I feel like such a broken record when it comes to the Infallible Foundations. I generally love most of them. Well, besides the Total Cover and the stick one. But still overall, I am such a fan, and the L’Oréal Infallible Fresh Wear Foundation is no exception!

L'Oréal Infallible Fresh Wear Foundation

I bought their new More Than Concealer originally. (Review here), and didn’t pick this up, just because I have a bucket of foundations at the minute. However, I got sent it within a PR pack from L’Oréal. After seeing so many positive reviews online about it then, my makeup heart was happy to try it 🙂L'Oréal Infallible Fresh Wear Foundation

So what do they say about the L’Oréal Infallible Fresh Wear Foundation?

It’s ‘available in 26 shades. Weightless feel, fresh wear liquid foundation. Transfer proof, life proof, party proof and waterproof. Long wear formula, lasts up to 24 hours. No compromise, full coverage base. Ultra stretchable gel formula.’

A very long winded explanation if you ask me. And in my very humble opinion, not completely true.

I have the shade 15 Porcelain, which is a really decent match for me, and it does come in 26 shades.

The formula for me, is not too fluid and not too thick. In the words of goldilocks, it’s just right 🙂

You can see it properly in action in the super short, Instagram friendly video at the top of this post and here. On me, it has medium coverage. You can see in the video, that I go in with two light-ish layers of foundation and I feel I need that on my red porous skin, to make things a bit smoother and less blotchy.

Here is my skin before application with decent lighting so it looks better than it really does:

I applied one layer:

And then I go in with another one for good measure:

This is it without powder or concealer on top. It gives a nice glow to the skin without looking too shiny. I have oilier skin, so this is definitely a rarity for me. It sets well and gives a decent medium coverage. On me, it’s not full coverage. It doesn’t feel heavy on my skin at all either, so I agree with them there. I’ve never worn it for 24 hours so I can’t attest to that, but I will say it lasts really really well. And if you do need to touch up with powder, it lends itself to that too. It doesn’t move around or become blotchy in my experience of wearing it.

Overall, I am such a fan of the L’Oréal Infallible Fresh Wear Foundation. I’ll reach for it day to day and for a night out too. You can find it in Boots now and online. I found it for the best price here.  Have you tried it?

**************PR SAMPLE**************

It’s that time of the week. Time for a new video from yours truly 🙂 This one is about my top five ride or die makeup products. As you probably would have guessed from the title 🙂

ride or die makeup products

Look I even made a picture with writing on it! That’s when you know I mean business 🙂 For a minute in this video, I nearly thought I came up with this concept. What a twat I am. It took my brain a minute to catch up but then I remembered it was the lovely Jaclyn Hill who created the ride or die makeup tag, duh!

And me looking all smug and the likes.

Anyways onto the products!

ride or die makeup tag

  1. The Mac Cosmetics Full Coverage Foundation in NC20. I usually get mine from Brown Thomas in store. After looking on the Brown Thomas website I can’t seem to find it! Hopefully they’ve just changed the name and the packaging to Prolongwear, which is on the website here. I hope and pray it’s not discontinued because I’m running low 🙁
  2. Number two is the L’Oreal Infallible 24 Hr Matte Foundation. I won’t go into too much detail about this because I have a full blogpost on it here.
  3. My third choices were two I know, I’m a cheater and a half! The Fairydrops Scandal Queen Waterproof Mascara. I have a full review here. And, the Catrice Glam & Doll Waterproof mascara, Also, full blogpost here. I just realised they changed the name of this since I got my first tube!
  4. My fourth choice the Bourjois Rouge Velvet Edition in the shade ‘Ping Pong’. You can pick these up from Boots instore and online here, or from Cloud10beauty here.
  5. Then finally my last ride or die makeup product was goat hair blending brushes. The ones I mention are the Debs from Nima, you can buy it here, the Blank Canvas E26 available here and the old school Mac 217 which you can pick up here.

I cannot believe I’ve never talked about the Revlon Colorstay Foundation here on Beautynook. It’s one of the most popular foundations on the market and it was probably one of the first to come out in different formulas to cater for more drier and more oily skin types.

Revlon Ireland

I have oily skin so I of course use the Revlon Colorstay foundation in the combination/oily skin formula. Both formulas have an spf of 15. I have here, what I believe is the lightest shade they do ‘110 Ivory’.

Revlon Colorstay Foundation

This is a tad to light for me in the summer months, but in the winter it matches pretty well. I have tan on in the swatches here which looks a bit ridiculous, but I think it also shows the coverage that the Revlon Colorstay Foundation actually has too.

It has a pretty thick consistency and can be a bit harder to blend into the skin than some other foundations out there. Revlon finally revamped the bottle though and gave us a pump which is awesome. It’s been a long time coming.

Revlon Colorstay Foundation

When it was first released you just had to dump the product on something and hope for the best.

For me, the Revlon Colorstay foundation has pretty much full coverage.

Here’s my skin before application:

And here it is after:

beauty blogger irelandbeauty blog ireland

I just used a kabuki brush to blend it into the skin.

You can definitely feel this foundation on your skin, it sits on top of it and is visible. The longevity is good and if you have any breakouts or imperfections it will cover them well so you won’t need as much concealer.

Two even three years ago if someone asked me for a more affordable oily skin foundation recommendation, the Revlon Colourstay would have been it no questions asked. However, I think brands have come along way with foundation formulas and we have more options out there now. As I get older, although I still get breakouts so want decent coverage and of course I want good staying power, I also want my skin to be able to breath somewhat and I don’t think Colorstay really allows that. I prefer to apply it with a damp sponge myself, it makes it look less cakey and noticeable on my skin. I end up usually mixing it with other foundations if I want to lighten them or bulk up the coverage. I rarely reach for it to use on it’s own.

So there you go, there’s my two cents on the cult classic that is the Revlon Colorstay Foundation. Is it still your holy grail?

You can buy online here or in store from Boots and it will set you back €18.99.

I’m like a broken record, I know, but I have pretty oily skin and as a result of this makeup, as much as I love it, doesn’t particularly love me. It sinks into my skin, oxidizes and just doesn’t hang around too long. So, as a result, over the years, I’ve tried and tested lots of different ways to make it last longer on my visage. I’ve done a post about this in the past, but I’ve updated and added some different steps, so I thought I would put together all of my Long Lasting Makeup Tips in video form and demo them on my mug 🙂

After Makeup

There is a lot of long lasting makeup steps in the video, I don’t expect anyone to do them all, unless of course you’re really oily like me. But if you struggle with your makeup slipping and sliding, or have a special occasion, some of them might help you a little. You can click on the video up above or go to my YouTube channel here to watch.

Long Lasting Makeup TipsJust in case something takes your fancy, I’ll link any reviews I have done in the past of the products I talk about in the video.

I really really hope you find something helpful within my waffling. These are by no means my personal long lasting makeup tips. I’ve just picked them up along the way on my makeup journey and tried and tested them on my skin.

As always, thanks for watching and if you have any other long lasting makeup tips to add to the pile, please do comment. I would love to try more 🙂

Vichy Normaderm Beautifying Anti-Blemish Care…what a mouthful! 🙂
If you have been following Beautynook for any length of time, you will know I have oily, spot prone skin. The Vichy Normaderm range on paper, is literally made for my skin type. Vichy says it’s ‘An expert collection of products to combat the 6 signs of imperfection-prone adult skin: Blemishes, Pores, Shine, Oily Skin, Marks & Uneven Complexion. Suitable for even sensitive skin.’ My skin in a nut shell 🙂

Vichy Normaderm review

I’ve been using this moisturiser for a couple of months now, so I think I am in a good enough place with it to give you an opinion. Off the bat, I love the packaging. It has a pump applicator, you can control the amount of product that comes out of it by how hard you press on the top of the pump.

irish beauty bloggerbeauty blog ireland

The moisturiser itself has a really fresh  (but strong scent) that I personally like. The texture of it to me, is like a gel/cream hybrid. It has a thin consistency and soaks into the skin really quickly. If you have oily or combination skin, this is brilliant for a day cream.

irish makeup and beauty blog

Vichy says it contains something called Airlicium, this is supposed to help the moisturiser disperse and absorb sebum. It also contains 1.5% salicylic acid. Alcohol is high up on the ingredients list too, so if you are really senstive, I would be careful.

I can honestly say the Vichy Normaderm Beautifying Anti-Blemish Care does not interfere with my makeup longevity. I’ve used so many moisturisers in the past that are just far too emollient and my skin is shiny within the hour. It still manages to moisturise my skin though. My skin, although oily can tend to be dehydrated in places and I’ve found since using the Vichy Normaderm moisturiser this has significantly decreased. My skin feels more replenished.

Using this along with my holy grail toner the La Roche Posay Serozinc (I have a full review of this here), I have also noticed my skin texture (I tend to get alot of whiteheads on my cheeks) has improved alot too. I can’t say it helps particularly with pore appearance like it claims though. It has helped lessen the redness of my hormonal breakouts somewhat, I don’t think a topical cream, can stop them altogether.

I use a pump of the Vichy Normaderm Beautifying Anti-Blemish Care after cleansing and toning during the day and leave it to sink in for only about 5-10 minutes, it soaks in really fast. Then, just do my makeup as normal. I use it in my night time routine too, and then follow up with a heavier cream, but that’s completely just me, that isn’t necessary at all.

When it comes to skincare, I can only tell you what works for me, I am by no means an expert 🙂

Overall, the Vichy Normaderm Beautifying Anti-Blemish Care seems to work really well for me though. The bottle I have now is a press sample, but when it runs out, I will definitely repurchase. The Vichy Normaderm range contains toners, cleansers, spot treatments the works and like with most Vichy products, are not too horrendously priced.

You can buy Vichy Normaderm in chemists nationwide and in Boots in store and online here. It will set you back between €19-20 euro, depending on where you purchase it.

Have you tried anything from the range? Be sure to let me know, I’d love some recommendations.

Benefit They're Real Full Color

So last night, I was very lucky to attend the launch of Benefit Cosmetics new release into the makeup world…They’re Real…In Full Colour. Benefit are releasing their best selling mascara and the push up liner that coincides with They’re Real in more colours!

There is already the duo you love in black, but in July things are going to get a bit more colourful! Us bloggers were lucky enough to bring the whole collection home with us. Thanks so much Benefit for their generosity. I thought I would photograph straight away them all to give you a sneak peak 🙂

David LaChapelle did the visuals for the campaign. There is no post production on the images which is pretty amazing, in his words, “This isn’t illustration or digital. It’s live,it’s real”.

First up we have the They’re Real Mascaras.

They're Real MascaraThere is three in the collection now. They retail for €26.

The black one where this all originated from of course.

Benefit They're Real Push Liners Swatched

They are all very wearable colours as you can see. I especially love the green and the purple ones. They are all matte and very pigmented. I have never used any of these before so I am excited to try them out. I am in love with the Benefit Roller Lash which I reviewed here not too long ago, so if these are anything like that I will be happy.

Benefit were also kind enough to add in something extra to our goodie bags.

Benefit the Porefessional License to blot

porefessional license to blotYou know if you read Beauty Nook regularly I am an oily skinned so and so this The Porefessional License To Blot excites me greatly. I love the primer already so I am sure I probably will! It is a blotting stick! You can use it under or over your makeup to help blot any excess oil…this could be a dream product for me :).

So there you have it. The new They’re Real…In Full Colour line-up in all its colourful glory. Let me know if anything tickles your fancy.
