Everything I chat about in my beauty favourites video here, I believe has it’s own blogpost. Of course, I talk about them somewhat in depth within video form. But if you want to see close ups and more put together reviews, I will link the posts below. I am much better at putting my words together when I write them down. I get a bit carried away when I am just chatting.beauty favourites

  • I don’t have a stand alone review for the Urban Decay 24/7 pencil in Torch, but I did use it in a makeup look here.

Have you any stand out beauty favourites from 2017? It was definitely a year for so many new releases, both good and bad!

As always thanks for sticking around these parts. For reading, watching, engaging and just being a part of this Beautynook journey with me. I really appreciate it. It definitely makes all the work a bit sweeter knowing there’s people actually paying attention 🙂

Hopefully 2018 is another deadly year for makeup!

I’ve known the Penneys PS Custom Eyes Eyeshadow and Palettes have been coming for a while. The press launch was a few weeks ago, but now they are officially in Penneys/Primark stores!

I picked up mine in Mary Street here in Dublin. There is two palette sizes to choose from. It’s €2 for the four pan palette or €3 for the nine pan.
There are 30 Penneys PS Custom Eyes eyeshadow shades in total.

They range from neutrals, full on colour to black. They are all magnetic and will set you back €1 each. Here are all the shade names: Ice, Bone, Stripped, Sun Kissed, Gold Digger, Baked, Firecracker, Brick, Hot Coco, Carbon, Naked, Stone, Peachy Keen, Peony, Tickle, Antique Bronze, Vermilion, Burnt, Crimson, Espresso, Truffle, Pistachio, Basil, Tidal, Earth, Opal, Cranberry, Slate and Royal.

I picked up one of the nine pan palettes and then nine eyeshadows to go in it. So altogether what I have here set me back 12 quid.

There was actually a really decent amount of shades available in Mary Street when I went in to have a look. A lot of the more warm, wearable shades were sold out though. But I am not surprised there really, and I’m sure Penneys will keep restocking them. So, don’t be discouraged if you want to get your hands on some, just keep an eye out.

My first impressions of the Penneys Custom Eyes eyeshadows are really good. These are the first Penneys eyeshadows that I would actually recommend to people. Other than their highlighting palette which I did a review of here a while back. I haven’t been majorly keen on Penneys powder products.

I did a whole look with the eyeshadows when I first picked them up.

Penneys PS Custom Eyes

All of the shadows are from the Penneys PS Custom Eyes range, except I used a bit of matte bronzer in the crease. I just didn’t have a shade to take on that job 🙂 The shimmery lid colour applied best with my finger. That’s something to be weary off. But the colours, overall are pigmented, soft, blend well and with primer lasted the day on me too.

Here are all nine shades I have finger swatched and named:

Some of the colours need a few layers to pack a punch and you will get fall down. But overall for the price point and the variation in colour and finishes, the shadows get a thumbs up from me.

Have you picked up any of the Penneys PS Custom Eyes shadows? Are you a fan?

‘Guess who’s back, back again?’ Well you know from the title really. It’s favourites time. Yay! It’s time for me to round up my March Favourites and give you an insight into why they have been floating my boat for the last few weeks.

Be honest with me, do you actually like monthly favourite posts? I, myself love reading what people have been loving. I would like to think we use and love the products for more than just the month in question. It’s really weird that you definitely gravitate towards different things though for spurts of time. Especially months that we are transitioning into different seasons, so you tend use different products.

My March favourites consist of as always mostly beauty (I am a beauty blogger first and foremost of course :))

Obviously I go into more details in the video above, so you can just click on it or go directly to my YouTube channel here.

I filmed this after a few funny days personally. It was also a few funny days in ‘blogging world’ too. So I ramble a bit and am a bit scatterbrained, I hope you don’t mind 🙂

The products I mention are:

  • Rayban Clubmasters. John bought me these a few years ago now from Asos here. I always buy from Asos in pounds, it tends to work out cheaper.
  • Jo Malone Basil & Neroli Cologne. I have a full review on this here.
  • & Other Stories Fleur De Mimosa Body Lotion. I got it in store here in Dublin but they sell online here too.
  • Vita Liberata Body Blur. Beauty Bay seems to have this for the cheapest I can find online here.
  • H&M Colour Essence Pencil in Raw Umber. They are on the H&M website here. I got mine in store.
  • Stila Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Cream Eyeshadows. I have a full review of the two I own here.
  • Mac All That Glitters single eyeshadow. I got this from Brown Thomas in store. You can buy online here.

This will be my first attempt at reviewing fragrance here on Beautynook. I have always shied away from it, because I don’t think my way of writing is eloquent enough. But, I adore fragrances. I remember everything by smell, so I thought it was time I stepped out of my blogging comfort zone and just did it. Here are my thoughts on the Jo Malone Basil & Neroli Cologne 🙂

Jo Malone Basil & Neroli

I have had a few Jo Malone fragrances in my life. My favourite so far is probably their Wood Sage & Sea Salt. The fragrance doesn’t linger on me unfortunately, but it smells incredible. I was lucky enough to be gifted the Basil & Neroli very kindly by The Loop a while back now, so it wasn’t a scent I decided upon myself.

And actually I am one of the few people in the world who doesn’t enjoy the scent of the Tom Ford Neroli Portofino, so I am so surprised by how much I am enjoying owning this cologne.

Jo Malone Cologne

According to the Jo Malone website here, Basil & Neroli’s heart note is Neroli which comes from the blossoms of the bitter orange tree, hence the citrus zing you get from it. The base note is white musk, which obviously provides the muskiness and then the top note is Basil which plays in with the citrus, while also giving a peppery element to it too.

Fragrance smell different on everyone, it depends on your pH balance. On me, the Jo Malone Basil & Neroli dies down to a sweet zesty scent with a hint of musk. It’s a scent I think I would equate more with the colder months. I wear it more as a daytime scent personally and I find it lingers really well on my skin without being over powering.

It’s a unisex cologne which I can totally get on board with. I think the mixture of sweet and musk can work perfectly for both men and women. Although of course, it is completely up to you what fragrance you wear 🙂

You can pick it up in different sizes from The Loop directly if you’re traveling or you can do click and collect here. It’s obviously a little cheaper to shop duty free (€87.20). Of course can get it in Brown Thomas on counter, or from the website here. The 100ml will set you back €109. It will also be a permanent fixture from them too!

Jo Malone Basil & Neroli launched this past September. It is the first cologne from the brand in 20 years that has basil as the top note. Lime Basil & Mandarin was the last! I thought that was a good tit bit of information to add in, to end this post 🙂

Have you tried it?
