The star is on top of a cinnamon stick 🙂

Almond is another scent front runner here as it contains almond oil. It’s very much Christmas in bath form. I am not usually a cinnamon fan, but I actually really enjoy this. And it looks so pretty too!

There are three Twilight related products within the Lush The Man In The Moon tin. If you like lavender, you will love these.

First up is the Twilight Sparkle Jar.

beauty blogger ireland

This is a massage bar, so you use it to moisturise your skin. Your body heat allows it to melt and then you can massage in the product. It contains lavender oil, cocoa butter, tonka and chamomile. It also leaves behind a gold sparkle, so probably not for everyday use. But nice for a special occasion over the festive season. You can press something pointy into the dimples of the crescent to get even more sparkle.

Next is the Twilight Shower Gel. You get a 100 gram bottle.

This again has lavender and tonka within. It also has Ylang Ylang oil.

Lush Cosmetics

The last Twilight offering is their well known bath bomb.

lush dublin

This contains all the main ingredients that the shower gel has with added benzoin resinoid. This is an anti inflammatory. This is one of my favourite bath bombs.

Next up we have the Sleepy Body Lotion. You get a mini 50 gram tub of this.

It has all the lovely ingredients of the Twilight shower gel & bubble bar with added oatmeal. It’s made specifically with sleep in mind.

The last two products are bath bombs. We have Shoot For The Stars.

This is honey scented with orange oil, bergamot and coconut cream. It turns your bath blue with golden glitter from the bath melt stars.

Last but not least is the Rocket Science bath bomb.

Mine got a bit of a bashing in transit, but he’s still lovely.

This is a slow fizzer so it’ll give you something to focus on in the bath 🙂 It has bergamot and lemon oil in it and turns your bath blue.

And there we have the Lush The Man In The Moon Christmas Gift Tin. I am a huge fan of Lush, so cannot wait to get stuck in. If I were more fancy, I would have shown you them all in action, but I didn’t want to waste anything 🙂 I’ve linked all of the goodies individually so you can see what they are priced at alone. What’s your favourite Lush product?

I definitely need more Makeup Geek products in my life! But, I am really happy with everything I have bought so far. The quality in my humble opinion is really great, as is the price point. Although, shipping from America is a pain for us Irish. Beauty Bay now stock the brand (albeit a bit more expensively). But sure look, I won’t get into that now 🙂

makeup geek favourites

I thought I would do a post of my most used eye products from the Makeup Geek brand. I love everything I have but these are five (yep for some reason five is my go to number for things like this :)) that I reach for a lot :).

I managed to whittle it down to two eyeshadow pigments and 3 single eyeshadows.

The first pigment is ‘Enchanted’.

This is just the most beautiful shimmery pinky purple colour. What a description I know! But it looks more pink or more purple depending on the light and if you use a base underneath it. I feel like this shade brings out the green in my hazel eyes which I really like. It packs a punch but isn’t too in your face or dramatic.

The second pigment is ‘Insomnia’.

This for me is like Mac ‘Club’ eyeshadow taken to the next level. This does actually come in eyeshadow form in the Manny Palette from Makeup Geek. It is the coolest green brown duo chrome pigment. You can just use this on your eyes and be good to go. Depending on how you blend it or what base you use, Insomnia looks either more green or more brown with an iridescent shine to it. It’s probably one of my all time favourite eye products…ever!

makeup geek eyeshadow

My three eyeshadow favourites came from my neutral Makeup Geek eyeshadow stash! I went with:

‘Peach Smoothie’ which is a matte light peach colour.

I think of this as like my eyeshadow eraser. I use it before I blend any colour in to the crease so they have something to blend into. I also use it after to diffuse the colour and make it more gradient.

‘Cocoa Bear’ is a warm rich matte, medium brown shade.

I use this shadow for everything. All over the lid, in the crease if I want to add some warmth. But, I particularly like adding some blown out under the lash line to add a bit of interest to a simple (or, not so simple look).

My last choice is the foiled eyeshadow ‘In The Spotlight’.

When I don’t know what I want to do with my eye makeup but I know I want to make an effort, this is my go to shade.

Foiled shadows are like a mixture between a cream and a powder and they have a metallic finish. ‘In The Spotlight’ is a shiny peachy coral-ly shade. Another great description Gemma 🙂 This is just the prettiest all over the lid shade, or it works great as an inner corner highlight. Depending on how much shine you want you can use this with a wet or a dry brush. Or you can be super lazy and just use your finger to pat it on. It works great like that too.

So there you have it. My five most used Makeup Geek eye products. Honestly, I love them 🙂

What’s your favourite? I need an excuse to go shopping 🙂

This green smoky eye is a look I tend to wear alot myself. For some reason I just gravitate towards green eyeshadows 🙂 I thought the run up to St Patrick’s day would be the perfect time to do a video on how I create it.

As with any makeup look, use the products you already have in your stash. You don’t need to go out buying anything (unless of course you want to 🙂 ) Most of the eyeshadows I used for this St Patrick’s day appropriate green smoky eye are from Makeup Geek, which if you’ve been following me for a while, you know I’m a huge fan of. I also dipped into the Garden of Eden palette from Sleek Makeup, which is a gorgeous eyeshadow palette full of greens and complimenting colours.

I ended up using a warm toned brown in the crease, but you of course could use a cool toned brown or even a grey or a black, it’s fun to experiment 🙂

If you like the video please let me know, I’m still really new to this youtube this, so I am just learning as I go. And if you fancy subscribing to keep up to date, just click on the link here and I will pop up in your subscription box. I am trying to do a one video a week at the minute, so if you have any suggestions of what you would like to see let me know too.

All the products that I used for the green smoky eye itself and the rest of my face are in the info box of the video on youtube, so if you click here and scroll down you’ll be able to see them.

As always, thanks for stopping by. I really really appreciate it 🙂

This little Zpalette contains my favourite and most used Makeup Geek neutral picks. It took a alot of planning and thinking to make this palette and I have to say I am quite proud of it 🙂

Makeup Geek IrelandIf you’ve followed me for a while, you know I am a huge Makeup Geek eyeshadow fan. I am huge fan full stop but my stash contains alot of Marlena’s eyeshadows. In fact as I am writing this it’s making me want to make another order, so I may have more before this post is through 🙂

So what Makeup Geek neutral eyeshadows does my favourite little Zpalette contain? I think there’s a good mix of light, dark, shimmer and matte in these choices. I would happily just bring this palette away with me and be able to create a multitude of looks.

There’s ‘Vanilla Bean’

Makeup Geek Neutral eyeshadowirish beauty bloggerIt’s a cream coloured satin finish shadow, works great all over the lid as a base, or a subtle eyebrow highlight.

‘Peach Smoothie’

makeup geek peach smoothieirish makeup blogThis is one of the best transition colours ever. Its great for a base in the crease, great for blending out colours, generally just great. I love it 🙂

‘Latte’

makeup and beauty blog irelandmakeup geek irelandThis is a cool toned matte brown. I would say I wear this shade nearly every time I wear makeup. I love it for defining the crease.

‘Brown Sugar’

irish beauty blogtop irish beauty blogSuch a pretty darkish shimmery brown shade. This is gorgeous on it’s own just all over the lid, or I love using it under the lash line too.

‘Cocoa Bear’

irish makeup and beauty blogmakeup geek neutral eyeshadowThis is a Makeup Geek Eyeshadow everyone needs in their lives. It is the ultimate warm brown shade. I love layering this on top of Latte in the crease when building up colour intensity. I am really fair skinned though, if you have warmer skin, this is the perfect crease colour. I love using it to smoke out under the lash line too.

‘Bada Bing’

beauty blogger irelandbeauty blog irelandBada Bing is Latte and Cocoa Bear’s really good friend.  Its a chocolatey brown with gold shimmer running through it. It’s great for darkening up the outer edge of the eyes to smoke things up, or across the top lash line or even all over the lid. The choice is yours 🙂

‘Spotlight’

irish beauty bloggerirish makeup bloggerThis is a Makeup Geek Foiled Eyeshadow. It’s shiny, it’s shimmery and it’s peachy perfection in my opinion 🙂 I love wearing this all over the lid, as an inner corner highlight and even layering it on top of eyeshadows to add an extra something. The foiled shadows are even more shiny and pigmented if you use them with a wet brush…I need more!

‘Bling’

Makeup Geek Neutral shadowirish makeup and beauty blogBling reminds me of Shroom or Nylon by Mac. It has a high shine satin finish nearly but no shimmer particles. A great inner corner highlight or I’ve even used it as a face highlight!

The last of my 9 neutral Makeup Geek shadow faves is:

‘Cosmopolitan’

irish blog irelandirish beauty blog makeup geekEveryone needs a shimmery copper eyeshadow in their lives I think. It’s the type of shade that looks gorgeous on every eye colour. A wash of this over the eyes and you’re good to go.

So there you have it my prized favourite Makeup Geek neutral shadows. Have you any? What’s your favourite Makeup Geek product? I need to be enabled 🙂 You can buy directly from the Makeup Geek website here (although customs are an issue so be careful with how much you spend). Beauty Bay also sell Makeup Geek here, they are a little more expensive though.

Thanks for stopping by.

Makeup Geek is finally available on Irish shores without customs. Wohoo! I am a huge Makeup Geek fan and have been since Marlena first started releasing makeup. I have some eyeshadow swatches here if you want a closer look at some of them and some of their awesome pigments swatched here too.

Since Makeup Geek is finally easier to get a hold of. You can purchase it from Beautybay I thought I would pull some of my shadows out and do a festive look with them. I went with green as I thought it would be a great choice coming up to Christmas and I really like green on my hazel eyes. It works on pretty much all eye colours though.

Make Geek Eyeshadows

As always I primed my lids and used Vanilla Bean all over my lid to set it.

makeup geek irish

Then I took Latte, a cool toned brown and used this to start defining my crease a little, with a fluffy brush.

makeup geek beautybayirishbeautyblogirishbeautyblog beautynook

Next I took the star of the show Envy.

makeupgeek irelandI took a flat brush and packed this on the moving part of my lid up to the crease.

irish beauty blog beautynookirish beauty bloggerThen blended out the edged with the brush I used to apply Latte.

irish makeup and beauty blog

I wanted to warm things up a bit so I took the shade Cocoa Bear.

makeup geek cocoa bearAnd applied this into the crease to blend everything together.

For a little pop of lightness on the lid, I added some Appletini.

Makeup Geek Irish Beauty Blog (12)I just used my finger and put a little bit on the middle of my lid.

Makeup Geek Irish Beauty Blog (13)Then, blended it into Envy with the flat brush I had already used.

Makeup Geek Irish Beauty Blog (14)

I used some more Vanilla Bean on a fluffy brush, on my brow bone to just lighten it a little more. Vanilla Bean has some shimmer running through it but it’s really light.

Makeup Geek Irish Beauty Blog (15)

So now you look like you got punched in the face, don’t worry we can fix that 🙂

To add some definition to the lash line, I took Makeup Geek’s black shade Corrupt.

beauty blogWith a bent liner brush, I did a thin line across the top lash line.

makeup and beauty blogtop irish beauty blog

Now we can clean up the under eye, this part helps so much. Most times when you work with dark colours, you’ll get fall out and things can look so messy. I just used my foundation brush to clean up under my eyes.

top irish beauty blog beautynookConcealer time then, one of my favourite parts of makeup 🙂

irishbeautyblog beautynook

I curled and added loads of mascara to my top lashes, then it’s time for the lower lash line.

I used Appletini first on a smudger brush just in the middle.

easy makeup tutorial beauty blogI then added envy to the inner and outer parts with the same brush and blended both colours together.

More mascara on the bottom lashes.

You could totally leave things like that then.

I wanted to add a bit more (as always). So I took Makeup Geek’s Shimma Shimma and added it onto my tear duct, blending it into the shadow on the inner corner of my eyes.

Lastly I took a black Kohl pencil. This is Urban Decay’s Perversion.

This went onto my upper and lower waterlines.

irish beauty blogtop irish beauty bloggereasy christmas makeupTo make the Kohl pencil last a bit longer I added a bit of Makeup Geek Corrupt over the top just to lock it into place…and then we’re done! I kept the rest of my makeup really simple and just added a brown nude lip colour.

There you have it, my take on a green smoky eye using some Makeup Geek shadows. Let me know what you think and hope you’re enjoying the Christmas countdown 🙂
