I actually really enjoyed making this video. I haven’t done a makeup ‘tutorial’ type one in a while. They take a lot of work and to be honest not many people watch them. I always have to tell myself though, I make videos more because I enjoy creating them. If people watch them, great, if not, I’ve hopefully learned something from the experience. This is very much a mauve eye makeup look. Actually the lips are mauve too. So, it’s just a mauve look 🙂
I used the very talked about Huda Beauty Mauve Obsessions palette to create my mauve eye. I’ve utilised this palette a hell of a lot since I picked it up! I have a blogpost on it here and I do give you a quick review in the video, so I won’t go in to major details quality wise in this post.
I think it’s fair to say if you’re not a mauve, or pink toned shadow fan, stay well clear. For me, these shades ( I think), work well, so I’ve been enjoying experimenting with it. The last few times I’ve used it, I’ve shared pics on Instagram, and I’ve always gotten such lovely feedback. So, this video is for your lovely selves who ended up picking it up, or might have it in a drawer needing an outing 🙂
I went full on and finished the mauve eye look off with a mauve lip too. I have so many mauve lippies in slightly different shades and finishes, it’s definitely my go to colour. Everything else is pretty simple and if you want to know any of the other products I used, head over to my latest Get Ready With Me YouTube video here.
Let me know what you think and let me know if you picked up the Mauve Obsessions Palette, I know it’s kind of a marmite one 🙂
You might have saw me chatting about John very kindly going into the Fenty Beauty counter for me here?
For Christmas, he popped in and picked me up the Killawatt Free Style Highlight Duo in ‘LGHTNG DST FIRE CRYS’.
And the limited edition Starlit Hyper-Glitz Lipstick in ‘Sci-Fly‘.
All by himself may I add. Major brownie points. But like the beauty brat I am, I decided to pop into the Fenty Beauty counter myself and amend the gift so slightly. Don’t judge me, I was thinking with my blogger hat on. I wanted stuff I would enjoy, but also that you guys might want to hear about. The highlight duos are gorge, but there’s loads of reviews on them now. The lipstick was lovely too, but it was probably a bit too daring for me on a daily basis 🙂
May I say the girls on the Harvey Nichols Fenty Beauty counter here in Dublin are all really lovely. So helpful and so willing to chat. When I went in initially to exchange, they were awaiting a new delivery of stock. I wanted the coveted Gloss Bomb, and there was none in store. So, they gave me a voucher to come back in, or use it over the phone. Unfortunately, you cannot use gift vouchers on the Harvey Nicks website as of yet.
I scrolled through the HN website and realised they had just gotten the Bomb Baby Mini Lip And Face Set! I thought these were a Sephora exclusive. Turns out, nope! I annoyed the girls on the counter one more time, and told them to ring me when they got a shipment in. They did, and know you’re up to date 🙂
So what is the Fenty Beauty Bomb Baby Mini Lip And Face Set? A mouthful first and foremost I know.
It is also a set that contains a mini Gloss Bomb Universal (5.5g).
This is the only gloss within the Fenty Beauty range. It’s an apricot shade with a multi coloured shimmer running through it. It has a light sweet fragrance to it. It’s not sticky on the lips and feels really nice and comfortable. Apologises for the remnants of a cold sore on my lip 🙁
The set also contains a mini Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter in Hu$tla Baby (2.2g).
This is a peachy golden highlight with a multi coloured shimmer running through it. The formula is soft and buttery and it applies really intensely.
For me, this was killing two birds with one stone. It meant I could try the infamous gloss AND a highlighter from the range for the same price as a lipstick! I’m not generally a big lip gloss kinda gal. But, so many people love it, so I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. First impressions, they’re both lovely! You can buy the Fenty Beauty Bomb Baby set from Harvey Nichols in store or online here now for €20. I thought it would be helpful to note, you can order online for collection in store, or if you live within a ten mile radius of Dundrum, they can courier your order out too!

I have begun to do monthly favourites again on Beautynook a while ago now and am really enjoying it. It makes me extra conscious of products I continually pick up.
So, I thought I would start doing just general favourites too. Monthly ones can be for makeup, skincare and anything in between. These posts will be a little more theme driven. Hope that’s ok 🙂
So here’s five budget makeup products that have really been floating my beauty boat at the moment.
The Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer.
Excuse the appearance of mine, unfortunately the writing on the tube doesn’t withstand much…touching really :p
I used this years ago when it was all the rage and then just forgot to ever repurchase it, once I became a full on makeup fiend. Why, I don’t know, because it’s a bloomin’ good!
I have the shade ‘Fair 1’ which brightens up my pale complexion really well.
I do use this on it’s own and it works well. It has good coverage. But, most of the time I like to layer it over my Urban Decay Naked Concealer (I’ve a full review of this here). The Naked Concealer I have is too dark for me, so layering them on top of each other gives me hardcore under eye coverage and some brightness too. The consistency of the Lasting Perfection is really easy to blend so it’s works really well for layering. It’s a gem of a product. You can buy it from Boots here and it’ll set you back €5.79, not bad at all, right?
2. My second budget makeup favourite is what I use to apply the concealer with. It’s the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. Again, mine has seen better days. But it means I do actually use it…alot!
I’ve had a Beauty Blender in my stash since we were first able to get our hands on them here in Ireland and I do really love it. In in my humble opinion though, the Miracle Complexion Sponge is just as good! It melts both cream and powder products into the skin so you’re never left with cake face. And as an oily skinned gal who loves her powders for longevity, this is awesome for me.
I also love that it has a flat end and a more pointed end because it caters to all contours of the face.
I’ve also jumped onto the ‘baking’ bangwagon of late, so this is perfect for applying powder under the eyes too. In fact, other than blush and of course whatever I apply on my eyes, I can pretty much do my whole face with this. My poor brushes don’t know what to do with themselves. I’ve just been having a real moment with my sponges 🙂 The Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge is €7.99 here from Boots. They also come in a double pack here too for €14.99.
3. This is another product I picked up first years ago, loved and then forgot about. This is the Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser Primer.
This is very much the stereotypical silicone primer so it’s definitely a love hate thing. For me and my skin it work really well.
I have large pores, so I need a primer that will glide over them and make them less visible. It has a matte finish too. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a miracle worker or anything like that. But it does the job of holding onto my makeup for longer and gives a smoother base to work on top of. It’s something I’ve repurchased many times over the years and have never regretted it. It’s €11.49 again from Boots here.
4. Number 4 on my budget makeup list is the H&M ‘Sheer Tan’ Solar Flair Bronzing Powder.
When I was in Oslo at the start of the year, I picked up lots of products from the H&M beauty line. Some just didn’t cut the mustard for me at all. This bronzer however, has remained in my everyday makeup stash and I reach for it alot.
As the name would suggest it gives a sheer pop of colour.
It’s has kind of a satin finish to it, but no shimmer or shine. it is really finely milled, so blends really smoothly and naturally onto the skin. Their bronzers come in 6 shades so there’s one to suit all and they cost €7.99. We can actually shop online from H&M now so here’s a link if you fancy a nose too 🙂
5. My last favourite is a new one to me, and the first product I’ve ever used from the Freedom brand. This is their Duo Brow Powder’.
They look really similar to the Anastasia Brow Duos, right?
I bought this on a whim from the Superdrug website. I did a quick google for colour swatches and thank god for fellow bloggers out there because it worked out really well for me. This is in the shade ‘Soft Brown’.
I use the lighter shade to fill in my brows either on it’s own or over pencil, depending on the day. Then, the darker shade it great for adding dimension or filling in any gaps.
The powders aren’t super opaque in colour when you swatch them, which would have put me off buying one in store.
This is weirdly why I am enjoying them so much though. It actually means I don’t go over the top filling in my brows so they end up looking somewhat natural 🙂 You can buy them from Superdrug online here and they cost £3.
There you have it! Five Budget Makeup Favourites from me. These are products that I am using pretty much everyday right now and loving.
Let me know if you have any budget makeup favourites 🙂
So many of you told me you love watching Get Ready With Me style videos. I love watching them too (not my own though if I’m being honest ha) So here’s a Spring Makeup one, where I am basically applying a face of makeup that I would wear for a Spring day/early evening. Myself and himself were off for some Friday eats this day so I thought it would be a appropriate because I was actually doing my makeup to go somewhere, not just for the sake of filming 🙂
This is more of a talk through style video, which I still haven’t completely mastered, words still elude me 🙂 But I thought I would give it a whirl and sure don’t they say practice makes perfect, right?
I used a mixture of more affordable and more high end makeup which is a true representation of my normal makeup routine. I like to mix it up 🙂
So there you have it all the products I used in my Spring Makeup Get Ready With Me. I would love to know what you think and be sure to tell me your favourite types of beauty videos to watch.

Urban Decay have finally released their collaboration palette with Gwen Stefani. I couldn’t resist, I needed it in my life. The Urban Decay marketing team are geniuses 🙂
I picked my Urban Decay Gwen Stefani in Debenhams. It will set you back €46. They have it on the website with free shipping here, if you like what you see 🙂
The palette contains a mixture of neutral matte, satin and shimmery shades for the most part, with a couple of more intense colours for good measure. I think it’s a good mixture. As a Urban Decay fan I have alot of their palettes, so I’m used to them having some crazy colour combos within them. I think the Gwen palette gives good practical but still really pretty colour choices. You get 15 shades in total which is pretty decent for the price. They are soft and pigmented as you would expect from the brand. I love all the names she gave them too. If you’re a Gwen fan since her old school No Doubt days (like myself) you will get all the references she makes with them.
Now onto the good part, the eye shadows in action 🙂
The top row:
We have ‘Blonde’, the lightest shade in the palette.
‘Bathwater’ (one of my favourite No Doubt songs :).
‘Skimp’.
‘Steady’.
‘Punk’.
Then the second line of shadows:
‘Baby’.
‘Anaheim’.
‘Stark’.
‘Zone’.
‘Serious’.
And finally the third line of shadow and where most of the crazier colours lie:
‘Pop’.
‘Harajuku’.
‘Danger’.
‘1987’.
And ‘Blackout’, a matte black is always a welcome addition to a palette for me.
I struggled to part with the money for the Gwen palette so close to Christmas for myself I have to admit. The guilt has subsided now however and I’m so glad I did. She’s just so darn pretty. I love everything the colour choices, the packaging everything! And there’s also an added bonus with it. You get samples of the lipsticks Gwen will be releasing with Urban Decay too. Score!
The packaging of the lippies looks amazing in the picture may I add 🙂
So we have ‘Rocksteady’.
A pinky red lipstick with a cream formula.
It wouldn’t be Gwen without a matte red. So this is a mega-matte (according to Urban Decay) and it’s called ‘714’.
‘Ex-Girlfriend’ is a sheer neutral brown shade.
Then, finally we have ‘Firebird’ an awesome bright purple hot pink shade with a cream finish.
I think it’s safe to say the Gwen palette for Urban Decay is a hit with me 🙂
Have you picked it up? Or is it on your Christmas wish list?
