October Favourites

A fresh month means a fresh start…..and monthly favourites 🙂 In this post and video we are delving into my October Favourites.

October Favourites

October Favourites for this year consist of all beauty products with one fashion fave! It’s been a bit of a pain in the arse of a month, I won’t lie. So I am very happy to see the end of it. Also, Halloween isn’t my favourite time of the year. Banger scare the bejesus outta me. I spent Halloween night cleaning up dog pee. Poor Rosie doesn’t like them either. I’m sure she is happy to see November come too 🙂

As always I’ll list all the products I mention and link what I can.

  • Missguided Babe Powder EDP. I found is cheapest from Cara Pharmacy here.
  • The perfume I am comparing it too is the Dior Poison Elixir. This is a really old perfume, actually I didn’t realise how old it it! I don’t actually use this bottle, I just kept it cos’ it’s fancy 🙂 I can’t seem to find it for sale online anymore. Brown Thomas have an eau de toilette version here.
  • I speak about the L’Occitane Shower Oil next. I have this link in my haul video here.
  • Barry M Liquid Chrome Highlighter Drops. I did a whole blogpost with swatches on these here.
  • Elf Mineral Primer. You can get your hands on this in Penneys. It seems to be the cheapest online in the EU from Superdrug here.
  • The Too Faced Hangover 3 in 1 Replenishing Primer And Setting Spray. Yes that is a mouthful 🙂 You can buy it from the Debenhams website here.
  • And then my last October favourite for this year is some very loud ankle boots from Penneys. I make no apologies, I love them 🙂

And there you have all my October favourites in a nutshell. Be sure to let me know what has been floating your boat. It definitely doesn’t have to be beauty or fashion related, I dabble in other subjects too. Be sure to click on the video above to hear me to more about everything. Barry M Liquid Chrome Highlighters

When I saw the Barry M Liquid Chrome Highlighters being advertised on their social media pages, I got very excited.

Barry M Liquid Chrome Highlighters

I have been wanting to try a full on metal liquid highlighter for ages now. Ever since I swatched the Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops when they were first released here in Space NK. At the time, they were all sold out, so I couldn’t even splurge on one. We can get a hold of them now but at around 35 quid, they are pretty pricey.

Barry M Liquid Chrome Highlighters

So I’ve been biding my time waiting to try the Barry M Liquid Chrome Highlighters. They were initially just available through the Barry M website. I didn’t splurge there because it’s nearly a tenner just to ship them to Ireland. Now, finally they’re available on the Superdrug website. You can get them in store throughout the UK I believe, but not here, yet anyway. Superdrug do free shipping to Ireland over a tener, which is bloody fantastic!

I picked up two of the five shades available. I chose the ones that I actually thought I would use day to day.

Precious Pearl, which is a more white based liquid. more suited to pale gals like myself. In powder form this would remind me of the Shimmering Skin Perfector in Pearl by Becca Cosmetics. (Review here).

So white based like Pearl, but this has a pink iridescent shimmer to it.

The formula is really light weight and as you would expect from a liquid highlighter, quite runny. They leave a shimmery shine to the skin. Not full on glittery, but there is shimmery flecks running through them. For me, application is best with a duo fiber brush or beauty blender. They do leave a bit of an oily residue on the skin. It dies down somewhat as it sinks in though.

Overall, I think the Barry M offering for the price and accessibility is really good. I don’t think they pack as much punch as their more expensive predecessors. But as a ‘drugstore’ alternative, they’re really nice.

You can get the Barry M Liquid Chrome Highlighters now on the Superdrug website here. They are £6.99.

I’ve always had a bit of an obsession with blue eyeliner, but as of late, it has gotten a bit out of control 🙂 I am perfectly OK with my obsession. It is a bit of fun, and adds a bit of interest to a simple makeup look.

top irish beauty bloggerThe 80’s called and said, ‘Well done you’re doing a better job with it than we did!’ 🙂

Aqua or turquoise tend to be my blue eyeliner shades of choice, but I do dabble in other hues.

My most recent favourite and probably the one that gets the most questions, is the Inglot AMC Gel Liner in 70.

Blue Eyeliner

This is more of a matte sky blue.

Inglot gel liners are some of the best I’ve ever used. They last so well and come in a plethora of colours. I use this mostly in my waterline for a fun pop of colour. But a slick of it on the top lash line and lashings of mascara, looks awesome too!

irish beauty blog

TOP TIP: If your gel liner is starting to dry out, use something like Inglot Duraline. (Review here). Or Paese Drop & Fix to bring it back to life.

The shade that sparked my turquoise obsession was the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Pencil in ‘Electric’. beauty blog irelandThis is just the perfect vivid turquoise shade with a bit of sparkle I have ‘Gonzo’ too which is similar, but matte.

The Urban Decay Pencils are super creamy and last really well. A lot of more affordable brands do their own awesome version of this shade.

I have two here from Essence and Note Cosmetics that I love aswell.

I use this shade the same as I would the sky blue. On the top lash line and in the waterline. I love to smudge it out on the lower lash line too, even with some matching shadow on top to intensify it.

Now I can’t talk about blue eyeliner and not throw navy into the mix. It’s such a great alternative to black or brown.

I did have a liquid one, but I seem to have misplaced it (duh). I love a navy winged line, I think it looks great on all eye colours. It adds a hint of something different without being over the top dramatic. It works beautifully in the water line, and on the lower lash line too though. These ones are from Barry M and another one of the Essence Longlasting Eye Pencils.

I would like to thank my lovely blogging pal Sinéad from The Beautiful Truth for inspiring this post. She has been killing the blue liner at the mo. And the lovely Yav aka Makeup Monster. I had put a pic of all of the blue in my collection up on my Instagram a little while ago. It was her that told me I need to write a post. Thanks gals 🙂

The only question left to ask is….would you rock blue eyeliner?

The metallic lip trend has hit the beauty world with a bang. I won’t lie, I think I may be too old and uncool to pull it off. But that does not stop me from trying whatsoever 🙂 I picked up the new Barry M Matte Me Up Metallic Lip Kits while browsing the new makeup in Boots.

Barry M Matte Me Up Metallic Lip KitsI had points burning a hole in my Boots card and wanted to buy something fun. The colours are quite wearable, so I thought I would have some fun swatching and writing about them. And then hopefully even attempt to wear one of them outside the comfort of my own home 🙂

Barry M Matte Me Up Metallic Lip Kits

I had picked up a couple of the original Barry M Lip Kits when they first came out and did a post on them here. I, overall liked them. The consistency was inconsistent though and I feel like the metallic version are the same. Although using both the lip liner and the liquid lipstick together makes all the colours opaque and vibrant. And they are of course sold as a pair.

The Barry M Matte Me Up Metallic Lip Kits come in three shades.

barry m matte me up

Being a lip kit, they come with a lip liner.

And, matching liquid lipstick.

I’ve swatched all three on my arm and on the lips to show you them in action.

First up we have ’24 Carat’.barry m boots

Next up is ‘Allure’. barry m ireland This is probably my favourite because in my opinion, it’s the most wearable shade. Although the liner is a little harder to work with than the other two shades. It’s not as soft and opaque in colour.

The third shade in the Barry M Matte Me Up Metallic Lip Kits is ‘Prestige’.

They all dry down to a matte, non transferable finish with obviously a metallic look.

Like with most matte liquid lipsticks on the market, they do feel somewhat tight when they dry down. That is something to be weary of.

You can buy the Barry M Matte Me Up Metallic Lip Kits in Boots in store or online here. I got the three on offer as the brand are on 3 for 2 right now. They cost €8.99 each.

Would you wear any of the shades?

I filmed this on St Patrick’s Day. I decided to be lazy during the day and just watched the parade on the TV and veg out. For the evening though, myself, John and some friends went for some festive drinks 🙂 So, I blarred the music, turned the camera on and filmed myself doing my makeup. You know a love a get ready with me style video. This is my night out makeup look on behalf of St Paddy!

I wanted an excuse to use my new Stila Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadow in ‘Kitten Karma’.

irish beauty bloggerStila Magnificent Metal Kitten Karma

I bought mine off the Stila website directly here. It pains me to say it cost over €30 to get it shipped here, but it was sold out everywhere else. So, I took the hit, because I had major fomo 🙂

I’m doing a post on these kind of begrudgingly because there are three shades of the Barry M Matte Me Up Lip Kits. But I, like a bad blogger only have two. They were all sold out in the Boots stores I went too, please forgive me 🙂

barry m matte me up lip kits

The shade Runway (that I don’t have) is on the Boots website here. It’s seems to be a coral red shade.

I bought the Barry M Matte Me Up Lip Kits, if I am being honest, just to see what they were like. My love affair with liquid lipsticks is slowly diminishing. Don’t get me wrong, I have a couple of faves that I still use. But, the dry lip scenario usually gets the better of me and I end up reaching for a lipstick instead. I always have a plethora of lip choices on the go with me. I am fickle 🙂

Obviously these are quite similar to the Kylie Jenner lip kits. I am sure there is no coincidence there. So onto the swatching. I have the shades Pose and Go To. They come boxed up. There is a liquid lipstick and lip liner in each box.

barry m makeup

First up we have the shade Pose.

I have them swatched on my arm:

And then here they are on my lips. The lip liner on it’s own and the topped with the liquid lipstick:

The next shade is Go To.

I actually thought from the box packaging on this that it was going to be much lighter than Pose. Turns out Pose is definitely the lighter colour of the two nude shades.

top irish beauty website

I could take a photo of the actual liquid lipstick opened next to the pencil. It is really liquid-y, so it kept spilling out!

Here is the pencil swatched on my arm:

And then the liquid lipstick next to it:

Finally, the two products in action on the lips:

Barry M Matte Me Up Lip Kits_7973

The formula of the lip liners is really nice. They are soft and apply easily and opaquely. The liquid lipsticks are the same. Of course if you don’t like the dry texture of liquid lippies, you will not enjoy these!

For me, personally I like the pencil in the Pose kit, the colour of the lipstick is not flattering on me whatsoever though. Go To is more up my alley. I am in love with the pencil as well as the shade of the liquid lipstick. Even though the formula is a little more loose, it applied the same to the lips. They both dried really quickly and one layer applied an even, opaque coat of colour.

All three of the Barry M Matte Me Up Lip Kits are priced at €9. You can get them from Boots and Superdrug and I believe they are limited edition. You can buy Pose online from Boots here and Go To here.

What do you think?
