Mac Whirl Lipstick and Lip LinerI’ve had Mac Whirl lipstick for a while now. And I’ve had the liner forever, literally. And I never thought to do a blogpost on them. Silly me! Well I am rectifying this now for the archives and just in case any of you want to see them in action πŸ™‚

Mac Whirl Lipstick and lipliner

There was a lot of hype around Mac Whirl lipstick launching after the success of the liner. I get so much use out of the lip liner. It’s great on it’s own, under similar shade lippies, not so similar shades and even gloss. It just works. It’s that typical 90’s flat brown shade.irish beauty blogger

I feel like it has a hint of blue in it because like any more blue toned red, it definitely makes your teeth look more white and bright, score!Mac Cosmetics Ireland

The Mac Whirl lipstick itself is a matte formula. Mac Cosmetics do a great creamy matte formula, they apply smoothly and last well. But generally with any matte lippie, your lips need to be in tip top condition before application and it can cause dryness as you wear it throughout the day and night.irish beauty blogbeauty blog ireland

It’s weird because I don’t find the lip liner shade intimidating, but the lipstick is of course more opaque, so I do find it’s a bit of a statement to wear. Of course, this thought process is in the eye of the beholder, and the person wearing the lipstick.

Overall I am a fan of both Mac Whirl lipstick and the lip liner, but I do find myself reaching for the lip liner more day to day. Now Mac , if you’re reading this, if you could make a Soar lipstick too, that would be great. I love a brown lip but I am also partial to a mauve lip too πŸ™‚

There have been so many new makeup releases over the last few weeks. It is so hard to keep up, even for me πŸ™‚ The Inglot What A Spice Collection was one that really caught my eye though.

I’m lucky enough to live not too far away from their South Anne Street Branch, so I toddled in this past Sunday to have a look up close. The Inglot What A Spice Collection consists of ten lipsticks:

Five complimenting lip liners:

The main event for me in the collection though is the Freedom eyeshadows:

Inglot what a spice

There are ten eyeshadow shades in total. All matte. Inglot know how to make an eyeshadow, I think we can all agree on that. I am a big fan of their formula. The shades in the What A Spice Collection are literally Autumn in eyeshadow form πŸ™‚

I ended up picking up four shadows from the collection.

Well I would have picked up more but that’s all my budget would allow me, and my conscience, I’ve been a bit spendy lately πŸ™‚

I tried to go for the shades that looked a bit different to what I have already.

The first one is 305 which to me, is a warm chocolate brown shade.

My second choice was 304. This is a more cooler toned dark brown shade.

Number three is 299. This is a matte red toned brown.

Then, my last purchase was number 303. This is a warm toned mid brown with a pink base. I have nothing like this shade in my collection so I’m particularly excited to play around with this colour πŸ™‚

Here’s all four of them side by side so you can see the differences.

You can purchase the entire Inglot What A Spice Collection in store or online from their website here now. The lipsticks are €15 as are the lipliners. The eyeshadows are €6 each. I know there is nail polishs and lip tints as part of the collection elsewhere, but we don’t seem to have them here in Ireland, so I didn’t include them.

Another delve into some purse friendly beauty faves. This time I took some inspiration in the changing of the seasons. Here are five Budget Autumn Lipstick choices.

budget autumn lipstick

Autumn makeup for me is summed up by dark vampy lips. Of course, it’s appropriate to wear them all year round, there’s no rules in makeup. But, I always tend to pull out the deeper shades more at this time of the year.

I chose five budget friendly Autumn lipsticks from my collection. All from different brands in hopes of giving you some inspiration for the colder months πŸ™‚

First up we have the Lasting Finish Kate Moss for Rimmel Lipstick in the shade ‘Retro Red’. This is from the 15th anniversary collection.

This has a creamy finish. I thought it would be a good choice if you didn’t want to go full on plum vamp. It’s still dark but as the name would suggest in a more retro red way πŸ™‚ You can get these from Boots instore or online here for €10.99. You can get them in pharmacies and in Penneys too and they’re usually cheaper!

Number 2 on the Budget Autumn Lipstick list is the Sleek VIP Lipstick in ‘Attitude’.

I love these lippies. They are creamy and pigmented and really lovely to apply. This shade for me, is Autumn personified. The formula is quite forgiving on the lips too if they are dryΒ  or cracked. These are available in store or online here from Boots for €7.49. You can find them on Cloud10beauty and Dolledup.ie aswell.

My third pick is one of the Matt Matt Matt lipsticks from Essences Autumn/Winter Collection for this year. You can see the whole collection here. This is in the shade 07 ‘Purple Power.

This is a more purple take on the vampy lip trend. As you would guess from the name this has a matte finish. But it’s not so matte that it will dry out your lips completely. These are a steal too at only €2.90 a pop.

My fourth Budget Autumn Lipstick choice is the Makeup Revolution Rose Gold Lipstick in ‘Private Members Club’.

This is the glossiest choice of the five. It’s plum but with more a blackened undertone, so definitely not for the faint hearted πŸ™‚ You can buy these from Superdrug online or directly from Makeup Revolution here. They cost €4.20 a piece.

My final choice is from Wet n Wild. The Wet n Wild Megalast Matte lipsticks are some of my very favourites. I have a bunch of them swatched here in a previous post. They are pigmented and although matte, still creamy and easy to apply. The shade I have here is ‘Ravin Raisin’.

This is like a 90’s representation of a plum lipstick. It has a mauve undertone and I love it πŸ™‚ You can get the Megalast lipsticks in Penneys and they are a ridiculously reasonable €2.99.

I swatched all of my Budget Autumn Lipstick choices side by side too, just so you could see the differences close up.

I am not a blush monogamist by any stretch of the imagination. I flutter from one to the other depending on my mood and of course what colour or finish I want on that day. Lately I’ve noticed my hand has been reaching for the same 5 blushes in my makeup drawer though. 5 is still probably alot in a normal case scenario I know, but for a makeup fiend this is a pretty respectable number πŸ™‚ So I thought I would share them with you today as they are actually quite varied (as blushers go anyway).

First up is one of the first Mac products I ever had in my collection. Don’t worry I’ve gone throught a few of them since then, but you can still see this is well loved.

Mac Pink Swoon

This is Mac’s Sheertone blush in ‘Pink Swoon’. At one point this was the only blush I had in my possession.

irish beauty blogPink Swoon Swatch

I like the Sheertone blushes because you can build them up to your own preference. I think Pink Swoon is the perfect matte pink cheek tone. It suits my skin tone well and I can wear it day or night. Pink Swoon is available for €24 from Brown Thomas here.

My second choice is another Mac Sheertone blush, but in the shimmer formula.

Mac Springsheen blush

This is ‘Springsheen’ which I think is a bit of a Mac cult classic. You can buy this from Brown Thomas for €24 here.

irish makeup and beauty blogSpringsheen swatch

It’s light peachy shade with a gold sparkle running through it. Probably more suited to the warmer months, but I love Springhsheen if you gone to town on your eye makeup or your lippie and just want a subtle pop of colour to your cheeks. It’s a good staple to have in your collection.

The third choice I have been grabbing for of late is a blush I actually spoke about in My Everyday Makeup Routine here.

catrice blush kiss me ken

This is the Catrice Illuminating Blush in 030 ‘Kiss Me Ken’.

beauty blogkiss me ken swatch

This is a more mauvey toned blush I think, with just a little sparkle running through it.

I tend to grab for this when I’m going for a mauve toned lip, which I have been loving at the minute. I think the similar tone of colour on the cheeks and lips go well together.3

Number 4 is the priciest of the bunch. It’s Β£32 from Spacenk here.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Diffused Heat

This is the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in ‘Diffused Heat’.

irish beauty blog beautynookDiffused Heat Swatch

It looks pretty scary in the pan, right? But as you can see when it swatched on my arm, it’s a lovely peachy pink shade. You have a swirl of intense colour, but then you are kind of diluting it by mixing it with the lighting powder running through it. This is such a pretty shade and the formulation of these blushes are really lovely and so blendable too. I use this blush alot when I’m going for more of a fresh face approach to my makeup, if that makes sense? :p

I left this blush until last, because it’s really the one I reach for the most.

Max Factor Seductive Pink

This is the Max Factor Creme Puff Blush in 15 ‘Seductive Pink’.

beauty blog beautynookSeductive Pink Swatch

The beauty community went nuts when Max Factor first released these blushes, as they are such a lovely and affordable alternative to the Hourglass offerings that I talked about a minute ago. I think Seductive Pink is a blush everyone should have in their collection if I’m being honest. It’s just a great all rounder, and ticks all the boxes for me. It’s pink, but has a rosey tone to it aswell, it’s not completely matte, but it doesn’t interfere with your makeup at all, it will work on so many skin tones, it works with all types of makeup looks and the formula of Creme Puff blushes is so lovely as well. They’re soft, pigmented and easy to blend. Can you tell I love it? πŸ™‚ You can pick it up from Boots here
