Maybelline Eraser Eye fans here in Ireland have been waiting way too long for these to launch!

The Maybelline Eraser Eye Neutralizer and Brightener Concealers are now available in Boots and Superdrug. I also spotted the Brightener one in Mc Cabes Pharmacy on my hunt for them too!

Maybelline Eraser Eye

It took me a long time to warm to the original. I realise now it was because the lightest colour wasn’t light enough for my skin tone.

Maybelline Eraser Eye Neutralizer

The consistency and coverage is on point though! I also like the sponge tipped applicator, I know it’s not for everyone. These are not only meant to conceal. They’re also meant to treat the under eye area too and help with puffiness.

Maybelline Eraser Eye Brightener

Both of these have been out in the States for literally years, I just didn’t think they were going to release them on these shores. But, low and behold they crept onto our Maybelline stands and I for one am very happy about it. If you follow me on Snapchat (shameless plug, I’m just Beautynook over there), you’ll know I went to three different Boots to source both of the colours! That is makeup dedication right there. Shout out to John for chauffeuring me around πŸ™‚

The first new shade on stands is a Neutralizer.

This as the name would suggest is for neutralizing any discolouration you might have under the eyes.

It has a yellow undertone to cancel darkness, but is also quite light to brighten things up too.

The second on is a Brightener.

This, like the Neutralizer is quite light in colour with more of a pink tone.

This is meant to conceal but also bring light to the undereye and by doing that make you look more awake.

I’ve actually been using both of these together, just because I have them though. I wouldn’t suggest you need both of them in your life. Like the normal Maybelline Eraser Eye, they have a really light consistency so you can build up the coverage without the product caking up under the eyes. The formula sets really quickly so you have to work fast as you blend. I’ve been using the Neutralizer first to counteract darkness. Then, adding the Brightener over top for some extra coverage and lightness.

The new Maybelline Eraser Eye shades are available in stores and online now. Here is the Boots website link to them if you want to have a look. I picked mine up in Boots for €13.79 a piece. I know Superdrug were doing a really good deal on them though if you are looking to sniff out a bargain πŸ™‚

Are you intrigued?

We made it halfway through 2017! How did that even happen!! The start of a new month means I have to look back and catalogue some of my most used products. Yes, it’s time for my May favourites πŸ™‚

I decided to rock a red lip for this video! Thought I was only brilliant, until I started to edit the footage and realised it was smudged for most of it! Epic, lipstick fail. Just pretend you can’t see it, OK?

My May Favourites don’t consist of many things, but I think the choices are mighty πŸ™‚

We have the Penneys PS Pure Glow Highlighter Powder Palette. I have a full review of this here, so I won’t ramble on about it too much.

I spoke about one of my favourite primers, Benefit Porefessional.Β  The original YSL Touche Eclat. I’ve been using this in conjunction with Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer. Very much a jump on price in both of these, but I love them equally. Then, I couldn’t not add in The Ordinary. I’ve harped on so much about this brand over the past few weeks.

My Asos earrings that I forgot to put in the picture above so here’s a very candid back lit one of me wearing them!

And then the last of my May favourites came in the shape of some rose gold Nike Cortez and fish net ankle socks. Not for everyone, but I am digging the trend.

As always you can watch me waffle on more about my May favourites by just clicking the video at the top of this post, or directly on my YouTube channel here.

Happy June! Hope you have the loveliest month. I have lots to look forward to, so I’m very excited for the next few weeks πŸ™‚

Thanks for watching, I really appreciate it.

The Too Faced Born This Way Concealer was majorly hyped when it first came out!

Too Faced Born This Way Concealer

I am way late to the party that’s for sure, but I did get there in the end πŸ™‚

The Too Faced Born This Way Concealer is meant to be a ‘naturally radiant concealer’.

Too Faced Ireland

It’s said to ‘vanish the appearance of dark circles, blur the look of lines and wrinkles for complete coverage’. It contains coconut water and hyaluronic acid.

You get 7 grams of product in the very nicely packaged tube and it has a standard doe foot applicator.

For me, the consistency of the Too Faced Born This Way concealer is really nice and light. It blends evenly and smoothly onto the skin. I have the shade ‘very fair’, which has a more pink undertone. This is the shade I was matched up to by the lovely Elaine in Debenhams. I think it’s a good match for me.

Because the consistency is so light, I prefer to blend it in with a brush. I find a damp sponge soaks up too much of the product and you end up using way more. Here is one layer applied to one of my eyes so you can see the difference it makes.

After:

You can see my where I have applied the concealer is definitely a tad more bright, but the darkness is still visible. I do really like the finish and how easy it is to blend though. However, I have to add a couple of layers to see a difference:

irish beauty blog beautynook

On me, I haven’t noticed any creasing or flaking throughout the day once I set it with powder. It doesn’t settle in lines and it does glide over fine ones making them look less visible.

If you don’t suffer with major darkness under your eyes, this would be a great concealer for you. It does a great job at brightening and highlighting. My dark circles are not something I am majorly concerned about. I do have some discoloration though and find I usually have to layer up this product to counteract it. Most of the time I use a colour corrector and then the concealer. I don’t mind using two products, but if you like less steps in your makeup routine, obviously this wouldn’t be ideal.

The Too Faced Born This Way Concealer is available in store and online from Debenhams here. It costs €24.

So as you can probably tell from the title, this weeks video is about the Sleek Colour Corrector Palette πŸ™‚

irish beauty blog beautynook

Yep, the one I am pointing to right there πŸ™‚

sleek colour corrector palette

I was dubious about this little palette, I won’t lie. I received it in a very generous goody bag from Sleek along with lots of other amazing goodies. Including theΒ  Solstice Highlighting Palette that I have a review of here. And, the Cleopatra’s Kiss Highlighting Palette which I have a post on here. They got use straight away, the Sleek Colour Corrector Palette got forgotten about.

But, I was shopping my stash which I do regularly and I stumbled across it in the back of a drawer. And sure the rest is history πŸ™‚

You can see my first impressions and a demo of some of the shades on my face in the video above. Or, you can click here to watch it directly.

I show you it in action on my visage, and show how well makeup applies over it. As well as giving you my honest opinion throughout the video.

After (With Makeup Applied On Top Too)

Overall, it’s safe to say I am a fan of the Sleek Colour Corrector Palette! Not all the shades are for one specific person. They are for use on specific complexion issues. That is something to be wary about. I personally like the green and the yellow shade for my skin type.

You can buy it from Boots here, Cloud10Beauty here and Dolledup.ie here. I always like to give some Irish links where I can too. It’s always good to support your own πŸ™‚

Would it rock your boat? I know it’s definitely not a makeup necessity but, would it have a place in your makeup bag? I’d love to know your thoughts πŸ™‚

I am months and months late to the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer game, but I got there in the end πŸ™‚

Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer

The Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer has reached the pinnacle of cult status in the beauty world. Hype hits me in strange ways, I either completely and utterly jump on board or I couldn’t be arsed. For this one, I didn’t jump on board at all.

irish beauty website

I went to a blogger event in House of Fraser a few weeks ago and they gave us a voucher to spend, and so spend I did! I finally caved and bought the concealer.

I have been using it consistently since I got it.

I picked up the shade Light Neutral.

urban decay naked skin concealer ireland

In hindsight, this shade is too dark for me personally (I’m NC20 in Mac), I can make it work, but I should have really gotten the first shade in the range. They just didn’t have it in stock and I didn’t want to wait.

So when I am using it, I use a translucent powder to set it, rather than a powder with any colour.

It has a light consistency, but the product itself is full coverage. You can’t dawdle too much around the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer, it will set, so be careful!

irish beauty site

The applicator is a soft round tipped doe foot applicator, which makes applying the product really easy and pretty much fuss free.

irish makeup and beauty blogger

Although I have oily skin, I do get dryness under my eyes. The Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer does have a drying formula, as it sets, but it doesn’t interfere with my skin texture. It doesn’t settle or it doesn’t crease, and it lasts really well throughout the day too. I haven’t had any issues with flakiness or extra dryness using it.

Here’s my under eye before application.

irish beauty blog

I don’t suffer with a huge amount of darkness, I do have pigmentation and some redness too though.

I apply the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer straight from the applicator. The packaging has good suction, so you don’t get too much excess product on the doefoot.

irish beauty blogger

The Light Neutral shade does have a peachy tone to it as you can see above.

Day to day I’ll usually just use my foundation brush to blend my under eye concealer in.

irish makeup and beauty blogger

So here is my under eye after one application.

top irish beauty blogger

You can see all any discolouration or pigment is gone. I usually add another small amount then on the inner part of my under eyes, just to be sure πŸ™‚

irish makeup and beauty blogirish beauty blog beautynook

It has pretty awesome coverage and it doesn’t cake up if you layer it, which is brilliant too, considering it sets so quickly.

As the Light Neutral shade is a little dark for my complexion I don’t get any brightness from the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer which I do like from my under eye concealer, but that’s due to the colour matching, not the product itself.

I have to admit I can kind of see what the fuss is about with this product. I know the Catrice Liquid Camouflage Concealer is deemed a ‘dupe’ for the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer, and I can get why. However, now having both I think the Naked Skin has a lot more pigment and is more blendable. Obviously I know the price difference is pretty huge though.

You can pick up the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer from House Of Fraser or from Debenhams in store or online here. It will set you back 22 euro.

Would you splurge? Have you already? Let me know πŸ™‚

I gave first impressions on both of these products that were new to me together over on Snapchat (I’m ‘Beautynook’ over there) a couple of weeks ago and I’ve used them that way everyday since.

Budget Beauty Concealer

They are the Flormar Perfect Coverage Concealer and the Catrice Liquid Camouflage High Coverage Concealer. Both of these concealers were under a fiver individually. I bought them both respectively to try but realised I really like using them together, so that’s why they are getting a joint review.

Now I know you’re thinking Gemma, why are using two products to conceal your lovely under circles? That’s a great question thanks for asking πŸ™‚ Let me show you.

When using the two of these for concealing I use the Flormar Perfect Coverage first.

flormar perfect cover

I picked up the shade 01 Fair Ivory and it works well for my Mac NC20 skintone.

undereye correction

I like the applicator on this product too. It has like a paddle shaped doe-foot applicator, that works really easily under the eyes.

My under eyes without any concealer on (I do have foundation on though) looks a bit like this.

irish makeup and beauty blogbeauty blog beautynook

You can see I definitely have some blue tones under there as well some pigmentation.

I use the Flormar Perfect Coverage first because it has a salmon tone to it.

irish beauty and makeup blog

And then I blend it in using whatever synthetic brush I have to hand.

beautynook makeup blog

It’s really lightweight and easy to blend.

irish blog

You can see the finished result here, it does it jobs well and conceals, without caking or looking too obvious.

Then, I pull out the Catrice Liquid Camouflage High Coverage Concealer.Catrice Liquid Camouflage

I got this in the shade 010 Porcelain, it is a pretty light shade, this is good for under the eyes as you want to highlight that area just a touch.

Catrice Ireland

I pop a layer (or two) of this over top. It has a lightweight formula that blends easily into the skin, but still manages to do it’s job of concealing and brightening really well.

Under eye circles

You can see this has more of a skin coloured tone to it. And I do the same, just blend it down in a triangle motion and then up across the tops of my cheeks with a synthetic brush.

beautynook irish beauty blog

By all means you can just use the Flormar Perfect Coverage on it’s own or even the Catrice Liquid Camouflage and be good to go. Separately they conceal well and do not crease under my eyes, as well as not settling into any fine lines or making any dry patches more apparent. I think alot of the cheaper brands struggle with concealer, so to have found two really good ones at the same time is a revelation!

I like using both these products together because, the Flormar works great for the pigmentation and darkness and then the Catrice really brightens the under eye area. Together they make me look more awake…and alive :p

irish makeup bloglifestyle blog

It’s really love at first swipe for me with these πŸ™‚ You can buy the Flormar Perfect Coverage from SimplyFoxy here or in any stockists around the country. The Catrice Liquid Camouflage is online here from Sam McCauley’s or again you can pick it up from stands nationwide including Penneys.
