Mac Whirl Lipstick and Lip Liner

I’ve had Mac Whirl lipstick for a while now. And I’ve had the liner forever, literally. And I never thought to do a blogpost on them. Silly me! Well I am rectifying this now for the archives and just in case any of you want to see them in action 🙂

There was a lot of hype around Mac Whirl lipstick launching after the success of the liner. I get so much use out of the lip liner. It’s great on it’s own, under similar shade lippies, not so similar shades and even gloss. It just works. It’s that typical 90’s flat brown shade.

I feel like it has a hint of blue in it because like any more blue toned red, it definitely makes your teeth look more white and bright, score!

The Mac Whirl lipstick itself is a matte formula. Mac Cosmetics do a great creamy matte formula, they apply smoothly and last well. But generally with any matte lippie, your lips need to be in tip top condition before application and it can cause dryness as you wear it throughout the day and night.

It’s weird because I don’t find the lip liner shade intimidating, but the lipstick is of course more opaque, so I do find it’s a bit of a statement to wear. Of course, this thought process is in the eye of the beholder, and the person wearing the lipstick.

Overall I am a fan of both Mac Whirl lipstick and the lip liner, but I do find myself reaching for the lip liner more day to day. Now Mac , if you’re reading this, if you could make a Soar lipstick too, that would be great. I love a brown lip but I am also partial to a mauve lip too 🙂

Revolution Conceal & Define Foundation

I’ve already reviewed the concealer, so it only made sense for me to get my makeup loving mitts on the Revolution Conceal & Define Foundation.

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. If I can’t blame blogging on my need to buy makeup, what can I blame it on? 🙂 What are my thoughts on the Revolution Conceal & Define Foundation? Actually really similar to the concealer, I like it!

It comes in 24 shades as well as different undertones which is awesome. I have the shade F4.

It looks like a giant version of the concealer, only it comes in a glass bottle, which is always nice, and unusual for ‘drugstore’ brand. Something to note, the bottle only contains 23ml of product. Foundation usually comes in a standard 30ml quantity. It’s an affordable product though, so I won’t mark it down for that. It comes with a doe foot applicator on the lid (very Clinique-like). Not something I am particularly a fan of, I prefer a pump, but that’s completely personal preference.

I think the Revolution Conceal & Define Foundation does exactly what it says on the tin. They describe it as a ‘buildable, blend-able full coverage foundation’, and I have to agree. It has a fairly thin consistency, considering it does pack a punch in the coverage department.

It means you can go in hard with it if you like a really really flawless base, or blend out a thin layer if you prefer a more medium coverage finish. For me, it blends out well with a sponge or a brush. It does dry down quickly in my opinion though so it’s best to work pretty fast with it.

Revolution Conceal & Define Foundation Review

It definitely has a more matte finish and I find the longevity really decent, especially on my oilier skin. It might also be good to note that it’s oil and paraben free.

Overall I am a fan of the Revolution Conceal & Define Foundation. I will reach for it in my usual rotation, which is always a good sign for me. When I test base products, sometimes I have to force myself to use them when I know I’ll be out and about for a long period of time. I trust this though. I can put one layer on during the day, or a couple if I’m going out in the evening. It works for both and I’m not afraid of it sliding off of my face after a couple of hours. It’s cheap too coming in at around the 11-12 euro mark here in Ireland. depending on where you buy it. I’m a fan 🙂

Black Friday Deals / Cyber Monday 2018

It’s that time of the year again. Time for black Friday deals, and Cyber Monday to boot. I’m more of a Cyber Monday gal myself. I don’t tend to bother with the crowds 🙂

As a disclaimer, I will just say. You are under no obligation to buy any black Friday deals. I am doing this just because as a blogger I get sent a lot of the codes, so it’s easy enough to put them in one place. J.Cat Xtreme Access Pocket Pocket Eyeshadow

The J.Cat Xtreme Access Pocket Pocket Eyeshadow made it into my latest monthly favourites, along with some other lovely products. I didn’t properly swatch it in that though. I’ve been getting so much use of out of this little palette and gravitating towards it a lot. So, I thought it deserved some extra swatching attention 🙂

This is a brand I knew feck all about in all honesty. I had a voucher to spend on the new Irish beauty website, Beaut Essential and they stock it. I wanted to get a couple of things from brands I had not tried before. The J.Cat Xtreme Access Pocket Pocket Eyeshadow Palettes are a mouthful and a half to say. But, they’ll only set you back €9.95, which I thought was pretty good!

There’s three colour ways to choose from on Beaut Essential. I went with the one called Walk Of Stardom.

It’s a fairly small palette, it fits in my hand, but it holds 12 fairly decent sized eyeshadows. There is 6 mattes and 6 shimmers. All more on the warm spectrum, although there is a couple of more plum/cranberry shades that in my opinion could shift things more neutral or cool.

Visually, the J.Cat Xtreme Access Pocket Pocket Eyeshadow in Walk Of Stardom is so up my alley, but in all honesty I wasn’t expecting much for a tenner. It has proved me wrong no end. The colour pay off on these shadows, both matte and shimmers is really bloody good.

They all, for the most part, apply and blend really well. Something to note, the gold shade (swatched fifth, is more of a gold shimmer topper, rather than an actual eyeshadow shade.) And the second matte plum shade isn’t great. I don’t gravitate towards it too much, so it doesn’t affect me overall.

I’ve been reaching for this palette so much on the daily and love that you can create a full eye look with just it on it’s own. There’s transition shades, lid shades and even a highlight shade.

Overall, I am a big fan of the J.Cat Xtreme Access Pocket Pocket Eyeshadow in Walk Of Stardom and now I need the other two colour ways on offer to compare 🙂

PS Liquid Glitter Eyeshadow

Hand on heart, these new PS Liquid Glitter Eyeshadow from Penneys aka Primark have been one of the most asked about beauty products by you lot on social media. I put this picture up on my Instagram.

And excuse my French, but you all lost your shit about them and wanted to know EVERYTHING. Well here I am with all the deets on these sparkly lovelies 🙂

The PS Liquid Glitter Eyeshadow from what I know is a fairly new launch from Penneys. I had seen a picture online of the packaging and then the hunt began. My mammy actually managed to pick one up before I did, so the darkest shade here is courtesy of her. (Thanks Kay 🙂 )

There are four shades in the range, at this moment in time, that could change. And yes, let’s us address the elephant in the room. They are very much like the infamous Stila Magnificent Metals! And also very much like the Pixi Liquid Fairy Lights Eyeshadows too! I can say that confidently as I am a makeup addict and own all three formulas to compare 🙂

There is a couple of differences when it comes to the PS Liquid Glitter Eyeshadow. One major one is the price. These bad boys will set you back €4 for a 4.5ml tube. Another thing to note is that the packaging is a little bit more flimsy. I would normally be here to give you pros and cons and compare the high end with the cheaper alternative. But I have to say the formula overall is super similar. In theory anyways, I cannot comment on the ingredients unfortunately.

Like the Stila eyeshadows, the formula is differs depending on the colour. The lighter two in my humble opinion are more glitter toppers. Here is the gold one in action on top of gold eyeshadow.

Whereas the two darker shades are more opaque in colour and can built up to use on their own. They do dry down pretty well. I’ve used the rose gold shade on it’s own on the lid with primer, and it lasted well.

I literally cannot say anything bad about the PS Liquid Glitter Eyeshadow. They do the job and they do it well for a ridiculously affordable price. I am super impressed. Have you tried any of the shades yet?

MAC Shiny Pretty Things Party Favours – Gold

I wasn’t going to do this just because I haven’t really played with them enough. But, a few of you asked to see swatches of my new lovely Mac Shiny Pretty Things Party Favours. I have the gold ones. There is also a pink version to choose from in Brown Thomas.

My lovely mate Cherry Sue and I were in BT perusing the Mac Christmas ranges. She decided to treat herself to the gold Mac Shiny Pretty Things Party Favours. But, she also very kindly picked me one up too. For no reason other than she’s sound. And yes, I cried, so thanks Sue 🙂

Mac know how to do Christmas. And this year is no different. Yes, I said the C word. Halloween is over, it’s officially the festive season. Get your garlands out 🙂

A full sized Mac pigment and glitter is €22 and I feel like although they’re awesome, you’ll never get through an entire pot in a lifetime. Unless you are hardcore or a makeup artist. So I love that they’re doing minis now. The minis on their own are €12. The Mac Shiny Pretty Things Party Favours in gold and pink are €30, so you make a decent saving. There are four pots per pack. Try saying that really fast.

You get two pigments and two glitters within the pack. I ripped mine open quick smart when I got it, so I just have a stock photo here for reference.

From left to right we have: English Gilt (pigment), Gold (glitter), Copper (glitter), Shiny Time (pigment).

I applied the pigments dry with a flat brush. I did used some setting spray with the glitters, just to adhere them to the skin.
