PS KPOP CollectionThis is the new PS KPOP Collection from Penneys. It is completely Korean inspired, in case the name didn’t give that away πŸ™‚

PS KPOP Collection

Penneys say ‘The new KPOP Collection is Korean inspired. offering everything you need for a fresh faced, dewy look with the cutest accessories to add some fun to your application.’

I definitely don’t think the PS KPOP Collection will be for everyone, especially aesthetically. The packaging is very cutesy and girly everything as we would assume it be from the theme. However, keep reading, because even if you don’t like the look of some of the products, you may like how they perform.

I don’t have everything from the collection. There’s mirrors, nails, tweezers and an abundance of makeup products. I do have a good cross selection of the makeup goodies though, so I though it was worth showing in blogpost form.

I’ll try get through this quick sharp, as there is a fair few products! πŸ™‚

We have two palettes that are both cherry flavoured and have heart shaped pans.

The Sugar Rush Eyeshadow Palette that retails for €6.

I stupidly took the price tag off them, because they were sealed shut, and that took off the shade names. So I don’t know what these are called, but sure I can still swatch them for you πŸ™‚

This one is a pastel pink shade which I am actually super intrigued to use. I think it will work really nicely in the waterline. There are other shades available of though.

Then finally,Β  we have the Pillow Talk Matte Lip Cushions.

Out of everything, I think, other than the palettes. These were the thing I was most excited to swatch. However, as you can probably see the eyeshadow palette isn’t too strong in pigment, other shades are better than others.irish beauty blog

I have three shades. They have a twist close lid and a sponge applicator. And, although the Pillow Talk Lip Cushions are pigmented, the product was hard to get out and I actually broke off two of the applicators, hence the messy swatches.irish beauty vlogger

The pink is called Cuddle. The brown is Honey Bun. The orange is Jelly Bean.

The PS KPOP Collection is available in Penneys now. You can see the last collection I spoke about here if you’re interested in checking any of their other products out. I think the Bronze Collection has a bit more to offer. Anything tickle your fancy?

I did it! I couldn’t resist ordering a peeling blackhead mask!

asian skincare

I’ve seen so much talk about these online over the last while. Every time I scroll through Facebook or Instagram, someone is peeling one off their faces. Now I am very aware that they may not be good for your skin, or they may damage it. But, I thought I would take one for the team and give it a bash. I’m nice like that πŸ™‚ And let’s be honest, I am a nosey sod and really just wanted to see if it actually did anything by trying it myself.

The peeling blackhead mask I ended up getting was just the cheapest one that popped up when I typed it into eBay. I’ll leave you the link here, so you can see what the seller says about it. Do not take this as enabling, I do not want to be responsible for anything bad happening your skin!!

Obviously, I talk about it more in the video above (or you can click directly to YouTube here to watch), so I won’t bore you with details. But actually, there isn’t many. It doesn’t come with instructions or anything so I pretty much just winged the process.

irish beauty blog

The video mostly consists of peeling the blackhead mask off, so if you’re squimish, beware!

I managed to get it off in one piece. This is the mask after I pulled it off my skin:

John reckons it looks like something out of 50 Shades of Grey, I reckon it just looks gross πŸ™‚

On a side note after taking the mask off a few hours ago, my skin feels pretty good. I didn’t have any irritation from it personally. I am not really one to have allergic reactions very often. That is definitely something to keep in mind.

I quite enjoyed making this video, so be sure to let me know what you think? And tell me, would you try it?

Thank you, as always.

It’s monthly favourites time again. I’m back to ramble all about my September Favourites for 2016 this time.

irish beauty blogger

Can you believe it’s October? The year is honestly slipping away at a rapid speed, I can’t keep up at all! My September favourites consist of makeup, skincare, fragrance and even a stab into the fashion world.

September Favourites

There’s the original Urban Decay Naked Palette. You can of course get this from Debenhams here.

The makeup mixing palette, I picked up in store from Penneys for €4. A little bloody bargain.

The Sleek Cleopatra’s Kiss Palette. I have a full review and demo of this here. It’s worth a look, I promise πŸ™‚

The Clarins Instant Light Comfort Lip Oil. A definite splurge at €21, but a really nice treat for the lips. You can get it from Debenhams here.

Stella McCartney Pop Eau De Parfum. Summer in a bottle for me πŸ™‚ You can buy this from Boots or any decent perfume shop. Here’s a link to it on the Debenhams website.

Asian sheet masks are readily available from different sellers on eBay or Amazon. A Irish distribution called Natural Balance Global sent me the SNP ones that I have particularly enjoying. Here’s a link to their website if you fancy checking them out. They do come in boxes of ten though, I think that’s worth noting, in case you were just looking to try them out.

Then, the last of my September Favourites includes my cute little Zara bag. It’s €29.95 and I ordered it from the website here. May I add, Zara are killing it in the bag game. I just went on there to get the link for my bag and saw at least five other bags I really really want!

And there you have my September favourites for 2016!

I am kinda sad to be leaving the Summer behind, not gonna lie πŸ™‚

Yep, every time I find a new mascara that I like, it becomes my favourite, I know, I know. But honestly, the Fairydrops Scandal Queen Mascara is my new favourite πŸ™‚

Fairydrops Scandal Queen Mascara

I have seen this spoken about so much online, but never really thought much about getting my mitts on it with it being an elusive Asian brand. A couple of weeks back, I did a post here on my favourite places to beauty shop online. I was going through the index on Cult Beauty and low and behold I see it for sale.

Fairydrops Scandal Queen Mascara

The Fairydrops Scandal Queen mascara went into my basket, no hesitation whatsoever. I was in need of a new mascara (says the beauty blogger), so that was justification enough for me πŸ™‚ It is one of the best selling mascaras in Japan and was actually created by a Japanese ‘television personality’.

First off the packaging is super pretty. Anything metallic rose gold and I’m pretty much sold anyways.

Fairydrops Scandal Queen Mascara

This is the waterproof version, but the Fairydrops Scandal Queen comes in a non waterproof version too here.

The Cult Beauty synopsis of it is: ‘How much do we *heart* Fairydrops Scandal Queen Waterproof Mascara? Let us list the ways… Its wibbly-looking wand is β€˜ooooh’ inducing, and guarantees that not a single lash escapes its curling, coating and conditioning clutches. The unique shape lifts and separates whilst fattening and lengthening each eyelash thanks to little (non-irritating) fibres. The smudge-, budge- and water-resistant formula is enriched with five different treatment essences – squalene, jojoba seed oil, panthenol, hydrolysed collagen and moisturising hyaluronic acid – to counteract brittleness and leave lashes looking lustrous. Aaaaaand innovative film-forming polymers have a long-lasting β€˜perming’ effect, to β€˜open up’ eyes and create an enviable set of full on, fluttering fringes (without the faff of falsies). Oh, and the rose gold tube is utterly covetable. Need we say more?’

That’s alot of waffle I know, but it gives a more specific explanation of the mascara so I wanted to add it in πŸ™‚

It has a soft bristled wand that has three spheres, not the best explanation but sure we’ll go with it. It’s more of a you have to see it spooley.

cult beauty fairydrops mascara

The unusual shape does take a bit of getting used to, but once you do you can use the spheres (we’re calling them spheres for the purpose of this blogpost, k?) to your advantage.

The one on the tip of the spooley is great for getting in at the small inner lashes and for flaring out the outer lashes too.

beauty blog ireland

The formula, in my humble opinion is pretty bloody awesome. It layers really well without completely clumping up, holds a curl, adds fibrous length and doesn’t budge! It doesn’t crumble or make your lashes feel hard either!

So, here is the Fairydrops Scandal Queen mascara in action on my slightly curled eyelashes:

Before.

Applied to top lashes on one eye.

It’s brilliant for the bottom lashes too and because the wand is really light, it’s not too difficult to coat all of the baby hairs that live down there πŸ™‚

irish beauty blog

It’s clear to see I am a fan I know. Sorry for all of the gushing, but I love it ha!

The Fairydrops Scandal Queen Mascara in waterproof is available from Cult Beauty here and costs Β£18.50.

This is a follow on from my last post all about the L’Oreal Nude Magique Cushion Foundation. I went into more detail there about cushion foundations and how they work and gave a review and demo on it, so if you want to know about that just click on the link here, and you can have a read. This post is going to be about L’Oreal’s second cushion offering though, the L’Oreal Glam Bronze Cushion De Soleil.

L'Oreal Glam Bronze Cushion De SoleilThis is pretty much (as I am sure you guessed) a liquid bronzer in cushion form.

It comes packed in the same way as the foundation.

top beauty blog irelandYou get a applicator sponge on the top layer, and then there’s an airtight cover over the actual product to help keep out bacteria and so it won’t dry out.

L'Oreal Glam Bronze Cushion De Soleil_2550Also like the foundation, the L’Oreal Glam Bronze Cushion De Soleil is a water based product and deemed a ‘fresh glow bronzer’ by L’Oreal.

I am been really enjoying using this. Again, l am a rebel and don’t really use the sponge applicator that comes with to apply. The sponge works fine and is great for on the go, it also has rubber backing so the product doesn’t soak right through.

The bronzer is matte and warm in colour. It only comes in one shade as of yet, which is a bit of a bummer. Hopefully L’Oreal will bring out some more shades to suit darker skin tones.

top beauty blogger irelandL'Oreal Cream Bronzer swatchThe formula is really smooth and it blends really lovely into the skin. It also layers up really nicely if you are looking for a more sun kissed look.

Here it is applied to my skin over the L’Oreal Nude Magique Cushion Foundation.

I apply it with my foundation brush (or sponge) onto the high points of my face.

beauty blog ireland

So, my ginormous forehead.

top irish beauty blogAcross my nose.

top irish beauty bloggerAnd then, I apply a little under my jawline too to create a little bit of shadow. I like to think it helps a bit with the roundness of my face….I don’t know if it really does though…but sure look πŸ™‚

irish beauty bloggerI usually apply two layers of the L’Oreal Glam Bronze Cushion De Soleil to my skin. This warms up my complexion a little, but still leaves it looking somewhat natural. It gives a warmth but doesn’t look orange in my opinion at all and it dries down to a satin finish that’s very similar to the foundation. They work really well together.

beauty blogIt doesn’t contain SPF like the foundation though, I think that’s worth mentioning! I find myself using the cushion bronzer on a daily basis of late and skipping the powder bronzer. I am just really enjoying the natural finish it gives and how easy it is to apply. You can’t really go overboard with it unless you really keep layering product up.

Do I think it will change your makeup life? No, not at all. It’s a lovely product and a bit novel in the fact that it’s in a cushion formula, but I don’t think you necessarily have to go out and pay €22 for it. That of course, like everything is just my opinion πŸ™‚

You can pick up the L’Oreal Glam Bronze Cushion De Soleil in store from Boots or from their website here.

Let me know what you think.

Cushion foundation and products have been getting alot of press of late. They are definitely not a new phenomenon, originating in Korea, but now they are making their way slowly to our shores. In Asia, cushion foundations would be deemed a fusion of makeup and skincare in one, so kind of like a bb or cc cream but in compact form. This obviously makes them easier for travel too. The cushion is supposed to make the formula of the foundation lighter and offers you a lighter application of the product inside. So there’s a quick synopsis on cushion foundation (in case you ever wondered), now let’s get into my thoughts on the new L’Oreal Nude Magique Cushion Foundation πŸ™‚

L'Oreal Nude Magique Cushion FoundationWithin the L’Oreal Nude Magique Cushion Foundation compact, you get an applicator sponge in the top layer.

L'Oreal Cushion FoundationYou then have an air tight lid to help prevent bacteria getting into the actual cushion and the foundation within it and obviously to prevent the liquid spilling out.

L'Oreal Nude Magique Cushion FoundationThe L’Oreal Nude Magique Cushion Foundation is made in the same vein as the original Korean cushion foundations (and it’s also made in Korea too), so it has a light weight, water infused formula which contains SPF 29. It has a sheer coverage, but you can build it up to a more medium coverage if you want. That’s how I personally wear it.

top beauty blog irelandIt is said you get the best application from a cushion foundation using the sponge that comes with it. I have tested it with it and it does work, but I just find it a longer process and a bit of a pain. So, like a rebel, I use my foundation brush to apply it. Using the brush allows me to buff the foundation into the skin more too and fill in any deeper pores on my face (which I have plenty of).

I have shade number 1 which is porcelain and this is a good match for my Mac NC20 skin. If your skin is lighter than mine though, there’s really not an option for you which is a bit annoying.

beauty blog irelandbauty blogger irelandThere is 7 shades in total. I would recommend swatching in store before making a choice though.

Here’s the L’Oreal Nude Magique Cushion Foundation in action.

I just dab my brush super lightly onto the sponge.

irish beauty bloggerAnd then apply it just as I would my normal foundation.

irish beauty blog

Before Application

top irish beauty blogThe finish to me, is more satin than dewy and the formula feels really lightweight and comfortable on the skin. It knocks back redness and evens out the skin tone but in a natural way.

top irish beauty bloggertop irish beauty websiteIt obviously doesn’t last as well on me throughout the day like my ride or die L’Oreal Infallible Matte Foundation (there’s a full review of that here if you’re curious), but considering it’s a lightweight, satin finish, water based foundation with SPF 29, it lasts pretty well on my oily skin with primer and powder on top. I start to get some shine on my t zone after maybe the third hour, but if doesn’t oxidise or look unsightly, so I would probably wait until the fourth or fifth hour of wear before powdering.

Overall, I personally really like the L’Oreal Nude Magique Cushion Foundation. I am finding it a great addition to my Summer makeup and getting alot of use out of it. At €21.99 it is very much at the higher price end for ‘drugstore’ foundation, so it really just depends on whether you buy into the whole cushion foundation thing and if would work for your skin needs, so I hope I’ve given you a bit of insight into it anyway πŸ™‚

You can buy the L’Oreal Nude Magique Cushion Foundation from Boots instore or online here.

I would love to know your thoughts on it and if you’ve tried any other cushion foundations. Keep me in the loop! πŸ™‚

I have a separate post coming on the Glam Bronze Cushion De Soleil. I just thought this post would be way too long talking about both of them, so keep an eye out for that!
