The well known Maybelline Dream Satin Foundations have been reformulated this year. I picked up both the Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid and the Velvet to give a whirl.
The texture of the Velvet just doesn’t float my boat which is kind of ironic because this one is made more for my skin type as it has more of a matte finish. I feel it sits on the skin and leaves behind a tacky residue which I am not a fan of.
The Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid however, does float my boat 🙂
As the name would suggest, this is the liquid version.
It has a pretty thin consistency , but it doesn’t run if you put it on the back of your hand or a brush…if that makes sense?. I’ve used kabuki brushes, duo fibre brushes and sponges to apply it and for me it applies well with all of them. It doesn’t seem to discriminate 🙂
It feels light on the skin but it has a medium build-able coverage.
Here’s my skin before application.
And then here it is with maybe one and half pumps of the Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid foundation applied with a kabuki brush.
Here it is with the the rest of my makeup on and powdered into place.
The L’Oreal Dream Satin Liquid Foundation smells quite nice too, which is always a plus 🙂 I think calling it satin liquid is a good description for the finish it gives on the skin when blended in. It’s not matte, but yet it’s not shiny or dewy. For me, that’s the perfect finish.
On my oily skin (with powder) it lasts pretty well on me. My skin depends on powder, but I will say I don’t find myself reaching for the compact to get rid of the shiny nose too often throughout the day. By probably the 4th or 5th hour I will have to powder down, but I am excessively oily so I can live with that.
I haven’t experienced it oxidise on my skin at all since wearing it personally and the Ivory shade is a good colour match for my Mac NC20 skin.
Overall, I really like the reformulated Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid. I remember using the old one years back too and liking that also.
You can pick it up in store from Boots or from their website here. It will set you back €11.99 for a 30ml bottle. Not the cheapest out there I know.
Let me know what you think. Have you tried it?
